Lambert09 Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 I saw on twitter claims we had a scout watching VDV and their LB/LW. Both seem positions we would be looking to strengthen in the summer, would love VDV Quote: @scoutsattending: #lcfc scout watched #vfbstuttgart 2-1 #hsv on Sat, 29yo Hamburg LB/LW Marcell Jansen & 32yo MF Rafael van der Vaart out of contract in June
FireFox Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 Marcell Jansen would be a great signing. The competition would probably help Schlupp improve.
Cat Burger Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 Jansen would be a top signing, he has got a lot to prove in his career. Former hot prospect and Germany international. VDV might come back to England now he isn't married to Sylvie. We don't want him though, he has been past it for a couple of seasons. I saw them both play this season, they lost 4-0, VDV was crap and Marcell was ok, all the goals came from their right back getting shafted by Anis Ben Hatira, a player I would love us to sign!
roblcfc84 Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 VDV would be a great signing. If anyone can get the best out of him it's NP. Playing that role behind the front two. But lb is a priority. Think JS needs to play further forward.
Lovejoy Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 RVDV is finished. Wouldn't offer enough at this stage of his career.
DeclanMC Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 Doubt NFP would touch VDV with a bargepole. Echo that Jansen would be a great signing. Him and schlupp as LWB next season would be superb, imagine we could do a deal too.
CosbehFox Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 He's done. Jansen is one of the few Hamburg players worth having.
Swarles Barkley Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 RVDV is finished. Wouldn't offer enough at this stage of his career. I said that about cambiasso when we signed him......
Cat Burger Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 I said that about cambiasso when we signed him...... Cambiasso was still performing for Inter, he was released much to the disappointment of many of their fans. Inter are struggling but it is nothing like the decline of Hamburg. They are terrible, they currently look like they are going down. It's a different story, I'd say we're easily better than Hamburg.
Babylon Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 Pearson and the scouts love a free signing, I honestly wouldn't be shocked if we had watched him.
Narborough_fox Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 I'd take Jansen. Free transfer, Germany international and can also play as a winger helping to improve two positions. Not so sure about Van der Vaart but he's still only 32 and if anyone could get anything out of him I think it would be Pearson. He'd help Mahrez to settle into the number 10 role if we continue with 3-4-1-2 as well. Maybe worth a year.
4everfox Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 Van der Vaart doesn't strike me as a "Pearson" guy. Janssen could be though, he's like de Laet but left footed and much better. He wouldn't come to be back up to Schlupp though as he is better.
FrankieADZ Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 I thought VDV was going to the MLS....& he doesnt strike me as the NP type of player either.... Jansen I'd take for sure
shen Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 VDV probably going back to Ajax. They've offered him a deal, but he's yet to accept it.
Callabinho Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 VDV has passed it like many have suggested. Merely a luxury player at best now.
les-tah Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 the only worry is hamburg are about bottom of the bundesliga and they are not renewing his contract? im just reading between the lines.
Guest Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 I love how many times I read that "so and so" is not a Pearson type player.
Callabinho Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 Just mentioned this to a friend I have in Germany. He suggests he still has enough to grace the PL.
LCCFox96 Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 Seems a bit of a luxury player to me. My mate who has a ST at Spurs said the same of VDV when he played there. Great if you're 2,3-0 up but a nightmare if you're losing. Give he's 3 years older now and we play at the opposite end of the division to Spurs I'd say he'd be a risky signing. Jansen on the other hand would be a fantastic addition and would really address our left back issue and help Schlupp develop in that position.
AyewJoking Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 If we're talking of Hamburg, does anyone know how Heiko Westermann's been performing? Always rated him in the past, so versatile, though I know he's quite susceptible to the odd injury. getting his dick caught in the letter box and stuff like that?
MC Prussian Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 If we're talking of Hamburg, does anyone know how Heiko Westermann's been performing? Always rated him in the past, so versatile, though I know he's quite susceptible to the odd injury !! I think he was partly to blame for Harnik's goal in the game against Stuttgart the other day, probably just a synonym for the current struggles of Hamburg as anybody else in that squad. His contract is also running out at the end of this season, but the club haven't decided yet whether they'd like to have him sign a new deal. Basically depends on the outcome of the final day of the 14/15 campaign - and when we'll all sign if they managed to stay in the Bundesliga for another year.
