Jimothy Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 Got sacked at west brom in mid table! Also won the FA CUP at Chelsea and finished in the bundesliga where shalke usually finish Champions League at Chelsea.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 Sunderland wasn't his best time but then who would get enthused about managing them anyway?! You'd like to think he'd have got enthused really, given they were the club he supported. Massively underwhelmed by this.
BlueSi13 Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 Let's remember that most of us wanted Pearson gone after Watford in the play-offs AND in February / March this year, certainly after the cup match at Villa. At no time in nearly 5 years did anyone want MON dismissed. His place in the history of the club is secure, whatever happens second time around. Apart from a significant minority of fans who wanted him gone within the first couple of months if I recall. O'Neill never really forgave an element of our support for that.
Haydos Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 The thing is, if you believe he will fail, his reputation is already tarnished as you don't believe in him. So its nonsense. If you're being obtuse about it then I guess it is but I'm able to separate two completely different events. I'd hope a lot of our fans would be able to do that but there's also a big chunk I know are a bit simple minded. I also completely disagree with your point. Are you saying that anyone who doesn't think he'll be as good for us as he was in the past doesn't think highly of him and his reputation is ruined? It just doesn't make sense logically.

I'm saying if you are worried that by the end of his hypothetical second stint, you will no longer hold him in high regard because he will no doubt fail, then you already don't hold him that high regard. The two stints can/will be separate and if anyone can't separate them, then quite frankly they are idiots. There are plenty of other reasons not to want him but this one I think is invalid.
Jace Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 This for me. I'd like to see a plan for moving Cambiasso into a coaching role and eventual manager when MON departs in say 3 years Cambiasso may stay on another year maybe but I really don't see him wanting to live long term in Leicester waiting for a job to come for him in 3 years time to be honest.
Guest LCFC_World Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 Slightly worried that yesterday the odds were 1/8 and now they're 1/2...
roblcfc84 Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 Can I just the make the point, having lived in the north east for over 20 years and knowing a number of SAFC fans - it is one of the worst clubs to take over in the PL. Very few and I mean very few managers go there and make an impact - since their last promotion they have made no progress at all. It's a funny club - large fan Base, few quid but no-one since Reid has got the club going. Anyone who thinks he did a bad job at villa clearly hasn't seen where they have been since - not 6th that's for sure. Simple fact is MON needed backing that Randy couldn't provide to get into the top 4.

In some ways I think it would be benificial for them to go down and build a winning team. Not that I care because I really dislike them.
st albans fox Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 He probably said no again The odds shorten more than they need to because the bookies don't want to be the wrong side of an announcement. Once the dust settles and it's clear that nothing is imminent, they settle closer to where they should be based on the risk to the market.
Kitchandro Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 The owners sacked Pearson (which I still disagree with), but that's not MON's fault. Yes Pearson probably would have taken us forward again this season, but he's been sacked and now we need to get another manager in. The choice is not between Pearson or MON. The choice is between MON and another. But I'm afraid that's how he will be judged. And how the owners will be judged. Whoever we appoint it must be for the reason that we are trying to move forward. I demand progression this season. No Pearson's sacking isn't the fault of the new manager, but this isn't about the blame game, it's about the expectation that the managerial decisions will be positive for the club. The owners have made and will make huge decisions, they will live and die by that.
Heymister2015 Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 Di matteo worked with Phillips at west brom! Connections with Steve Walsh at Chelsea ! Strongest candidate for us
Number 6 Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 Why do people keep insisting with the Pearce thing? Pearce has been a bad manager throughout his career so far and never had a good time of it wherever he has gone. In fact, his records in all his jobs is remarkably similar. Gets off to a flying start for the first dozen games or so then it all goes belly up until hes sacked. I don't recall any job hes ever had being any different. Hardly the same as O'Neill is it? Agree that MON is in a completely different class to Pearce. Pearce will never achieve what MON has. Just think a MON return could pan out similarly to Pearce at Forest. Brought in as was obviously going to get a great reception and have fans on side, in reality was never up to the job. If O'Neill was hired as manager of a relegation rival would people on here be talking about his time at Villa or his time at Sunderland?
Chairman of the Bored Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 I think MON will enjoy the courting, then he'll look over his shoulders and see the tear in Keane's eye, and think "I'll break the lad's heart, better stay with Ireland for the time being." I can't see this happening. More to the point, I don't want it to happen. He has no 'unfinished business' to complete a la Pearson, just a reputation to tarnish.
LCFC FOX Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 Is Roy Keane coming in as his number 2?!? That'd be a nice link up to stuff Sunderland in game week 1! if Martin was to come back I'm guessing Keane will become Ireland's new manager
Guest Col city fan Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 it's like the never ending narrative in here. I keep reading new pages of posts and trying to remember if I have Alzheimer's or Dementia. For the love of God something needs to be announced Alzheimer's disease is a type of dementia. Along with Picks, Fronto-temporal and many others. And thus endeth the lesson on organic brain disorder for today.
willie-bell-in-rothley Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 Well up for this, come back MON (just don't bring that bearded cvnt with you). totally agree

The owners have made and will make huge decisions, they will live and die by that. That's pretty much my view. If the decision works out well, then it will have been a decent decision regardless of whether it's fully explained. I'm sure there'll be a lot of 'what ifs...' concerning Pearson, but the board will 'live and die' by our future fortunes. The new manager will either - like Taylor, Hamilton or, if my grandfather is anything to go by, Lochhead - be seen as a manager which ruins the great work of his celebrated predecessor. Or - like Gillies after Halliday, Milne after Wallace, O'Neill after McGhee - builds on it. Obviously we have to hope it's the latter. Either way, the sacking is almost certain to be seen as a pivotal moment. Right now it looks like a bad decision, simply based on the constant progress achieved year-on-year under Pearson, but history could change it into either a good intervention on the board's part, or a downright awful one.

I think you're spot on here. But what I do hope is that whoever the new manager is, he gets backing from the City faithful for sufficient time to be able to have an impact.People are sore about Pearson. Especially, I suggest, on this forum. That may affect their patience with the new geezer. It won't be easy, but the next manager will need time and support to see how things will pan out. If we lose the first game at home, for example, I dread to think what it will be like and particularly if we start the first few games badly.

Deucalion Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 The way things are going, I think I am going to win £180.
