filbertway Posted 14 May 2015 Posted 14 May 2015 I thought half this forum said that Kasper was shite and should be dropped from the starting 11? Same as Schlupp and Wes... He was and he should have in my opinion. Do you not think he has improved his all round game since returning from injury? To be honest it could be down to Huth coming in, but he looks a lot more commanding in the air for me.
4everfox Posted 14 May 2015 Posted 14 May 2015 It would be a massive blow to lose Kasper but he isn't irreplaceable. With that in mind I think Rene Adler would be a suitable replacement.
TJB-fox Posted 14 May 2015 Posted 14 May 2015 He is a great keeper and seems to have worked on his game a hell of a lot since the injury. However, out of the 'spine' of our side I would say he is replaceable. From Arsenals point of view is he really the keeper to win them titles or are they going to buy a top keeper alongside him and sell Ospina and WS. In that case he isnt the sort of guy to allow himself to be benched. Think he'll stay though, seems to have a settled family and a great relationship with Pearson
Royston. Posted 15 May 2015 Posted 15 May 2015 They have Sczcsny and Ospina, if he were to go there he wouldnt be guaranteed a starting spot. I see Spurs as more likely. Lloris is surely looking for an escape, Vorm has melted and Friedel has just retired. Theyve been linked previously too. Really would like to keep him though, lucky to have him in some ways Spurs to throw the game versus hull as they have a better chance of signing kasper if we go down?????? dont worry, im going bed in a minute.
Oxfordfox83 Posted 15 May 2015 Posted 15 May 2015 I agree with Raw Dykes he has been better since he returned from injury (which needs to continue for 2 more games!). However, I think the different formation must be the reason for this. There is no other reason I can think of - he seems more confident and composed; I guess Huth must have played a part in his improvement. I don't think he'll leave - unless we get offered more than he's worth and he is happy not to be first choice ie I don't think he's any better than other goalkeepers in the top half of the Premier League. The formation helped our all round game, but Kasper has been reborn. His pre-injury game was as bad as it's ever been, now he's never been better. I wonder whether Schwarzer has had anything to do with that, because KS's strengths are still almost unique (only de Gea does the splits/starfish as well as Kasper), but his control of the high ball has come on immeasurably...
Foxymcoxy Posted 15 May 2015 Posted 15 May 2015 I thought half this forum said that Kasper was shite and should be dropped from the starting 11? Same as Schlupp and Wes... Wes absolutely should have been dropped earlier in the season. He's coming good now though.
mackiepas Posted 15 May 2015 Posted 15 May 2015 Funny how this rumour starts the weekend leading upto Man Utd v arsenal .. Don't buy it, arsenals fans don't seem to impressed on their forum either
Ollie93 Posted 15 May 2015 Posted 15 May 2015 IF this is true a high price can be demanded with 3 years left on his contract. Good goalkeepers are hard to come by and Kasper still has time to learn.

dylanlegend Posted 15 May 2015 Posted 15 May 2015 At the start of the year he was poor mainly at set pieces. I think the arrival of a big tall CB in huth has protected him more from set pieces. He is a good shot stopper and excellent at distribution but if we sold and bought in David Marshall from Cardiff to replace him it would be good business
Guest Col city fan Posted 15 May 2015 Posted 15 May 2015 Wes absolutely should have been dropped earlier in the season. He's coming good now though. Just showed to me how quickly people can jump on a player's back. Wes' stats are some of the best in the division. Without him blocking so many shots we'd have been already relegated IMO.

A lot of people would argue he has only had to put in so many last ditchers because he's been out of position in the first place. I never jumped on his back but I do think he should have been dropped. He was horribly out of sorts for quite a long period and anybody else in the squad would have been dropped. I personally don't agree with making anyone undroppable, even the captain so he would have been on the bench for at least a few weeks. He wasn't dropped and he got through that period manfully and has come out stronger for it. Good for him, but that doesn't necessarily make it the right decision. I don't agree with all the credit for his and Wasyls form going to Huth either but obviously he has been part of what's changed.

Similarly people will argue that Big Wes had to put so many last ditchers in, because the ball was caught/punched clear by Kasper who was rooted to his line prior to his injury, so there was far more 'second balls' in our box than there should have been. Or that opposing midfield runs weren't tracked by our midfielders, causing Wes to have to leave 'his' man and dive across the goal Elsewhere I've said that Wes has had a few bad halves of football during the team's poor run, but many more were awful

He looked lost on the pitch at times, struggling to keep a defensive line and you could see panic in his face when the ball came his way. That went on for quite some time. He definitely wasn't the only problem and I never would have said that but I thought he should have been dropped earlier in the season and I stand by that even though he's playing really well now and more than deserves his place again.
willie-bell-in-rothley Posted 15 May 2015 Posted 15 May 2015 Wenger just stated on SSN that he is not interested in signing Petr Cech or any other keeper as he already has 3 world class keepers 15.20pm

Guest Col city fan Posted 15 May 2015 Posted 15 May 2015 How on earth can you say that, you have no idea what the blocks were like, whether they would have seen saved etc. What I'm saying is that far from 'Calamity Morgan' he's laid his life on the line for the team on countless occasions this season. He has made errors, yes, usually during times when the whole team has looked stink and he has had very little support from the team as a whole. Same point I think CC is making? But it's easier to target... Personally I look at the bigger picture. That bigger picture is that Morgan has had to block so much when we've been under lots of pressure. Now we are controlling games more it's of no surprise to me he's looking a more composed player. I get accused of criticising Cambiasso? My criticism of him pales into comparison with some of the stick a number of other players have received on this forum. Wes, Kasper and of course Jeff Schlupp to name but three. That gets overlooked, no surprises there.

Finn Claw II Posted 15 May 2015 Posted 15 May 2015 I think Kasper will stay for another year. His season has been mixed (like most of the team). I doubt any of our stars will leave this season. Kasper tends to look good on MOTD making a few heroic saves, which I guess is why other fans rate him. Bit like Mingolet when was at Sunderland. Kasper has the potential to be great but he's not quite there yet.
gurru991 Posted 15 May 2015 Posted 15 May 2015 I don't believe Kasper is going anywhere, especially if there is a chance he wouldn't be the starter. He now needs to have a successful 15/16 season in the PL with City to prove himself.

ForzaFerrari Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 Kasper is the man who never wants to sit on the bench.
