johnny the fox Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 Just because we have pictures of Nigel in his sparkly white Reebok Classics on our walls that we bow to 3x a day and thank him for the life we live doesn't mean we are obsessed with Sir Nigel savour of man Pearson. your only saying that cos you have had the electrodes treatment..
EnglishOxide Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 Nigel Pearson tightened his hand round James McArthur’s neck but Leicester City’s grip on Premier League status loosened further after this chastening 1-0 defeat at home to Crystal Palace. The City manager became involved in an extraordinary touchline altercation with Palace’s McArthur late on in the game, with the Foxes desperately trying to salvage a point. Although it appeared playful at first, Pearson put his hand on McArthur’s throat before he pointedly kept hold of the midfielder, prompting an angry exchange of words before referee Lee Mason diffused the situation. It was given extra spice by Pearson’s attempt before the season began to sign McArthur from Wigan, only for the public breakdown of the deal to irk the Foxes’ manager. “He collided with me,” Pearson said afterwards. ADVERTISEMENT Why did he not release the 27-year-old? “Because he said something to me. I don’t have to reveal anything do I? I think I’m more than capable of looking after myself. “Listen, I’ve got a lot of respect for lad, I think he’s a good player. Clearly you know what happened in the summer with the possibility of him coming here. I’m as disappointed as how he was with how things possibly panned out. “But that’s nothing to do with me or the player – it’s the other football club which was involved in it who take absolute responsibility for anything that wasn’t quite right. And a certain manager [uwe Rosler] who opened his trap when he should have kept his mouth shut. I have absolutely no problem today at all with the lad.” I love the man. Quite obviously McArthur called him a **** or something so Nige reacted to that.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 Pearson will get to the end of this season, do whatever he does when he's not at the club (walking in Romania or biking in The Peaks) and look back at what has happened this season. And he will learn. Sometimes he takes time to do it but he does it. Be it learning that we just needed a couple of experienced players adding before the promotion season or recognising that players who had previously been good for him (Gallagher and Wellens spring to mind) needed phasing out. If we sack Pearson the next club that employs him will get a very good manager who has learned from the mistakes he made this season (and there's no doubt that there have been a few - some already learnt from I might add). I hope that it's us that get the benefit of that.
inckley fox Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 If we do get relegated, what is it that makes Pearson a better manager than the likes of Holloway, Warnock, Davies, Brown or McCarthy? What is our ambition - to be a good Championship side or an established Premier League side? What do you see which leads you to believe Pearson can achieve the latter? Good second tier managers and third tier managers are all very well and good. But if we want to be a top flight side we will, either this year or some time in the future, need a good Premier League manager. Is there any sign that Pearson is, or is getting any closer to that? I'm sorry to see such a lack of ambition, such acceptance of mediocrity, for a club which has known so much better. There are people who are more passionate about Pearson than their club, than their fans, than all of their players combined; people for whom the man himself means more than the badge. It's gone beyond being confrontational, it's become an aggressive viewpoint which, in many cases, is staggeringly unwilling to listen to any sort of reason. It's never a good thing when your judgement is based on emotion rather than reason.
SecretPro Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 People want Pearson to stay for the rest of their lives. People don't give a **** if we get relegated. Nice ambition people. 10 years this took us and lot's of people seem remarkably 'glad' to wave goodbye to it and declare they don't give a **** because in Nige we trust. Sad, sad, sad. Very sad. This Pearson obsession is creepy. I don't give a **** whether Pearson stays or goes, I actually give a **** about WiNNING football matches and playing TOP FLIGHT football. Some people have got really weird with this Pearson business. Literally ANY OTHER PERSON with Leicester in this position would have been slated. I reakon ISIS should sign Pearson up.
Donut Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 No not Andy King. To the DT's, seen it alls etc who last week said the 'pro Pearson' lot had vanished. Well we're still here. I'd be delighted if Pearson was here for the rest of my life, he runs a football club in every way I love, from the morals of the players, the attitude of those wear the badge to the fiscal stability to the football club. Has he made mistakes? Yes. That's what people do. Give me someone you think better? No thanks. To be honest with you, I think youre self righteous, and mental.

Why is top flight football the be all and end all? And why do people not get that no one else is keeping us up now, and I can't see anyone in a better position to take our now very well run club back up next year and try and learn from our mistakes if we do make the 2016/17 Premier League?
seenitall Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 Brilliant - I wonder if (hope) you clowns will still be supporting Nige when he's at Darlington - I'm Leicester me, he aint good enough, bring on someone who is NOW
lgfualol Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 I find Pearson frustrating and questionable. But he is our Pearson. He will keep the club stable. I'd be pretty ****ing sad if he was to leave.
hackneyfox Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 'I'd be delighted if Pearson was here for the rest of my life' The cult of Nigel Pearson I wouldn't have said such a thing about MON.
hackneyfox Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 Why is top flight football the be all and end all? And that's why people are happy to see NFP relegate us.

Nice ambition people. 10 years this took us and lot's of people seem remarkably 'glad' to wave goodbye to it and declare they don't give a **** because in Nige we trust. Ten years this took 'us'? You realise we did basically nothing to make this happen. Nigel Pearson did. We watched.
johnny the fox Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 The idea we would automatically be in the shake up for promotion again next season is blind faith.. nearly all clubs fans have thought this..sadly the division is littered with them. in life and in jobs people just have a sell by date. its just the way it is..
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 What it all comes down to is the trap all fans fall in to when getting promoted to the Premier League. One I hoped our lot wouldn't, but clearly have. They think we have a right to be here, and going down is not an option. We have no divine right to be in the Premier League. We are doing our best, we played really well today, we've played well a lot this season, it'll either be enough or it won't. As long as the lads keep giving their all (anyone who says otherwise about today or 90%+ of the games this season is just looking for something that isn't there) I'll keep supporting them full voiced. This section of the forum really is vicious after a defeat, everyone with their 'told ya this, told ya that'. Grow up imo.

separator Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 Brilliant - I wonder if (hope) you clowns will still be supporting Nige when he's at Darlington - I'm Leicester me, he aint good enough, bring on someone who is NOW So who do you suggest? What managers are available with Premier league experience used to a relegation battle? There's no point sacking someone without a decent replacement.
chapero82 Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 How many managers stabalise the club from the ground up? The problem with pearson this season was he was naive to give the players a chance as they got us here, that is what backfired, as some have proved they are just not good enough and by Jan it was too late as nobody wanted to come. Maybe if we go down and he brings us back up he will not do the same again
Donut Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 There is no point replacing him now, thats true. But if we ever did get back to the Premiership, then sack him after the promotion party, because we shouldnt be tolerating this. And if we do go down, brace yourself for a bloody hard season in the championship.
Silverdaz Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 here here to the OP, Pearson is trying to build something here (hence all the good young players for the u21s) so he is also thinking of the future

And the idea that someone would come in now and keep us up is equally blind, and if they didn't keep us up would they do any better at getting us back up. So I would rather stick with a manager who has proven to improve us year on year, tactically improved year on year and generally runs the football club in the right way.

Matt's post has 29 rep points at the time of typing, the polls are regularly 70-95% pro Pearson. It's a minority of idiots who think we have a God given right to be in the Premier League. And an even smaller number who think he should be sacked as a punishment for his supposed crimes, which is real cut your nose off to spite your face stuff because he's clearly the best chance we've got of getting back up.
Benguin Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 We are not down yet! It looks bad, it'll be hard and we're probably more likely to go down then stay up now. But getting rid of Pearson would be an awful mistake even if we get relegated.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 7 February 2015 Posted 7 February 2015 you lost me at "we played really well today"... We did. First half especially. We didn't make our superiority count, obviously, which is gutting, but we did play well.
