Bagworthblue Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 , I did want Klopp, as did everyone. The reason I don't think MON is the right man for us is not because of his 'lack of recent experience in the premier league' it's because I think peoples love for him is clouding the fact that he is actually not the best person we have been linked with... shit i repped you by mistake - not sentiment for me - look at my recent posts. it is considered reasoning trust me - I think many are thinking the same. if he had never managed us before I'd be even more keen as I am worried if it does go wrong it will tarnish the way I feel about him but I think he would do well
lgfualol Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 Rob Dorsett @Dorselator 3m3 minutes ago Sky Sources: #lcfc are interested in talking to Martin O'Neill about vacant manager's job but there's been no formal approach to the FAI. Sooo, no interview today?
Jimothy Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 Sky bet has him as ODDS ON now!! He's been odds on at all bookies since this morning, including Sky.
Ozwin Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 People do understand that we were linked and almost resigned to having some American third division coach in charge just 24 hours ago right?
whitwickfox Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 apart from gaining premier status, what success have we actually had since he left?

RedSoxUK Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 People do understand that we were linked and almost resigned to having some American third division coach in charge just 24 hours ago right? R.I.P Preki
lgfualol Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 apart from gaining premier status, what success have we actually had since he left? Won League 1
Wymsey Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 Who said we were interviewing him?... We apparently haven't even contacted him...
Ricey Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 Surely those odds aren't just from us being interested to talk to him? We actually approached Hiddink and the odds never fell that dramatically.
lgfualol Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 Apparently the interview is with Klopp today, but after the owners saw the reaction for Martin they've told Klopp to Klopp off
Carlos88LCFC Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 shit i repped you by mistake - not sentiment for me - look at my recent posts it is considered reasoning trust me - I think many are thinking the same. if he had never managed us before I'd be even more keen as I am worried if it does go wrong it will tarnish the way I feel about him but I think he would do well Let me ask... If Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke were the strike force for United in this day & age do you think they would be as successful now, as they were then? When you consider CB's have got quicker, defences have become more tactical and formations have changed? I'm using them as an example because they were the first ones that spring to mind but my point is... The Premiership over the last 10 years has drastically improved and in my opinion, beyond MON. Do I think he will get us relegated? No. But do I think he is the 'big name' that's going to take us to the next level? 100% no!
Stevosevic Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 Sky are way off these days, i don't see it as credible

wattolcfc Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 apart from gaining premier status, what success have we actually had since he left? We've won 2 league titles - far more than Martin could achieve!

Albert Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 Can Albert or Qwerty confirm if his was the interview mentioned yesterday? Or if there are other names in the mix? Wasn't the name I was told yesterday but like I originally said ive no clue on number of candidates or other interviews
Mark_w Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 Wasn't the name I was told yesterday but like I originally said ive no clue on number of candidates or other interviews You were told a name yesterday? *flutters eyelashes*
hackneyfox Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 I don't know why some people have such a hard on for MoN when all he has done for the last 16 years in our hour of need is reject us. Suddenly we are in the Premier League as opposed to League 1 and he is all ears. The man doesn't have the love for this club that many think, the only reason he would join is for the money as his reputation as a manager has sunk a lot in the last 5 years. Which other managers have we employed who loved the club?
wattolcfc Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 Wasn't the name I was told yesterday but like I originally said ive no clue on number of candidates or other interviews Well you may aswel tell us who the name was, while you're here Albert
foxes_rule1978 Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 The last time he managed in this league he failed. Interestingly the last time O'Neill finished 6th with Aston Villa, Alan Curbishley got West Ham into the top 10 after avoiding relegation the previous season, would you take him on the same basis? I don't want O'Neill to fail here but at the same time I don't want sentiment to cloud the owners judgements. Failed ? He wasn't given a chance to turn it around after guiding them to 13th which was their second best league finish since they got promoted to the Prem... Ever since they have been fighting relegation same with villa... Difference between curbishley and O'Neill is massive, plus O'Neill hasn't been out of the game...
splinterdream Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 I've had a feeling about MON coming back since I saw him watching us at the end of last season. I don't think he'll drop the Ireland job though which could be a sticking point. I'd like him here though, I think he still will be a tremendous manager.
STUHILL Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 he spent £120Million and couldn't break top 4, it's hardly an extremely impressive achievement. and how much did the top 4 spend and how much were their current squad worth compared to Villa's squad when MON took over. You can twist facts as much as you like but he did a very good job with Villa.
