The relegation run-in thread

I'm sorry to burst anybody's bubble but we are going to need more than 34 points, last season you needed 36 points to stay and at this stage last season teams had less ponts in the relegation spots than this this years

33 points and a -33 goal difference would have kept you up last year.

Well I do not trust any journalist who is so lazy that he does not even know which team is playing where on the final day of the season:

'Aston Villa play Burnley on the last day as QPR host Leicester'

Muppet.

I hate to say it mate but you are wrong. Have another look at the table. You only have to better the team in 18th.

No need to be rude mate. Chill out. People make mistakes.

Great Escape Theme Tune

It's on! Nige should be playing this on repeat in training this week. He should also create a compilation of Leicester's best ever goals, with it as a soundtrack. BELIEVE!

Got a good feeling about tomorrow. West Ham are a good side, much better than Brom. Play with attacking intent like we did last week and I think we will have em. We need Vardy at his best, he is a game changer on his day.

I do hope pearson sticks with the more attacking approach, and doesn't revert back to his cautious systems.

It's clearly shit or bust time, let's go for it.

Don't pretend like you know what the required points total will be. It's perfectly possible for it to be 34 when you look at the games other teams have left.

Those predictor things are a complete waste of time. It's amost impossible to predict this weekend's results, let alone matches that are 6-7 weeks away.

No, to stay up you need to beat 18th places points, not 17th. So you need just 1 point more than Norwich, not more points than west brom. You've had a mare

Actually, you only need better goal difference  :)

We've had this discussion before...

It depends on perspective. If we were in the league last season as one of the relegated trio, we would have needed to beat West broms 36 point total to overtake them and stay up.

If we were put into the league as a 21st team so to speak, beating the 33 points of Norwich would have been enough.

You're all right...

That is a very good point and interesting to see how different people view the same set of numbers. Cheers.

Anybody got Pearson's last 8 games of the season record over the years he's been with us? Must make for pretty decent viewing.

It varies.

The League one season wasn't the best run in from memory but the first play off season we finished with 5 straight wins.

Then since his return, we had the awful end of season form finishing with the Watford game but also last season

08/09 - W4D3L1

09/10 - W5L3

11/12 - W3D2L3

12/13 - W2D3L3

13/14 - W5D2L1

So on average, 13.4 points - take it down to 7 games (as we've got left) and it becomes

08/09 - W4D2L1

09/10 - W5L2

11/12 - W3D1L3

12/13 - W2D3L2

13/14 - W5D1L1

Average of 12.8 points. So, average run in with pearson from here will put us on 34-35 points (or, if you include the West Ham game, 32-33 points)

The last six games of the season were actually quite good IMO. We picked up nine points (play off form that season) from teams who all finished in the top half, four of which were on decent form themselves at the time. It's a myth that we poor up until the Forest game, we'd started playing again a while before that.

No you guys must be, 3 teams get relegated you need to be 17th to stay up!!! Not 18th all you are doing is beating norwich's points so if you beat there's but don't beat west broms you still go down

No no no, you need to beat the team in 18ths return to stay up. Imagine one of the midtable sides weren't in it and we were. To stay up we needed to finish in front of Cardiff, Fulham and Norwich. So we needed to better their return, west brom don't come into it

I think what people are saying is you need to finish above three teams.

Therefore if Leicester were WBA last season they would have still stayed up on 33 points.

Look at this years league table for example, to stay up what position number do we need to be in to stay up?

Oh that's right 17th.... What position is west brom in last season? Oh that's right 17th!!!! Just look at the table this year, at the moment we need to beat hulls points as they are in 17th position
