Probably

Just because you own land doesn't mean you can put whatever you want there.

yeah red tape i get you but its not like we want to build a hotel, just add a tier to a stadium which is purpose built for expansion which the council will no doubt know about since they gave the club permission to build the thing in the first place.

I don't particularly mind which stand may get the expansion in the near future, but adding another tier onto the Kop would be superb in my opinion. With Union FS and the current flags at the back of the Kop at the moment, adding an additional tier would make our Kop have even more character and I think it'd look fantastic. Imagine the atmosphere as well.

I wasn't that fussed about this a year or so ago but now it is practically impossible to get tickets, I am all for this as soon as possible, especially as we will have made much more money this year and that can go towards it. We sell out every week so no reason to think we can't fill a 40k+ stadium in the Prem. Would love to see the area around the stadium developed more too

Yes, almost certainly. Pretty much anyone who owns land has to get permission from their local authority for large external changes. I guess it's possible there may have been something in the original permission from way back when about expansion but that sort of condition would probably be time-limited to 3 years or so. So long expired by now.

....and we didn't meet the conditions imposed re travel plans from the original build.

The club will need to come up with something that is achievable regards travel and parking in any new proposal.

I recommend making a substantial contribution to getting the Ivanhoe/National Forest line up and running. This could bring in all train travellers and people to the north west of Leicester.

Its the family stand that has been earmarked for an additional tier first ahead of the the top along with the east stand, it could be suggested that the family stand and Kop are swapped around to expand the kop but I can't see it happening myself.

A 15,000 extra capacity tier, costing say £100m would attract an income estimate at £20m a year and therefore have a payback period of 5 years or a rate of return of towards 20%. This is actually a very low risk, high return project, so I'd be amazed if LCFC weren't already seriously talking to the Council.

Don't we have any spies in the Council planning department??

Are we talking about Leicester or Liverpool here?

According to that Swiss blog thing the other week Leicester made 10. something million from ticket sales last season on a capacity of 32,000. At that rate 15000 extra seats, assuming we sold out every week would add around £5 million a year.

Of course you need permission from the council. Just because the stadium was designed with expansion in mind does not mean that would be approved by the council.

Even if we had submitted plans with room for expansion. The works for expansion would have to have started within 3 years.

Ie digging footings etc. As we have been at the ground for over a decade. You are right. We have missed the boat. We have to start from scratch.

And no we haven't submitted any application.

My wife's a principal planning officer for Charnwood and therefore has colleagues at the city and county council and they have not even had discussions with the club as yet.

So, as I understand, the East Stand will be expanded first, and then for a even bigger capacity they will then expand the Family Stand? Or have I not got that quite right?

If the Family and East were expanded together that would look great.

We went to buy a persimmon house in kibworth think its 15yo the surveyor told me a rusted Mark 1 escort would be a better investment

"Heap of shit he said"

Same in harborough ...... Beware

Kibworth born and bread for 20 years before I moved out my Mum and Dad's, lovely village but it's got a lot busier than it used to be.

Just a polite note to say that the OP was nearly a year ago but the poll is still only about 50% to expand.

At this point I can't see us not becoming an established PL side for the next few years. And the worries of potential future administration under the current owners who are here for the long term are now at worst the same odds as us winning the Premier League at the time of the OP.

CR: "Next season it's not possible to build a new stand. The owner told me it's possible to grow the stadium (in the future)"

From radio Leicester.

Not happening any time soon then :|

More from Claudio Ranieri, whose Leicester team have gone eight hours and 10 minutes without conceding a Premier League goal, leading to a seven-point lead at the top.

"It's important to have strong line of defenders but all the team has to defend," he says.

There will be no imminent redevelopment at the KP Stadium, however, despite the Champions League being on the horizon.

By the time the stadium is expanded we'll have returned to the Championship.

Stop being such a realist lol

I sincerely hope not

We need to move as quickly as possible on this issue in my opinion and if it takes 2/3 years then fine as long as we see/hear about progress

Not having a chance of a ticket is getting beyond a joke for some long standing fans now.

Up the Foxes

It's great we are getting all this publicity, Roma being the latest club.

Yet we are getting referred to as little/ small Leicester and it's starting to pee me off.

The quicker we get this stand expanded the better.

So the size of a club is determined by the stadium capacity?

Wow. I always thought it was by how many major trophies you won.
