Daniel Wellington, very well priced, lots of strap choices so you can change it up when you like.

Highly recommend this brand.

Online only

Definitely this, I am going to get one soon mate.

I'm thinking a brown leather one then get a fabric strap to switch it up.

The fabric straps do tend to get tatty quickly so would recommend investing in the leather strap

Cost me about £300 about 15 years ago

It has an olive green strap that I spent about 6 months trying to find a replacement for.  Finally found a dodgy looking website on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles that I sent £25 to & thought I'd kissed that money goodbye.  The strap came about 3 days later & is spot on.

I bought one with a leather strap recently. Beautiful watch and incredibly thin.

You can buy them in some jewellers though, I bought mine from an independent watch specialist in Cheltenham for the same price as advertised online.

I like that, still looks brand new, or has it had new glass and bezel?

Apart from the strap, I've never had to spend a penny on it - as it's kinetic.  Considering I wear it for work too (gardening) it takes some hammer.  The only thing is that the strap can get a bit grotty.  I wear it if I'm going out too, but might have to wash the strap in the shower first & hang it on the washing line.

I've got another Seiko that was about £300 too.  That's more dressy with stainless steel bezel & strap.  That's kinetic as well but there's a capacitor gone inside & loses time.  When I took it to a watch repairer he wanted about £100 to fix it.  That sits in the drawer & has done for about 5 years.

I had a Seiko kinetic but it must have been a shit one as it was only £60 odd quid and it packed up after a couple of years.

I'm in the market for a watch as mine gets through batteries every few months now for some reason, but being tight I don't want to spend more than about £75 and frankly, nothing really appeals

Boss is looking at getting Apple watches. Does any one have one? Do I want one or is it just a trendy gadget I won't get much use out of? Currently phone is used for calendar, email, text and calls. Oh and foxestalk.

I have 1. It is basically just a trendy gadget, but a very cool and nice looking 1. Feels lovely on your wrist, very comfortable. Can be used for most things but is a bit limited at the moment until watch os2 releases.

You don't need 1 but if you want 1 id recommend it.

Ive just been given a smartwatch for my birthday by the Mrs, beside the fact I never wear a watch anyway I don't get it. What is the point of them? Because all I can work out is that instead of looking at my phone to see who's ringing/texting I look at my wrist, I don't use Facebook or Twitter or a calendar, so what is the point? are notifications basically it. Seems like someone has invented an expensive gadget with no real meaningful use. I don't want to appear ungrateful but the Mrs has said I can take it back if I want.

All I asked for was a pair of AKG 451 headphones or an italalian coffee kettle. lol

Personally I'd take it back and get something you want, I tried out a 'smartwatch' a while ago and sold it within 2 weeks because it didn't do anything useful and needed charging most of the time.  I have a Garmin GPS watch for measuring my runs which is OK, the smartwatches out there don't have enough battery to be used on a 4 hour run

I want to buy a watch, with a budget of around £250. But I don't know much about them, what would people recommend?

why?

Is it for the time, as an investment or for fashion?

In reality watches are going the way of betamax as regards functionality.

I haven't worn a watch in years but own a couple of old Omegas.
