What I think is happening here is that the FAI has been sounded our re allowing him to leave his contract early

That is standard practice if you are thinking about employing someone but it doesn't mean you have decided to do it.

Suspect word got out in Dublin - a few people think there could be a few quid in it for a reasonable risk and hey presto - market closed and we think its a done deal

I'm led to believe that we made contact very soon after Pearson left. I have a decent contact who had heard but he didn't seem sure enough to post at the time

Love him or hate him, there is no question he is. a good manager. If he came here, he would have money at his disposal, which is something he did not have at Burnley, last season.

I wouldn't be unhappy if he came here, although not my first choice.

What are you on about???

If this is true then who was today's interview with? Ranieri?

was just going to ask that. Obv didnt go too well then? lol. Obv with SSN reporting the clubs interest, it says that someone from the club has been off the record in touch to sound him out and its been a positiv

Just not convinced this is the right move for all really. He was wonderful for us before but I can't see it happening again and it all being a bit flat in all honesty.

If he did join I think he'd be a disappointment, that said as long as he keeps us up that's all that counts.

after witnessing the MON era myself I would be more than happy for him to come back, I can't see him taking us down and he is the only person I think right now that will turn around the negativity around the club at the moment.

He is a good manager and will get the best out of the players similar to Pearson in a way. considering the other options out there this would not be a bad call at all.

GET HIM BACK!

NO NO NO! This would be horrible, fook the nostalgia! Long balls and set pieces are not going to work with this squad

To be fair thats how Pearson was in his first spell.... he had to work with the players he had and that were available to him...

People need to start trying to unite over one candidate. Think we got ahead of ourselves with Klopp and delusions of grandeur so now its back to the real world. Some people on here slating o'neill yet calling for Lennon, its a bit embarassing being as Lennon has done **** all, like absolutely **** all yet Oneill is a real club legend and has since had success guiding villa to 3 top 6 finishes. This is about the survival of Leicester city in the prem and pushing on a bit and its obvious O'Neill can achieve that. Frankly I don't give a **** about the legacy and whether it gets ruined or not, that's just about the man and the past. really we need to be thinking of the now and of the club because thats what's important, not whether o'Neill might spoil his legacy or not.

With all due respect you spout some bollox sometimes. You are obviously a young supporter who has only known success under Pearson. It annoys me so much when people refer to the MON team as "like Stoke", to see it from some of our own supporters is unbelievable. Watch the first four months of the 99/00 season then come back to the thread.

Got the impression this morning that O'Neill was a done deal but now SSN say City want to have talks this weekend and cannot find anything more from the local guys such as Rob Tanner Stringer etc.Would be nice to in someone in the know could add a bit more detail.Bit thin to close the betting as happened earlier today.

Only people gaining are the bookies although they appear as confused as everyone else.Wonder what Cambiasso is thinking about the whole saga? Would like O'Neill back I think it would give everyone a lift and give us the stability to get attract few players in to strengthen the midfield including Esteban. Please lets get it sorted over the weekend

Did you actually watch us play under O'Neill?

We played quick ball down the channels for the strikers to run on to. We played with width and wipped balls in, we had some excellent ball players in the middle who could mix it up and play nice stuff, with three big brutish no nonsense centre backs.

Essentially, very similar to what has brought us success under Pearson the back end of last season.

If you think we were some kind of Stoke under Pulis then you are massively mistaken.
