daventry_fox Posted 20 March 2015 Posted 20 March 2015 My girlfriends son is going away for a week with his school in February ( ages yet) so I thought I would take the girlfriend away for the week whilst he's gone preferably abroad. I was thinking Prague or Barcelona. Anybody have any suggestions
Webbo Posted 20 March 2015 Posted 20 March 2015 Rome is a great place to go, so much to see all within walking distance.
daventry_fox Posted 20 March 2015 Author Posted 20 March 2015 I've always wanted to go Rome I might get lucky and Roma and Lazio might fall on the same week. Obviously I won't tell her that
ScouseFox Posted 20 March 2015 Posted 20 March 2015 not a bad shout i enjoyed it more than prague, that was in summer though, although quite a few trip advisor type places say it's great around valentines which is february so could check it out. it's a great place.
daventry_fox Posted 20 March 2015 Author Posted 20 March 2015 Her grandfather was Hungarian so I think she will enjoy Budapest. Funnily enough I never thought of it till you mentioned it
Richmondfox Posted 21 March 2015 Posted 21 March 2015 Budapest is ok, really cheap, the spas are great but I don't see the point in going to a third world country. Copenhagen is a great place to visit. Stockholm is next on my Nordic trips.
Nalis Posted 21 March 2015 Posted 21 March 2015 Speaking as someone who has visited both, Prague and Budapest are great long weekend spots but any more than 4 nights in either could be stretching it. Maybe if you were to go to either you could plan to visit another city within the week also? Factor in whether or not the weather is a factor as the above might be a bit cold around Feb time! Richmondfox, each to their own but I think thats a pretty narrow minded view. Some 'third world countries' ( I take it you mean Eastern European) have some beautiful architecture, people are friendly in general and you get more for your money than in other parts of Europe.
SystonFox Posted 21 March 2015 Posted 21 March 2015 Barca is wicked loads to see and do. I did four days there last time and didn't see all I wanted to. Did do a game at camp nou though. Barca 5 Mallorca (and Alan Hutton haha) 0 Fabregas x 3 Alexis Sanchez x 2
bovril Posted 21 March 2015 Posted 21 March 2015 Syria looks quite nice. It was once upon a time. I always wanted to go to Damascus.
Fox92 Posted 21 March 2015 Posted 21 March 2015 The Algarve. Beautiful and plenty to do. Some great golf courses if you're into that.

Like someone said though, any more than 4ish days is beginning to push it. It's definitely worth visiting - the architecture is stunning and it's cheap.
VLC86 Posted 21 March 2015 Posted 21 March 2015 It was once upon a time. I always wanted to go to Damascus. I know mate I'm being serious, all the cool kids go there.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 21 March 2015 Posted 21 March 2015 Tunisia I hear Ukraine is nice this time of year, though maybe Syria.
