MooseBreath Posted 31 January 2015 Posted 31 January 2015 With regards to the subs looking good, let's not forget that by that stage utd had not so much taken their foot off the gas, but rather had left the car completely and were enjoying a gin and tonic in front of a roaring, erotic fire. That said I do rate Nugent and Albrighton must start ahead of Jamie 'Never been a winger never going to be a winger' Vardeh.

reynard Posted 31 January 2015 Posted 31 January 2015 Have you seen our last eight fixtures? Apart from Southampton, they are all winnable. Yes they were the first time round and how many points did we manage against the supposedly weaker teams? Not bloody enough.
SecretPro Posted 31 January 2015 Posted 31 January 2015 Yes they were the first time round and how many points did we manage against the supposedly weaker teams? Not bloody enough. Bloody hell this.

shailen Posted 1 February 2015 Posted 1 February 2015 although their goals were avoidable, united played really well first half and were professional second half. Dont think many teams would have not lost, although we did make it easy for them especially the third goal. They played that well at the KP earlier on in the season, but crumbled second half. As much as pundits try to raise us up, they threw the game away and we took advantage emphatically.
glenelgfox Posted 1 February 2015 Posted 1 February 2015 Even given the element of luck as discussed re their 3 goals - they always looked dangerous and would have on quality and weight of possession scored at least 3 all game. We were like a non-league outfit (rabbits in the headlights) overawed by the occassion and except for when they parked the bus for the last 25 minutes or so we couldn't get any decent possession (27% overall is shite at PL level) and our embarrassing failure most of the game to string more than 2 passes together makes you wonder what the hell they do on the training pitch. I am a big Nigel Pearson supporter but not for the first time this season I have been left bewildered by his starting 11 and subsequent substitutions! The debate about the midfield has the jury out from my point of view given that we have had a run of injuries to those players and stupid suspensions (cue James). We haven't been able to settle a decent CM pairing all season! Left back has been a problem in the main and do we put up with slow horrible decision making from Konch or persist with RDL? Da Laet is ok except he has no left side ability which was exposed today. Personally I think Schlupp should drop back to LB and play Mahrez when he returns out on the left but he will need to improve his defensive coverage. Knocky could also play there and has shown intent and good defensive coverage in the few chances he has had so that is another option. Albrighton has to start on the right but trying to find the right upfront strike combination is also proving problematic BUT unless we get some decent possession and give decent supply it won't much matter who starts upfront.
Dickov22 Posted 1 February 2015 Posted 1 February 2015 1st goal huge mistake by Kramaric 2nd goal mistake by Wasilewski diving in 3rd goal ridiculous by Wes
Dan Posted 1 February 2015 Posted 1 February 2015 Getting more and more pissed off with his selections. That midfield four is a total embarrassment. When our fans were singing "oh Leicester we want five" I assume they meant touches of the ball. Man Utd were good but not amazing. We made it painfully easy for them. Pearson has assembled a pretty good group of players, and for me, he's mis-using them. No-one is telling me Vardy out wide over Albrighton gives us any benefit what so ever. The second half we showed some fight, but it's not enough, if you're going to give the game up in the first half then you needn't bother. The one saving grace is that funnily enough results wise it's actually been a pretty good day for us, we lost a game we were expected to whilst everyone else bar Sunderland (who were playing Burnley) lost games you would probably not bet against them maybe taking a point. Imagine losing 0-3 to this dreadful Newcastle side.
Guest MarshallForEngland Posted 1 February 2015 Posted 1 February 2015 I spent most of the game watching Wayne Rooney's movement off the ball. In the first half especially it was a masterclass. We made it quite easy for them but he still gave a lesson on how to constantly make yourself available and dictate a game. I would have liked to have seen Cambiasso start the match to try and reduce Rooney's affect on the game as I don't think any of our other midfielders have the nous and experience to deal with a player like that.
Albert Posted 1 February 2015 Posted 1 February 2015 No need to talk about team selection, formation or tactics as every man and his dog knows they were all just wrong. The most worrying thing for me was the lack of spirit we showed. The players never looked as though they had any belief we could get anything from the game. First half we looked scared, had no leadership & showed no confidence or composure. Our ball management was awful! Don't know whether the 5-3 win had an effect on the mentality of the players but it looked as though we were just worried of a revenge attack from Utd & didn't want to take a pasting. There needs to be some big changes made for next week
The Year Of The Fox Posted 1 February 2015 Posted 1 February 2015 Appalling vocal effort from the away fans yesterday.

On this alone I was very surprise we didn't start Estaban after his excellent job frustrating Rooney in September. Just to add we made Daley Blind ineffective too in that game and yesterday we allowed him to control the pace of the game.

Imagine losing 0-3 to this dreadful Newcastle side. I agree with this, Dan. Big Pearson fan as you know but it's absolutely ridiculous to think you could go to Old Trafford with King and Drinkwater in the midfield without Cambiasso or Hammond to give them some support. Vardy out wide is embarrassing. Looked like a case of favourites from Pearson yesterday. He's been accused of this before but I've never really agreed. I do with yesterday's team though. I actually think he's got too many forwards all of a similar level too, and doesn't know what to do with them. For example, he can't leave Ulloa out because he's top scorer, he can't leave Kramaric out because he's the big signing, he won't leave Vardy out because he's one of his favourites, and we almost always look better balanced when Nugent plays but he just doesn't score enough goals. He doesn't know how to fit them all in. Only one positive for me is he's finally dropped Konchesky.
Phube Posted 1 February 2015 Posted 1 February 2015 After watching on MOTD I don't believe it's all Kramarich's fault. Look at Drink water, he quite clearly moves towards Kram to collect the ball, which Kram leaves for him. Only for Drink water to then backside leaving Kram stranded and red faced... Harsh!
Leicester Lass Posted 1 February 2015 Posted 1 February 2015 1st goal huge mistake by Kramaric 2nd goal mistake by Wasilewski diving in 3rd goal ridiculous by Wes Interesting to see you pick out Wasilewski for the second. Agreed he dived in a bit too easily, but Schwarzer should have held the initial shot which would have prevented the goal. Wasyl our stand out defender yet again.

He does that too often though, comes charging out of defence leaving us exposed. I think he's just too keen sometimes. Agree Schwarzer should be doing better also. I think it's pretty irrelevant who was at fault for the goals anyway. The whole game was like a training match for Man Utd. Pathetic effort
st albans fox Posted 1 February 2015 Posted 1 February 2015 Held the initial shot? Really? jeez, you're a tough crowd. Maybe he would have hoped to push it a little further away from the goal but the ball was travelling and probably only a fist contact would have done that and that would have been a very unusual thing to do in the circumstances. the goal was a calamity further up the pitch due to no one infront of the back four and Simpson's positioning. Wait to see how our management team address this next week when we are at home with a crucial winnable game and will have a fully fit midfield to pick from (and potentially Riyadh back if they lose tonight). if they get it wrong then we are down. Not mathematically but with 13 games left, we must have a coherent plan to get results. That means we don't have to win but we do have to show that we have the confidence to play at this level and create chances. the last two league matches have shown a distinct lack of ambition, confidence and nouse.
Southern Fox Posted 1 February 2015 Posted 1 February 2015 My main disappointment yesterday was the inclusion of Schwarzer over Hamer. Bar Eriksen free kick Hamer has hardly put a foot wrong Picking Schwarzer is an insult to Hamer regardless of his Prem experience I can't say any of the goals Hamer would have done better with either but for me I didn't agree with choice The line up didn't suit our strengths yesterday or Man Utd's weaknesses It's been clear this season that the best way to approach Man U is a high tempo, closing down and getting their defence facing their own goal with balls over top (which was witnessed when Nugent came on) Just my thoughts Thought following and support was decent considering 3-0 HT and team giving us little to get us going Wasilewski song was best IMO
blueoveru Posted 1 February 2015 Posted 1 February 2015 MY WORD YOU LOT ARE EASILY SATISFIED "didn't expect a lot" "didn't expect much" we are in a dire position in case you hadn't noticed and every game counts We were poor ....didn't compete until it was too damn late, midfield dire this is the engineroom of a team supposedly supplying the strikers, they'ed have got more supply out of my grandson who throws his toys out of the pram better. Ten long years of hard slog to be ruined in less than half a Season by ineptitude from management, and don't think its going to be easy to get back up, just look at how the relegated teams are faring

I guess they've had to shave off their wage bills. Regarding the thing about 'didn't expect a lot'..it's an FT thing. Before the game, there was real excitement at being able to turn Man U over. So much so, some even betted on it. Of course, when we lose, all the usual suspects come out with the fact that we didn't have a chance anyway.
marbelladave Posted 1 February 2015 Posted 1 February 2015 First half yesterday was as bad as I have seen in a while. Whatever the plan was, the players appeared to have no confidence in it whatsoever. To set up with two men up and two men wide, away, against top six premier league opposition is just plain daft. We made no plan to counter Blind or Rooney, so had no possible chance to be competitive, stringing two banks of four just outside your own area with a gap of 40 yards to the front two is just not going to get it done. It was embarrassing really, we played like we thought we hadn't a chance and soon didn't, no composure, no fight, no hope. It is demoralising after a few decent performances to see us play like that, I really can not see how we can generate the energy, the determination or whatever is necessary to beat Palace next week, starting from that low a level, I just cant see it.
Fox92 Posted 1 February 2015 Posted 1 February 2015 We set up to contain, and for 30 minutes it went well. They had the odd chance but nothing of real threat. But we make our own downfall, kicking the ball long. What's the point? We're never going to win it when we're playing against defenders the size of Phil Jones. It's so frustrating. We kick it long, we don't win it and the ball just comes back at us. Ulloa did his best yet again but playing alone there's not much else he can do. When we attacked them we looked quite decent, Morgan put a good ball in and Albrighton put a few good balls in. Nugent did well again too, where his constant criticism comes from I don't know. Albrighton should start against Palace. I'd put Upson in too if he's match fit.
justfoxes Posted 1 February 2015 Posted 1 February 2015 A STINKER! In The First Half / Better In The Second We allowed their wide players too much time and space, causing us to panic and lose our shape. Better to play 5-4-1 and go for man to man marking, this way we could of at least secured a point. Good to see the Manager spotting this and bollocking those who were slacking, ball watching, and hoping someone else would do the job. Second half put right we looked more like getting something out of the game. GAME CHANGING: OFFSIDE FOR THE FIRST GOAL CAMBIASSO a calming effect and good distribution ALBRIGHTON positive runs and crosses NUGENT solid runs and inventive DRINKWATER did well and needs encouraging MAN OF THE MATCH(for us) MARCIN WASILEWSKI made up when he nutted the ball in the back of the net POSITIVES We are still in the Survival Pack - but we need to tighten up if we are going to progress. KEEP THE FAITH Totally agree NIGEL played the wrong starting 11 but when things were changed in the second half we looked much better it's so frustrating we seem to take one step forward and two back in our performances of late, and the one thing that is going our way at the moment is the results and points of the teams around us it's really tight a win could take us up to 18th especially if the results go our way as they did yesterday ! But why is NIGEL keeping faith with obvious players that are just not up to the premier league when on the bench we have game changers such as Allbrighton and Cambiasso why is he picking Vardy on the wing ?? He could be an impact player in late second half with his pace and ALBRIGHTON could send in the crosses both Kramaric and Ulloa thrive on and give more of a chance for goals! Cambiasso seems to bring a calming effect on the squad and he marshals the midfield if it was up to me he'd be club captain as has an air of confidence and experience, but if we can see the flaws in the side why can't Nige ?? I'm not an anti PEARSON or a PEARSON out fan but the one thing is he needs to stop with the awful team selections as I feel he could be on his way out but there is a thought then who would replace him have we time to get in a new manager to stop us returning to the championship ?? So I think lets just stick with him a bit longer and FFS NIGEL PICK A SQUAD THATS BALANCED AND PLAY OUR QUALITY PLAYERS FEED THE FORWARDS WITH ALBRIGJTONS CROSSES LET CAMBIASSO BRING HIS CALMNESS TO THE TEAM AND FFS PLEASE SORT MORGAN OUT !!
MC Prussian Posted 1 February 2015 Posted 1 February 2015 I wonder if Pearson has learned anything, cus he is the one controlling the sinking ship!!! I don't see us as sinking, more like still staying afloat in a pile of rubbish - with the chance of taking off to better heights any time soon.
