VILLA, FA CUP, 6500 of us

Sorry mate this is total s**t. The Premiership is the be all and end all these days. Ask Wigan fans what they would have preferred!

We go up & down all the time, always have, always will. We haven't had a sniff of an FA cup run since the mid 90s and no final in around half a century. A couple of old boys I chat to in the pub say they couldn't give a crap about the league position as they've waited 70 years to see us lift something major.

League Cups are okay but to get your name on that Trophy is special.

You say ask Wigan fans but ask Arsenal fans what's better - 4th place or a cup. It's always the silverware.

People STILL think certain clubs' demise is due to a cup win. Absolutely brainwashed.

I know!

Portsmouth and Wigan's demise is down to piss poor management from board level. Its not because they won a cup and their players stopped trying.

I don't understand any team that doesn't take the cups seriously, especially if you aren't in with a chance of winning the league you are in.

A handful of extra games over the season will make little to no difference to your league position.

Guess we will have to agree to disagree then. Rotherham year on year or Arsenal year on year is a no brainier for me despite how competitive we are. FA cup win would be glorious and history making but the Premership is the bread and butter that will ultimately shape our future. Ask Portsmouth fans

My family are Pompey fans, they wouldn't change a thing!

Baffles me how anyone can say they would rather stay up over winning the FA cup. Ask yourself this question. What have been your favourite moments as a Leicester fan. Mine have been winning two cups, winning the championship and also winning playing off finals. Common denominator is winning something there not finishing 10th in the premier league. Yes it's great to be in the premier league and we would all of course love to see us competing week in week out against the top clubs but winning trophies is what it's all about. Those moments of sheer unbridled joy are why I go every week, what I dream of as a fan!

Totally agree.

It was interesting when Stringer did a bit of a poll on Twitter, most of our fans seemed to be saying they'd rather see us stay up and go out of the FA cup. Yet on here the majority seem to say opposite.

For the life of me I cannot understand fans that would prefer premier league mediorocrecy over winning the FA cup.

Most of their arguments seemed to be 'establish yourself first and then win the FA Cup'. Sadly, beggars can't be choosers. You have a chance to win the FA Cup once in a blue moon. You take it. (Or at least give everything in trying to.)

The sad thing is though you know full-well even if we become 'established' (and that's a very big if) you'll still get some saying that we should focus on a better league position. I can see why it's important to stay in this league given the money you get but as a match going fan I'll always prioritise actually winning something over a better position. Beggars can't be choosers is spot on. We're in the last 16, have a very winnable game in this round and potentially have a Derby, Reading or Blackburn awaiting us in the quarters should we get there, we will rarely get a chance this good.

Winning at Orient and Claridges goal at wembley are the best feelings ive had.Honurable mention to Knocky at Forest. All league related.

The FA cup 30 years ago but its not the same now unfortunately, loved Spurs and looking forward to Villa and would go crazy if we won,but only because im old enough to remember when I would rather Leicester have won the FA cup than the league and European cup double.

So cup or league?

At my age I would take the cup win so that leads me to the question.

If we went down and won the cup would you still want nige as manager?

To me it's a yes as I think he is the best man to get us back up and the cup is the bonus/cherry on the cake.

FA Cup. The greatest domestic cup competition in the World.

I think it'd be harsh to sack the first manager to give the club the FA Cup!

Does this need a poll?

I had this debate last week in the cricket club before the game, and think I managed to get a couple of " stay in the prem" fans to realise that no single city fan ever has seen us lift the fa cup, plenty of relegation/ promotion seasons.

FA Cup for me!!

I'm old enough to tell you about my dad, and my granddad, singing "Poor old Pompey" at the 1949 semi-final. We've got to win it eventually, haven't we? FA Cup every time.
