We need to ban the following words / phrases:

"run in"

"in [possessive adjective] hands"

" [x] amount of points should do it"

For the sake of the sanity of foxestalkers everywhere.

Our run-in should make us favourites to beat the drop, I think 4 points may do it. The important thing is we have put things in our hands, although Sunderland will be thinking it is back in their hands despite their own difficult run-in.

Oh the joys of following Leicester. Get the atmosphere right at the KP and it can make all the difference, would like to see us outside the bottom 3 before the last game not good for the old ticker

True. Probably the opposite is true at Newcastle at the moment I think the atmosphere will be really hostile against West brom. Unless Carver is gone, can see the players dreading playing at home next week. If Sunderland can beat Southampton at home so can we. I just hope it doesn't go to last game of the season.... Not sure I can take it :) then again, part of the remit of being a Leicester fan I guess. Can see it happening

Newcastle won't sack Carver. He was put in place to keep the seat warm until the summer. If they sack him they'll be promoting from within again, and that's hardly worked out well this time. If they keep promoting coaching staff to the managers role and then sacking them they might as well let Ashley manage the team.

The championship finished today so Steve Mcclaren is available. I hope they don't but could happen.... big bonus to stay up, by no means impossible

Er no. Spurious logic. We are three goals better off v Hull, 2 better off v Aston Villa and 3 goals better off v Newcastle, etc.

Hehe 6 v Newcastle. I'm just being pedantic though. Your point is good. :)

There is only 1....... to make sure.

7pts at least. 41pts. 38pts at present is no guarantee.

I see villa getting the points.

Most likely who wins between Newcastle and WBA will be safe, plus Brom have Burnley also at home.

Hull also have Burnley, at home.

capable of something from tottenham.

Like many others we need something from Sunderland.

What gives us the advantage...it really is still in our hands.

Newcastle don't deserve to be in this league, gutless and a disgrace. It's a shame because it's not the fault of the fans who were the only thing decent about them today.

I cannot see how Newcastle are going to pick up another point. I genuinely believe they are currently not far off Derby 07/08 level.

If arsenal beat Hull by two then we go ahead of Hull on goals scored, I think.

It's just too close to call at the moment, but at least we can be thankful that Burnley and QPR are as good as gone.

If they wanted McClaren they could have gone for him when Pardew left. I'm sure he would have jumped at the chance to manage a Premier league in a comfortable mid-table position. They are clearly waiting until the end of the season for someone to either end a contract or walk away from a club, something they wouldn't have needed to do with McClaren. Rumours were that they were waiting on Frank De Boer leaving Ajax.

QPR will be relegated before we play them, if we lose to them on the last day of the season at home, then we will only have ourselves to blame.

Which worries me a little. How often do you see a team who no longer have the weight of apprehension on them strat playing well? Having said that, hopefully we'll be safe before then.

2 goals better off....may be important

I see only a reference to goals and not points. Therefore it depends on the point of reference.

Not against teams battling for survival, and not a bunch of mercenaries like QPR.

Normally happens when relegated teams play upper mid table teams, not when they play teams with something to play for.

3 more points will do it for us. Sunderland and Hulls run ins mean i cant see both of them winning another match, factor in how abysmal Newcastle are and can you really see them all 3 of them picking up more points than us? Not for me.

big picture is that our fate is still in our hands.

As of now, it not like those awful seasons where we had to win and hope someone else lose on the last day.

Even given Newcastle's awfulness it was a great achivement to bounce back from Chelsea and really go at them. That shows real character and we've stil won five of our last six matches.

Keep playing like that and the odds of survival look reasonable.

Fair point, but they thought there was no way they would go down when pardew left and would be able to wait. They have no chance of De Boer if they get relegated. A few months ago NP was almost sacked now he is probably one of the safest managers in the league. Things change, in football very quickly. If you were Ashley would you stick or twist?
