The relegation run-in thread

Latest predictor I've done (assuming a Sunderland win) is us on 33pts in 17th ahead of Hull (32pts) , Burnley (32pts) and QPR (30pts). Sunderland on 36pts.

If city can end with any decent run, achieving 35-37 pts, then, only then can we hope that if our survival competitors,

run-ins stay as difficult as they are looking at present.

Then it could look like this:-

Palace, Villa, even Newcastle will ride it out,

15-17...WBA,LCFC,Burnley doggingly holding on, with between 35-38pts.

18........Hull...............33-35pts

19........QPR..............33-35pts

20........Sunderland. 32-34pts

lets face it,.... its sort of wow, but why not, fans job is to belief the impossible.

Obviously, any of the othe teams picking up 2 suprising or non expected 3 pointers, outside the couple one would expect,

Then we are down.

City's remaining 8, where I believe city fans hope we produce the points,

WBA............1pt

Swansea.....3pt

Burnley........3pt

Chelsea.......0pt

Newcastle...3pt

Soton...........1pt

Sundlnd.......1-3pt

QPR..............3pt.

New manager syndrome has departed the villa, me thinks they could be the biggy to go?

Correct. United obviously a difficult game but Sherwood is a phoney and is about to be found out.

Think one of Hull, Sunderland and Villa will go down and 2 of the promoted sides.

I actually think the worst 3 teams in the league this year have been Hull, Sunderland and Villa. What do they offer the league? So boring. Overall I would say that although we've gone full retard defensively a lot, we've had a go. Burnley the same. QPR have also done OK this year, and I'd rather the stay up than the other 3.

We needed 2 clear wins on our rivals anyway. Today isn't too bad given next week's games.

We need performances like yesterday from now on though.

Keep us in it come QPR and I'd back us to do it.

Defo agree with this, hard to say which but at least one will plummet. We just have to make sure we are the one out of the current bottom three that takes advantage and given the run in(s) we have, we've got a decent shout.

I've had a review of the fixtures and I can't see it happening.

Every win we've had has been a real struggle, I just can't see us getting 4 in 8 games.

With Sunderland getting Advocaat in and Hull having the hardest run-in I've always thought they were the ones to aim to catch.

It's still do-able but the games are running out.

Win against Sunderland, QPR, Burnley and Newcastle and. QPR will need 10 points from 6 games, Burnley 9 from 6 and hull 6 from 7 to catch us.

That's if we lose against WBA, chelsea, Southampton and Swansea.

Not easy, but not impossible to win those 4 and make it very difficult for those around us.

Results will go for and against us anyway. We have to focus on our fixtures. we do have a game in hand, yeah I know it's Chelsea but if we could get a point, or even 3 it will bring us right back into the mix. Make no mistake this is going to the wire, but we have to make sure we put ourselves back with the pack sooner rather than later. 35 points may be the magic total this year

I'm getting a headache trying to work out what our rivals will do. For me, it's about the players - if they think they can win games, then they will win games, and all will be well. For so much of this season I don't think that belief has been there (I was worried after the miracle 5-3 as it was just so unreal), but I get a sense that something may have clicked.

Yes I'm an optimist, can think of worse things to be :)

Have to say that that win for Sunderland feels like a big blow after we finally got a win ourselves. I'm sure the players will feel the same. Gaining 7 points on Sunderland in only 8 games is a v big ask, even with a game in hand and a game to play against them.

That said, for me Hull remain the team we're most likely to catch out of those outside the drop zone. Everytime you look at their run in, it makes you wince. The problem is they are still 6 points ahead with a much better goal difference....

for NP to get 7 points from the next 3 games would surely put him in run in for manager of the month aswell.

an 86th minute winner takes us from first win in three months to 'Pearson wins mom award'. Only on FT!
