Sepp Blatter Resigns From FIFA Presidency

It isn't bad news by any stretch but it isn't as good as people are making it out to be. Blatter's contributed significantly to the culture of corruption and it'll take more than just his resignation to reverse things.

Hope the cops still get to him.true cvnt

Wish I could believe there'd be someone less corrupt taking over.

This is the problem. Fifa needs a complete overhaul! This is a chance to build the kind of organization that should run world football but I fear that it will just be more of the same!

Sometimes you've jus got to use capital letters Scouse. Surely even you appreciate that?

im pretty sure that, as steps famously covered on the christmas smash hits in '99, it's better the devil you know

but who knows. who cares. just glad you're happy in this hard time for our club, buddy.

Im hearing Stringer has got an exclusive live interview with Blatter on sports news tonight.

Football as now got a bright future!

Its a bit sudden considering he's just won an election, is something else set to come out about him?

Maybe, when Warner went down the South African FA admitted they'd bribed him via Valcke, so if the feds get Valcke then they'll probably find out whatever there is to know about Blatter.

Until he's actually out the door though, there's always a chance it could be that some of the key sponsors are upset and it's a ploy to take the heat off - say you're going to resign, call some new elections for later in the year once the current attention on the arrests has died down then at the last minute add yourself to the ballot and everything keeps on going.

I'd guess it was pressure from sponsors.

It was reported earlier today that Qatar Airways were in advanced talks to renew their Fifa sponsorship.

Could be something to do with that?
