HUTH!

There's only 3 weeks left until pre season. Nige wants his squad in place for pre season. Confident he's coming here.

So we are going to see a lot of movement over the next 3 weeks then?

If he was coming it would have been done by now.

Why?

We flew to Thailand by the time we got back most of the Stoke high up's would have gone away.

We could have tied it all up with him as they know we want him and they will sell.

All we need is for them to agree a price.

But Huth is on his hols with his family so nothing will happen.

Why at this time of year do people think no news is bad news.

How many people do you think are involved and they all take holidays.

If he were a free agent Huth could take his time and weigh up his actions. Trouble is he's still Stoke's player, therefore Hughes and his board will be looking for the best deal for the club, rather than the player. Having said that, I would be highly surprised if Rudders hasn't been in talks with Stoke to see what the fee might be. Would imagine the player himself would prefer to come here, especially after the way he was lauded by the faithful. That will probably ensure him signing as a Fox, providing that we don't f**k Stoke about re the fee!

You also have to factor in his manager he will want a fee from the sale.

They may have agreed x on a 3m deal if we offer 3.5m he will want Y.

Nothing will happen till all 3 parts can sit and talk + Huth.

These guys are professional footballers. It's their job. They will do the best for them, their families and their future. The fact that we loved him will be well down on his list.

I'm not too worried about it. If he comes back that would be fantastic, but if he decides not to, I'm sure Nige will sort something else out. I feel the same about Cambiasso. We all know how good they were last season and we would all want them back, but I wouldn't lose any sleep about it if the chose otherwise.

I would. Pearson does not have a faultless transfer record. Yes he has signed some excellent players, but plenty of duds too. Last season, I'd say it was 50/50.

Whilst Huth is replaceable, there's certainly a risk in bringing a different player in, considering what a resounding success he was.

I'd suggest Cambiasso is much harder replaced. He obviously brings far more than just his on field quality, he has leadership skills that are all too rare in footballers.

Stoke will absolutely get us into a bidding war if more than one club is interested. They'll want as much as they can. Only after we have agreed a fee will Huth have the option of coming... Even if we do agree a fee I'm pretty sure every prem team will know how much we will pay to give them the chance to go higher...

Stoke have no loyalty to us and I don't expect them to either...

Thing is, we know that whatever we pay realistically we have still made a profit on him. He was a huge influence in us staying in the league so say another team put a limit of £5m on him, I wouldn't bet against us going to £5.5 to secure the signing.

The club must have learn a lot about our recruitment last year and hopefully now understand that for the right player you need to pay the price.

Leicester are lining-up a £2.5m bid for Stoke centre-half Robert Huth.

Huth played a key role in Leicester ’s dramatic escape from relegation during a 14-game loan spell after moving to the King Power Stadium in January.

He has a year left on his contract at Stoke and the club’s chief executive Tony Scholes said: “He’s still our player and he has been a fantastic player and servant for Stoke. The only thing that’s changed, in a way, is the way Mark Hughes wants to play.

“Robert showed everyone again what he can do playing in the Premier League when he went on loan to Leicester.

"He’s a very experienced, very dependable top-flight centre-back, so we will see where we will get to.”

Huth cost Stoke £5m from Middlesbrough in August 2009 and has made 187 appearances for the club

According to the poll on there, 29% of leicester fans don't want Huth.

Now I know there'll be a few fans from other clubs (mostly Stoke) voting 'No' but even so...

Any leicester fan would have to be deluded to not want him back for at least another year!

Not wanting Huth is like not wanting Ricky Hatton as your personal security guard.

He's critical for Morgan at CB.

I guess it depends which version of the Hitman you're getting?

Where has the £2.5M figure come from? Would be a steal if true.

Fantastic price if true.

Our (almost) first choice squad would surely be one of the cheapest in the prem if so..

Schmeichel - 1.7M

Huth - 2.5M

Morgan - 1.1M

Fuchs - Free

Schlupp - Free (Academy)

Albrighton - Free

Cambiasso - Free

King - Free (Academy)

Mahrez - 0.4M

Vardy - 1M

Nugent - Free

6.7M going by the fees on Transfermarkt. Obviously that goes up significantly with Kramaric/Ulloa, and sub-1M players like James/DD/RDL would nudge it up a bit more, but if we put out that squad I don't think too many of us on here would be complaining.

And only Schmeichel is a non-Pearson signing. Very astute is our Nige.

I think Nugent wasn't a Pearson signing either, but yes, pretty good business. I sort of hope he isn't too concerned about getting a good deal, because we aren't in the tight financial situation we were in one or two years ago. Splash the cash a little to get the right players if needed.

I reckon Nige, Top and team will spend on the players they have earmarked.  I am sure we will be getting a lot of transfer news. almost all in coming in the next month.  If the fan's expect us to be competing with the top 6 for players and fees they are kidding themselves. I would guess with the free transfers and then fee paid for players we will spend around 20 mil would be my estimate.

Huth is a very important piece to get in as many on here have said.  Fits the team and style and he knows he is first name on the team sheet here.  I am sure the clubs are just haggling over the cost.  I would put good money on Huth being a full time Fox in July.

We HAVE to get him signed up. I literally cannot think of anyone better we could realistically get without spending a hell of a lot. A solid and reliable defender at Premier League level - even a lot of the top clubs have been found wanting that department in the past few years. It's easy to laugh at the shout of "Man Utd could've done worse" on the last page but is he any worse than Smalling or Blackett? Is he worse than Distin? Chiriches? Lovren? I'm not convinced a single one of those could've done the job for us that Huth did last season. We've gotten bloody lucky that Stoke are going all out to bring in more technical centre halves. I will be absolutely gutted if he doesn't sign.

Correct Nuge was one of Sven's free agents that he brought in!

I would rather have Anthony Joshua.

£2.5? Bloody steal!

He cost them 5 and he only has a year left. That's not a steal. It's realistic. Hope it's true as it shows us getting away from the 'market stall' type dealing attitude we seemed to be on last summer.

It would only be realistic if no-one else wanted him.

Steal!

But he'll cost us more than that.
