ARM1968 Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 I'm in the same boat. Don't want him to tarnish his reputation with us, but by the same token he's a better shout than many touted for the job.
Bagworthblue Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 not sure if posted but Stringer gave a positive 'nudge and wink' on the radio but was cagey about saying too much to protect his sources.
Christoph Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 Sounds like this is certainly coming to light. I'm just happy the whole Pek thing has gone away. I'll take O'Niell over most. He'll keep us in the premier league which after PEarsons sacking, is the only thing im after now
Bagworthblue Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 If he was appointed now and we were relegated next season it would not tarnish any opinion I have of him or what he has achieved before Agree to although he has never had worse than a 30% win ratio (31.8) which in the prem is 12 wins and 36 points which wouldn't get us relegated unless we had no draws whatsoever. His average win percentage is 51% - This doesn't smack of a manager that will get us relegated.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 It'll be nice having MON associated with Leicester City again, his achievements with us have kind of been eclipsed by his supposed "failures" at Villa and Blunderland (even though he surpassed expectation).
sphericalfox Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 not sure if posted but Stringer gave a positive 'nudge and wink' on the radio but was cagey about saying too much to protect his sources. Fairly confident and I can be corrected but he did the same last time MoN was linked when we were managerless.
Mark_w Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 maybe he is just anti Leicester[/quote Idiot! You know he's not talking about you right? Idiot!
Jace Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 Leicester Vs Sunderland 1st game of the season would be interesting
wattolcfc Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 I wonder if our owners actually know anything about football in England because they've gone for 2 ex managers now and another manager who was manager of this country. Not complaining mind.
foxychik Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 I'd be really happy about this -should it happen those of us old enough to remember it was an amazing time to be a Leicester fan - Pearsons reigns have been the only thing to come close since, but have never quite hit those glory days for me at least. MON never seemed to divide opinion like Nige ( once those first 10 games were over ) he also knows how to conduct himself in front of the media. If he can bring a bit of that sparkle back this could be him finishing what he started and that would be just epic. If he fails we'll still love him
l444ry Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 You know he's not talking about you right?[/quote Isn't he? Massive apology then!
Guest bss9401 Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 No problem whatsoever with me. Come back Martin and save the day!!
Leicesterpool Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 MON I think is desperate to find another club in order he can leave as manager of Ireland, I just don't think his heart and soul is in that job. He's a much better club manager, for me coming back wouldn't be a backward step. He's a good manager and I think he can build on his previous success, however will he want to come back here!? I believe he was the first choice last time but he turned us down and so instead they went for Nigel. So would they try again this time?
ealingfox Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 Im not Irish so its not a situation I can claim to fully understand but I did wonder why there wasn't more made at the time about a Northern Irish bloke taking charge of the Republic team. Is that not seen as controversial these days?

foxychik Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 Anyone else feeling nostalgic for this place ? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toddington_services

Leicesterpool Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 Reading into some of the newspaper links on MON, it seems like they won't shed many tears over his exit, just not an international manager. This was one of my fears when he was linked to the england job a few years ago. Some have already starting talking about replacements for MON as ireland boss. https://uk.news.yahoo.com/8-contenders-could-over-martin-o-neill-ireland-164212451--spt.html#APRHlpB

The Irish job is a mess , the FAI is run by a fecking Fool Delaney and MON can't start the twat , the irish team is fairly average in key sectors and it's not really going to get better any time soon , also the whole Jack Gealish shit has really knocked him side ways the flack he has gotten for that situation He will be loved and adored back here and I for one will have a little tear in my eye when he comes out against Sunderland
ROKERITE Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 It would certainly be from the sublime to the ridiculous if O'Neill replaced Pearson. It was clear to some of us he was a busted flush when he arrived at The SOL, so to give him the job now at The KP would be inexcusable. Having said which he would, of course, start off with a handsome victory on the opening day against Sunderland, but it would be downhill after that. He would undo so much of the good Nigel Pearson has done in the last few years.
