Stevosevic Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 Could definitely use his aerial presence This
Guest seanfox778 Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 As others have said, good at set pieces but I don't think he could offer us much else. Is he still our player?
filbertway Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 That might be a typo, but thats half the problem with him. I didn't mean that, but it definitely applies. He does give the impression he'd shatter if touched by someone travelling over a mile an hour.
filbertway Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 In all sincerity, it's quality delivery that the team has sorely missed. We haven't sorely missed Gallagher though. His all round game is too weak. HOWEVER, I could see some mileage in bringing him on after 70 min, when we are chasing a game and needing a good set piece for big Huth to get his noggin on. I could see some mileage in that actually. Aren't his set piece usually that clipped ball that float in to the box? Not sure how effective they'd be against decent keepers and defences. He doesn't exactly whip them in.
Unabomber Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 Still have Gallagher over Knockaert any day But Gally can barely cut it in the championship daz?
Silverdaz Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 But Gally can barely cut it in the championship daz? I just think he would offer a bigger threat than Knockaert, they both have sublime skill at times but I think Gallaghers final ball is better
Fox92 Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 No. His all round game is far too weak. No doubting his technical ability though.
teblin Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 Wish we had someone with his dead ball ability. But we carried him in general play
Guest MattP Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 From memory weren't Gallys crosses actually quite shit? Just dinks into the area half the time? His free kicks shooting were good but let's not forget it's probably twice as hard to beat a keeper in this division.
Will1981 Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 would probably do a better job on the wing than Vardy
Kierzz Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 His physicality in the middle of the pitch is what we've been missing
Fox92 Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 would probably do a better job on the wing than Vardy Vardy won't stay there. I don't expect him to be out wide on Saturday, and I hope not. He's played out wide the last two games, both of which have been away games - Manchester United and Tottenham - and I think he's only there because of his pace for if we counter attack. Lets not forget Schlupp and Knockaert played wide previous to these games, and Mahrez when he was here.
MrSpaM Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 The ammount of times he ducked out of challenges was criminal Good set pieces though
Richard Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 Imagine Knockaert in League One though, would absolutely tear that division apart.
DB11 Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 I used to look forward to set pieces when we had him, but that's about it. And that was in a different league a few years ago.
LCCFox96 Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 Wow, I opened the thread hoping he'd penned a pre-contract agreement at Preston and pissed off our wage bill. Gallagher in the premiership? Nah. From memory weren't Gallys crosses actually quite shit? Just dinks into the area half the time? Everyone of his corners buried straight into the first man - a trend we've not necessarily lost but nothing Gallagher would improve. The thing that annoyed me most was his lack of ability to beat a man with pace (like Dyer/Schlupp) or skill (like Knockaert/Mahrez). Thinking back he scored a few for us but he was largely ineffective for the majority of games. Take the 3-0 over Palace at home. He did nothing until he hit two worldy strikes and got MOTM.
Bettsj2 Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 Has more quality than most give him credit for but not enough for the Prem. At the height of his abilities he's top 10 championship squad level.

I would agree he has the ability to turn games with a bit magic but he didn't do it often enough and drifted in and out the games he did do it in. Very reliable from the spot and a good free kick were his main assets.
Dan Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 I don't even know what to say. I think the OP is actually serious
MC Prussian Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 Two tabloids today describe gallaghers free kick as stunning ,quality and class Can't believe I'm asking this but could he cut it In the premiership He's almost made of glass and isn't physical enough. Gallagher has a neat right peg on him, but that's about it. His one-on-one commitment in terms of tackling is lacklustre and he's not getting any faster.

He wasn't even a great passer of the ball, and far too lightweight, so we couldn't play him at CM
Jobyfox Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 Could he cut it in the Premier League? Yes, he probably could for about 1 game in every 10. He used to have the odd game where he was absolute quality. Scoring from 30 yards out, bending in a free kick etc. The problem was that the rest of the time he may as well have not been on the pitch.
WhenYourSmilingLCFC Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 if he had a better work rate maybe, hew not the quickest of players either. cant think of many others in our current squad who can hit a ball from the distance he can with accuracy though
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 Could definitely use his aerial presenceAnd his tackling . . .
