Sharpe's Fox Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 Would definitely take him but could see teams further along in their development also interested. Palace, Stoke and West Brom would go for Downing I'm sure.
Stevosevic Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 Only question mark I have is the price for a 31yr old by the time we kick off.
conLAD logan Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 Leicester who play without wingers. Bid for winger. Who didn't play on wing. So. Jeff is going for 20 million and he will play wing back. Or nuge is going and he will rival marhez for the role in the hole.(or psg are taking marhez for 50million.) oh I didn't the end of last season defines our formation forever?! That and Downing now plays in the hole
Dan Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 Hmm.... He's a good player to be fair to him, I just wonder if he's going to be vital enough to spend that kind of money on at that kind of age.
psychonaut Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 7m a little too much considering his age.. I'd probably go there for 5m at the very most
benpicko Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 I don't think anybody's going to doubt that he's a good player, but I'd rather Mahrez starts and grows into that position than signing a 31 year old to start, and if he isn't starting then why throw £7m at him when we have Nugent and Kramarić who can play there too?
Guest Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 Jesus Christ, why is everybody suddenly concerned about our accounts? I remember very well what happened when we went into adminstration but we all know the club's set up is entirely different now with owners that are incredible. £7m is a chunk of cash for a 31 year old but it's irrelevant - if we want to strengthen and beat the likes of Sunderland, Palace, Stoke, West Brom etc, who have a longer stay in the Prem and not half a season at the foot of the table in their favour for prospective signings, then we need to bid amounts that might warn them off. Simple. We clearly aren't going to be shy with the cash if the value is there - and by value i mean £7m outlay for better players and an improved position in the table rather than the specifics of the player.

Are you joking? Mahrez will be playing but Nuge/Kramaric over Downing? Nugent played pretty well last season but I wouldn't be surpirsed if he is struggling to get in the matchday squads next year. Karamaric - well we all have our fingers crossed he'll turn into what Walsh and Pearson clearly think he will but there was basically NOTHING to suggest that based on his play last season. Once he starts banging goals in great but even then he isn't like for like with Downing.
Robin JD Popley Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 Fuchs, Huth, Okazaki, Downing (should he join). 4 signings there that transfers us from relegation candidates to a proper Premier League side. Get it done Nigel!
simon789us Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 Don't worry about the price we ain't paying it would be an excellent signing
Tuna Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 looked a different player in the number 10 role last season and can play wide yes would take him.
simon789us Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 Where do we play everyone Upfront cambi in midfield huth at the back unstoppable
crisp packet Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 Premier league know how If you get two good premier years out of him , 7m Well spent.
4everfox Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 Yes, yes, yes! I read somewhere that we are aiming for top ten and judging by links like these I'm starting to believe it's achievable. Chances of Leicester getting relegated next season are looking slimmer and slimmer.
lgfualol Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 He'd definitely improve the squad, should try and get him for less though. I'd like us try sign someone under 29 this Summer.
Vlad the Fox Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 Lets just sign everyone for £7m £7m is the new £1m.
chicagofox Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 Why do people care how much we spend in fees and wages? If the club sanction the money then they can afford the money. I can say that because we have very shrewd businessmen in charge and a very shrewd manager. We're not taking about Mad Mandy and ****face Taylor here.

I'd be surprised if they weren't trying to negotiate the lowest possible fee for every potential signing. Age is irrelevant. It's quality that matters.
