Confirmed: Ranieri new manager

Good. This club thrives under the siege mentality so let the press give us all the shit they can, at the end of the day most of them no **** all anyway

Does it though?  I know this is a cool thing to say but it's not really true.  Last season we got good press and ultimately we prospered.

Silly appointment.....Why do we think that managers that have a vowel at the end of their surname are a 'MUST HAVE' accessory at a football club ?

Nigel Pearson and all his achievements for this clown ?

No Thank you....

1. What sort of formations was he using at Monaco? Particularly in his first season where Monaco probably weren't at their best.

2. Is he interested in youth players and helping them progress?

1 : He started the season in 4-2-3-1 until November, and then 4-4-2 with a midfield in diamond :

His typical line-up would be :

Subasic

Fabinho - Carvalho - Abidal - Kurzawa

Toulalan

Moutino - Kondogbia

James

Falcao or Berbatov - Martial

2 : He was using a blend of both. On one side, he bought and brought to the world Moutiño, James Rodriguez and Kondogbia (even if Kondogbia didn't play much). On the other side, he was using old players like Abidal, Berbatov or Carvalho. I wouldn't say he is a man that didn't give a **** about young players, but he is clearly not a man really invested in the aera. He is average, and this is, most likely, the reason why he was fired for a manager much more specialised in young players.

Of course it's all relative but I think you'll find that Claudio Ranieri has achieved more in football than Nigel Pearson.

I vaguely remember you. Didn't you start a ridiculously stupid thread before?

MON rumoured to come back - people, quite rightly, make the point that he isn't what he was 10 years ago so isn't the right man now...

Ranieri confirmed - people justify it as a good appointment based on what he did 10 years ago rather than anything of note recently...

I'm underwhelmed with it all to be honest, I cant get excited about the appointment and I'll tell you why...

This appointment stands for everything that I'd hoped we'd learned not to do.

Claudio Ranieri has not been appointed because at this moment in time he's the best manager for Leicester City, he's been appointed on past glories. He's not been appointed because he's the right fit for our squad, our approach, our backroom set-up, he's been appointed because he's a 'name'. He's not been appointed, I believe, with a view that he can progress us in a sensible manner, he's been brought in as the quick fix.

We've not gone for a man whose career is on an upwards trajectory, someone ready to take the next step at LCFC and with something to prove. We've not even gone for someone who is tried and tested at what we need to do (establishing and consolidating our position). We've gone for one hell of a gamble, a bit of a punt that the man we've just handed a three-year contract to is here because he has the hunger and desire to improve our club and achieve something here.

For those reasons, I fail to be excited. I'm not saying this will not work out, I hope it does, but I'm looking at this realistically and based on the here and now of both the club and the man we've just given the job to.

Just realised, all you bastards calling him old, he's the same bloody age as me!! In the prime of his life, he'll never feel better than he does right now. Bet he can outrun most of the squad.

It's about time for your ovaltine and bed mate.

Cos you have to be up at 6am for no particular reason.  :D

Getting slaughtered on Talk Sport.  Some Muppet from The Sun saying he feels sorry for Leicester fans, an atrocious decision and that we will do a QPR. He understands our anger with the decision?!!  Apparently Bournemouth fans will be delighted by this appointment!! WTF!!

The way people supposedly in the know are talking we may as well give up now!

Getting ripped on talksport and rightly so. It just reinforces what a bad decision this is. I really do hope I'm wrong but I can see us much more likely to do a QPR or Fulham rather than a Southampton or Swansea

That last one is barely a connection lol lol lol

Barely a connection??? Claudio was at the KPS Maybe the owners were there and they met things happen like that.

Oh yeah that great press that wrote us off as already relegated, whatever Carragher said about us celebrating etc. It was very much us against them

so what if they met? it's just filler.

Pearson has met Mourinho - doesn't mean he's gonna be the next boss at Chelsea does it?

Our players have met Ronaldo - doesn't mean the Portuguese world class star is gonna be recommending them for Real does it?

Well I was totally behind Ranieri's appointment but if the footballing mensa gods at Talksport are saying it's a bad decision then I have no choice but to agree with them.

We can never be a Southampton or Swansea without the proper youth academy in place built over the course of many years, anyway. Certainly the case with Southampton.

Has been journeyman who has been fired more times than he has resigned or gone on to better things.

No experience with a premier league club with a small budget.

No premier league experience in over a decade.

He is Sven in disguise

People are justifying it with what he did less than 2 years ago. Which is take monaco as keep them safe as they were in trouble. Won the league the following season, and then came second in ligue 1, behind only PSG, the hugely established side in that league.

Underwhelmed is ridiculous. Not thinking it's right direction, fair enough. I think I manager like Ranieri can attract some decent players, establish us as well as raise our profile as a club. Likelyhood is he won't be here beyond his contract but if he fulfils the task above, We would be in a better place to attract a better 'long term' manager than we are in a position to at the minute.

Leicester were big spenders in the championship? And amongst money bookies favourites? Doesn't make the job Pearson did in getting us promoted less of an achievement?

I will have that debate, once you start being balanced, rather than binning everything the man has done for the last 10 years.

But I do not agree his achievements are something to write home about!

Why you try explaining why you think this is the best step the club could've taken? The absolute right decision?

OH YESSSSSSS WILL TAKE THAT!!

This goes some way to relieving the pain of NP's sacking

Second-best name we were linked with, after Klopp.

Good work Thais, on undoing your mess.

Another that like the rest of us blames the owners.

But we know fvck all so lets trust them as they have put in millions.

Too right mate...do you still want me to come around and wipe your arse and put a clean pad on again tonight?
