It'll be a joke if we can't win this. We've just qualified for the Europa League and now people are saying we're incapable of beating a Championship level team? Give me strength. I don't think that Leicester will go down but [...]

How are we a championship level team if we've just walked that level and you don't think we'll get relegated?

Lukaku won't be fully fit but so what? Are people that deluded that they think we are now a one man team?

B-but you have him to score despite him being unlikely to play

Total idiot. Think we'll come across a lot of opposition fans with this attitude this season unfortunately. Hope we can change their opinions

Hello lads. Evertonian here who's genuinely made up that I got the security question of Jeffrey Schlupp's nationality right without googling it, feel a bit sad now like but there we go. Anyway I always tend to find it interesting to engage in a bit of conversation with the opposition before the game so here I am.

I'm a bit worried if I'm honest. Our pre season hasn't been great, having yet to win a game, but hopefully the story changes a bit at your place next week. Unlike that nobend that someone posted a link to earlier in the thread I see your lot as a threat, after I stop laughing at you for having Gary Taylor-Fletcher in your team, then laughing at us and ultimately Joel Robles for allowing him to score against us. Anyway, the conversation I had with a Leicester fan the other week didn't lead me to have much faith in your knowledge of football after being told that Jamie Vardy would give our defence nightmares, not that I don't think Vardy's a good player, I think he's really good, but shouldn't Lukaku, Mirallas and Barkley up against your defence then cause an absolute tonking? Only if we're going by that lads rules. Anyway what are your thoughts on Everton and this game? I think it'll be a tough one for us. I have to expect a win here tbh, due to the quality of our side but I weary the likes of Knockaert, Mahrez, Albrighton and Nugent, and I feel you have a good team. With your positive momentum going into this game after I'm pretty sure you have had a decent pre season? And Nugents looked pretty decent, as well as being a cert to score against his boyhood team. To be honest I'm just in hope that we okay to our potential and win the game comfortably. But I'm here to hear your views anyway so hoping for some interesting debate.

Everton expected team:

Howard

Coleman Jagielka Stones Baines

McCarthy Barry Besic

Barkley

Lukaku Mirallas

Prediction: Leicester 1-2 Everton (Nugent, Lukaku, Barkley)

Interested to hear your thoughts.

If Albrighton has no problem

Kasper

RDL Moore Morgan Schlupp

Drinky James

Albrighton Vardy Mahrez

Ulloa

I am not sure whether I can watch the match on TV... the live stream on the Internet is something like a PPT...I've had enough of it...

I try not to read too much into pre-season, but Everton have had a truly shocking one. Literally awful. Not a single win and apparently struggling to impress in terms of performance too. I think we're more prepared for this than they are and I've got a feeling we're going to sneak it.

Vardy genuinely has it in him to hurt anyone with his energy. Luckily for you, it looks like he won't be playing through injury. Albrighton's now a doubt and Knockaert's probably going to miss out too, so we'll be slightly weakened.

You're undoubtedly the favourites but it just seems like one of those games where the underdog will scrape it. Time will tell.

As I say I think Vardy's a good player, but I think Everton often get underrated in these circumstances where the likes of Tottenham, Arsenal etc. get feared by teams new to the Premier League or lower down the league. Problem is our pre-season's been diabolical and I'm starting to wonder whether taking our time to finalise the squad may be an issue.

Without any new signings, 3-1 everton.

(Based on our squad right now)

Kasperino

DeLaet Morgan Moore Konch(feelssowrong)

James Drink

Albrighton. Mahrez

Nugent

Ulloa

Subs: Vardy (if fit), Knocky (if fit), Hamer, Hammond, King, Schlupp, Wasyl

To be honest, with Vardy I think it's more a case of us thinking that he could cause any defence at any level nightmares due to his pace, energy, and pressing, rather than underrating Everton.

Have no idea on the personnel or the system that will be used, but I can't see us getting much from Everton unfortunately. They will dominate possession and their attacking options are too good.

0-2 Everton.

Lots of concern because Everton have some class players.  However from their pre-season they can't be full of confidence.  We may not be the better team on paper but we have a decent squad, a good manager and a lot of confidence.  We can win  this.

Posted

Vardy would terrorise your defence not so much because of his technical ability but because of his pace, energy and his constant chasing and pressing.

Posted

I like Everton and their fans- though that opinion may change after posting this when I'll be reading the links to their forum on the previous page. I think Everton will win but we will be vastly underestimated by most sides this season which will suit us.

Barkley is absolute quality and will be the next Gerrard for England I reckon.

What I don't want to see from us this season is too much chopping and changing formation and tactics, particularly at home. If fit I'd start the 11 who featured so predominantly last season and as a 442 based on last season too. We just need to play at our game and not do what we did v Man City last season, changed the line up and tactics and we then rolled over without a fight.

Posted

Vardy will scare alot of defences with is pace and his urge to slide tackle defenders. Certainly got a bright future ahead of him i think. I somehow don't think scoring goals will be a problem for us this season, maybe the back four is a little concern.

Posted

Not sure how I feel about this game.

Everton will be looking to win, and fair enough - I mean, wouldn't you if we were in their position? They have some very good players who could really hurt us if we don't keep our wits about us.

Having said that, I think we've got a decent opportunity to sneak a win. It's our first game back in the top flight for a decade, I'm sure the crowd will be up for it. My only concern is the reported injuries to Vardy and Albrighton - personally, I think Knockhaert won't feature as much this season as some are expecting, but there we go...

Might be a chance for Nugent though. He wouldn't be in my starting XI generally, but he'll be keen to put in a good performance and has had a good pre-season.

Always have to laugh when people talk about Jagielka being a weak point in our defence. I rate Vardy but he's not someone I'm scared of, purely because I'd be more certain of the likes of Barkley, Lukaku, Mirallas, Coleman, Baines having some joy against your defence.
