It's not just about cost and revenue for me as simplistic and naive as that sounds.

It's about prestige as a club and how we move to the next level. A 42,000 all seater puts us apart from the likes of Southampton, Stoke, Norwich, etc. If we want to be a consistent top ten club we need to compete long term with the West Ham's, Everton's, Newcastle's, etc. It's as much about portraying yourselves as a big club.

Also we need to try and get a culture where our football club is a huge thing for our city much like the two big NE clubs. A bigger stadium so we don't have to limit ST sales to 23,000 and more people can come along. If we have any spare seats I'm all for school kids filling them up for free as we invest in our next generation of fans.

Let's not make Leicester City a closed shop for the people of Leicestershire.

Can get well on board with that. Doesn't always have to be a case of turning the place into touristville. I find it quite disappointing that genuine fans will miss out on some of these last games and I'm not blaming anyone for it, it's just the way it's fell, lets not let it happen again.

So the size of a club is determined by the stadium capacity?

Wow. I always thought it was by how many major trophies you won.

Yes it does, it goes a very long way

If we was getting 45,000 gates we would be not called little Leicester

Part 2/2 - first part about Kante.

Heard last night at the PFA awards we've had planning application approved. Summer of 2017 we'll expand the east stand to increase total capacity to circa 40k. No great surprise to me, but good to hear it confirmed.

Aren't planning applications made public?

Apologies... perhaps not 'planning application' but certainly that we'd purchased the land behind the east stand and everything was approved to expand. I've nothing to gain from lying, just wanted to share the good news with you.

I don't think anyone is accusing of lying but just that your "information" is unlikely to be accurate. The bare facts are that planning applications are made public and to everyone's knowledge, such an application has not even been submitted to date, let alone approved. That's not to say there aren't some discussions going on but the club can't just whack up a new stand without getting approval and that could take weeks or months - and there is no guarantee that it would even be approved.

Yeah, I think that's why they're targeting summer of 2017. It wasn't a Q&A so sadly I couldn't quiz him further... I guess watch this space.

He also said Mahrez cost €450k. Fact. Don't let anyone tell you differently!

I very much hope you're right by the way - but I won't be sold until I see the planning application go in!

It would be wonderful to be able to go along more often. I've been a city fan all my life, i'm 48 now. I've brought my family up in london to be city fans, and we've had some remarks on here along the way about us, and the accent we have, but we're city through and through and as passionate as anyone else on here. But with the price of a day trip to the KP we can't afford to go too often, and mostly make do with a few home and a few away each season. We toyed with the idea of having 2 season tickets between the 3 of us, but it's not feasible. It would be brilliant to rock up half a dozen times a season and see a game, but with this success it's just not possible to get a sniff at tickets, and i fully appreciate and understand it. I doubt we'd get a look in on 23k season tickets either, they'll sell out to higher priority members, as they should do. So our only hope is for the the stadium to expand. I really hope they make this happen in the near future. :(

That was back in 2014 with sealed bids, as they've not updated the sign one can assume it's sold. They do have the Electricity shed in between that I'm fairly sure they don't  own

I hope they expand the stadium aswell buddy

There are lots of fans like you and I that only get to a few games here and there mainly due to the ticket issues etc

Frustrating as I've certainly been to hundreds of city games in the past

Oh well it's the price of success I suppose

Up the Foxes

Expand the stadium ASAP please City

It would be interesting to know how long work would take time complete.

Cardiff took a season didn't they? I think that's a good marker to use, the new Liverpool stand is much more complex so is taking much longer. As long as we're not doing anything too fancy I don't see why is should take longer than 12 months.

Yeah, that's the closest recent project in terms of complexity. Preparatory work took place in the summer and actual construction began in November I think (effectively building the stand "behind" the existing one). At the end of the season the remove the roof and join it all up ready for the new season. I assume it could be done quicker but only by closing the stand which is not really practical.

I was analysing and looking at the East Stand on Sunday trying to think and imagine what it'd look like with an additional tier. I feel it could look excellent if done right. This is assuming it's the East Stand that is planned for the expansion. They may even incorporate both stands for the expansion - Family and East maybe?

I still love the idea of a double decker Kop.

WE have that land for the fans village which I posted on her a few weeks or months ago. Holiday Inn is or will be ours and a casino is being planned to be built on site.
