The Horse's Mouth Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Why would anyone believe Warner? He's more corrupt than Blatter.

stripeyfox Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 I wouldn't want to guess how this is all going to end. The danger is not much changes. African and Asian federations hold the balance of power and they have probably benefitted the most from Blatter's "redistribution of wealth". CAF has already said it will vote for whoever Blatter recommends. They don't want to see the balance of power go back to Europe. Best case scenario: Blatter goes to jail, 2022 WC bid re run, European head of FIFA? Worst case scenario: Blatter enjoys his retirement whilst still pulling strings, Qatar retains WC, African or Asian "puppet" head of FIFA
Guest Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 I just want to know when fifa will release a sequel to their sepp blatter film.

davieG Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 Fifa crisis: Russia & Qatar 'may have bought votes' Russia and Qatar may have had to pay bribes to secure their World Cups, Sepp Blatter's former special advisor has suggested. Guido Tognoni worked "extremely closely" with the Fifa president during Blatter's second term. "In Fifa, for many years, you could only reach your goal by taking dollars in your hands," Tognoni told BBC Sport. Fifa said investigations into such claims were ongoing and, as yet, there was no evidence of wrongdoing. The bidding process for the 2018 and 2022 tournaments is the subject of a Swiss criminal investigation. Asked if countries had any choice other than to bribe Fifa during the bidding process, Tognoni replied: "This speculation is permitted, yes." Russia and Qatar deny wrongdoing, while Blatter has not been named in a separate US criminal investigation into widespread corruption at Fifa. Domenico Scala, head of Fifa's audit and compliance committee, said if evidence emerges from either the US or Swiss investigations which shows the result was affected by bought votes, the "awards could be cancelled". However, Tognoni, who was Blatter's right-hand man for a period in the mid-90s and again between 2001-2003, said he did not think the World Cups would be taken away from Russia or Qatar. "Even if there is evidence that Fifa people were bribed, where is the problem - with Fifa, or the people who had no choice but to get the World Cup with bribing?" In response, Fifa said in a statement on Monday: "Fifa initiated the investigation by the Swiss authorities precisely to answer questions such as this. "However, while investigations are ongoing, it should be noted that to date, no evidence has come to light to suggest there are any legal grounds for rescinding the current Fifa World Cup selections." Seven senior Fifa officials were arrested last month in high-profile dawn raids at a Zurich hotel, where they had been staying before the presidential election. They are among 14 people charged by US prosecutors, who allege that bribes and kickbacks of more than $150m (£100m) were accepted over a 24-year period.
davieG Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 Fifa: Sepp Blatter fires PR chief over joke on television Fifa communications director Walter De Gregorio has been sacked after sealing his fate with a joke about the governing body on Swiss TV. Gregorio told Swiss chat show Schawinski: "The Fifa president, secretary general and communications director are all travelling in a car. Who's driving? The police." Fifa announced in a statement that De Gregorio had "relinquished his office". But the BBC understands he was asked to leave by president Sepp Blatter. Blatter himself announced earlier this month that he would stand down as Fifa president following a new election, just two days after winning re-election for a fifth term. That followed the arrest of seven top Fifa officials in a massive FBI corruption probe. De Gregorio, who has held the role since September 2011, is also understood to have clashed with Blatter after a disagreement with one of his allies. The 50-year-old was unhappy with an article in a Swiss magazine called Klein Report in which he was criticised by Klaus J Stohlker, a PR professional utilised on an ad-hoc basis by Blatter. He is then understood to have confronted Blatter and asked him whether he agreed with the views expressed by Stohlker. Fifa said in its statement that De Gregorio would remain with the organisation on a consultancy basis until the end of the year.
Jattdogg Posted 14 June 2015 Posted 14 June 2015 http://www.thescore.com/liga/news/780075 Report: Sepp Blatter may seek to remain as FIFA president despite resignation announcement Sepp Blatter may have lied to us all, and could be prepared to renege on a promise. Who could have predicted this ... The embattled Swiss administrator announced last month that he intended to resign his post as FIFA president amidst the ongoing corruption scandal that has engulfed football's governing body. However, he could now seek to remain as the most powerful man in the sport, according to a report Saturday from Swiss newspaper Schweiz am Sonntag. Quoting an anonymous source, the report claims the 79-year-old has received support from various corners of the football world, and is now considering keeping the role that he's maintained with an iron grip since 1998. The Guardian has more details: The newspaper said it had information that Blatter had received messages of support from African and Asian football associations asking him to rethink his decision to step down. The source told the paper Blatter was honoured by the support and had not ruled out remaining in office. FIFA did not immediately reply to a request for comment ... The newspaper also suggested that Blatter’s renewed interest in the job was another reason for the departure of Walter de Gregorio as FIFA's director of communications, since he had argued for a new start and advised Blatter to go. De Gregorio declined to comment. And you thought this story was over.
Wymsey Posted 14 June 2015 Posted 14 June 2015 FFS! Probably even if he dies, Blatter will still rule it inside the coffin...

The corrupt federations will just vote for another crook to keep them on the gravy train.
Jattdogg Posted 14 June 2015 Posted 14 June 2015 Exactly. This is why eufa needs to break away. A new global organization needs to be built from the ground up with new leaders at all federations.

Press enter to return or tab to continue. Media captionMichael Lauber: "We are facing a complex investigation with many international implications" Fifa in crisis 'One of sport's most dramatic falls' Mountain goats and tighter shorts Who are the indicted Fifa officials? Is US now overreaching in Fifa scandal? Swiss prosecutors are investigating 53 cases of possible money laundering in their inquiry into bidding for the 2018 and 2022 Fifa World Cups. Attorney General Michael Lauber said the incidents had been reported by Swiss banks. He said his office was analysing a "huge amount" of seized Fifa data in its inquiry. The Swiss investigation is running in parallel to one being carried out by the US. The 2018 and 2022 World Cups were awarded to Russia and Qatar respectively. But leading Fifa official Domenico Scala has said the awards couldbe cancelled if evidence emerges of bribery. Both countries deny any wrongdoing. 'Complex' inquiry Fifa is facing claims of widespread corruption after Swiss police raided a hotel in Zurich - where Fifa is based - and arrested seven of its top executives last month. The seven were held at the request of the US justice department which has charged 14 current and former Fifa officials and associates on charges of "rampant, systemic, and deep-rooted" corruption. The charges follow a three-year inquiry by the FBI. Also in May, Swiss prosecutors opened separate criminal proceedings "against persons unknown on suspicion of criminal mismanagement and of money laundering" in connection with the 2018 and 2022 World Cups. However, until now, much less has been revealed about the Swiss investigation than the inquiry being led by the FBI. Mr Lauber told a news conference that the investigation was "huge and complex on many levels" and would take a long time. "We note positively that banks in Switzerland did fulfil their duties to file suspicious activity reports. Partly in addition to 104 banking relations already known to the authorities, banks announced 53 suspicious banking relations via the anti-money-laundering framework of Switzerland," he said. Mr Lauber said he did not rule out interviews with Fifa president Sepp Blatter as part of his investigation. Mr Blatter has denied any wrongdoing and announced earlier this month that he will resign. Mr Lauber said his investigation was separate from that being carried out by the FBI and that documents and data would not be shared automatically with the US. He added: "The world of football needs to be patient. By its nature, this investigation will take more than the legendary 90 minutes."
