Nick Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 I'd rather bring Bamba back. As a steward or in Birch's role?
kingfox Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 Bloody hope not, no point getting another defender for about a year.
Babylon Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 Bloody hope not, no point getting another defender for about a year. Why is there no point, I'd imagine the point is fairly obvious. You cover the position, you spend no money and you allow Moore another year to develop.
Mark_w Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 This story seems very convenient for both parties. I mean I wouldn't be shocked if we sign him, but there's a good chance he's just trying to get as good a contract as possible from WBA and we're trying to sign Robert Huth as cheaply as possible. I assume this would help both achieve that aim.
kingfox Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 Why is there no point, I'd imagine the point is fairly obvious. You cover the position, you spend no money and you allow Moore another year to develop. We have Wasilewski for another year, Upson was a one year contract & look how that turned out. We need to develop the defence & add for the long term, buying another player for a year who makes limited appearances is a no from me.
Babylon Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 We have Wasilewski for another year, Upson was a one year contract & look how that turned out. So because Upson got injured and couldn't play it means anyone on a year contract is a waste? We need to develop the defence & add for the long term, buying another player for a year who makes limited appearances is a no from me. It's a fair opinion, but there is a point to doing it the other way.
kingfox Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 It's a fair opinion, but there is a point to doing it the other way. There's a point to developing the squad for the long term as well. I'd rather have Huth along with someone like Coates, if you're happy with McAuley for a year then that's your choice.
Soar Fox Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 Nah, couldn't wait to leave us when we were relegated to League one. Would rather get someone like Chester in.
Babylon Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 There's a point to developing the squad for the long term as well. I never said there wasn't, I said you had a fair point. You were the one saying there was no point to getting McAuley, which there is of course. It just doesn't align with your own thinking.

Do you know that players can also learn things from other players from in training and being given advice? It's not just about them playing games.
kingfox Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 Do you know that players can also learn things from other players from in training and being given advice? It's not just about them playing games. Learning from McAuley Only thing you could learn off him is, how to get torn apart by Jamie Vardy. As for advice going from Cambiasso & Huth's input, to getting input off Gareth McAuley is pretty laughable.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 Wes, Was, Huth (hopefully), Upson and now Gareth? Are we starting a walking football team made up of centre halves? Could be a back up incase Huth doesn't go through.
jock2612 Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 35 yrs old , this is really stupid i hope this is not true. I know you dont have to spend money but are we going to make the same error and just try to sign players on a free.I know Huth will cost but for f**k sake he changed our season. We HAVE to do our main transfers in the summer because if we are struggling at Christmas players will not come in Jan, which we found to our cost last year
TJB-fox Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 Same mistake as last year?^ As in the year we finished 14th? As in the free agents that kept us up? People slated NP for his transfer activity last year but he's proved time and time again he is class in the market and our survival proved that. Albrighton and Cambiasso were both on frees, so what?

steveherbe Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 Wes, Was, Huth (hopefully), Upson and now Gareth? Are we starting a walking football team made up of centre halves? Could be a back up incase Huth doesn't go through. Half these wouldn't get in my walking football team, I'd rip them apart
les-tah Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 if this is the type of transfer targets we are after this summer then 1 word. UNDERWHELMING.
Kitchandro Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 No thanks. If we're bringing in more centre backs they need to be an improvement on all the ones we currently have.
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 Not keen on this. Priority is obviously Huth then would prefer we sign 1 of Curtis Davies, James Chester, Tom Thorpe or Craig Dawson?
davieG Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 It's only a rumour, how many of them materialise into fact? Cue LCFC announce Mcauley's signing as i post this.
Bluearmy 316 Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 i have no problem with this move if it comes off. It's a like for like move to replace Upson. And he is not injury prone good lad around the club won't kick off if he doesn't play and knows the club can't see the issue. Another two center back will be signed one being Huth and probably one from Davis Chester or caulker. Don't know why people are worried by this move we all now Pearson loves an experienced free transfer
