Villa are one of the few to have never been out of the top flight tho. Also my Villa supporting mate from secondary school totally lorded it over us in the 90s and I know somewhere he will be watching them get relegated while we win the league....

Neither had Cov, look at them now, although I think they might have slightly improved in the last year but they're still in L1 and won't be being promoted this season. For what it's worth I can see Villa ending up in L1, not necessarily getting relegated again next season, but in a few years I can see them sliding - I can't see them bouncing back to the Premier League put it that way.

To say they've never been out of the top flight is factually incorrect, as they've been part of the top division for more than 25 years now following promotion in 1988. But I do sense it must feel like forever for Villa fans.

They got relegated from the top flight in 1987. The top flight started before 1992.
