ImBlue Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 I do not care about Pearson sacking. I was disappointed at the time but it happens. Shit happens in football. What I'm furious about is this not how you run a company. This is not how they would run there own personal companies outside of football. You don't have lets a sales director who has done a fantastic job bought into the their philosophy for four years and then rip up the manual and start a fresh with the company relatively naive in a new market. It's fine to change direction the issue I have is we have squad here built up on this philosophy over a period of four years which now needs to be dismantled. It needs to be dismantled by a man who has failed miserably for years. My question is we have now lost two previous weeks in a highly competitive market to sinply hire the one candidate who put his hand forward within the first few days. I want answers as a fan as to why: 1. It took so long. 2. Why Ranieri, based on his unsuccessful last few jobs is genuinely seen as the right candidate. 3 What is the philosophy the club is going to base itself on. Not spend money here and there and hope for the best but what exactly is the plan what exactly is this long term ambition? When you look at the intelligence and structure clubs like Swansea. Stoke and Southampton etc base and operate themselves on. Every fan who's got a smile on the face can seriously support this lack of direction going forward? I am genuinely asking as there is a right to turn a small club into a success in this league and then there's the QPR way. I fear we are choosing the latter. Thanks for all that. Read it until point number 2. Please tell me what he did wrong in his last club managerial position? You say you've got over the Pearson sacking, but the resentment is just seeping from your post mate.
Guest ttfn Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Irrelevant really as we don't need to win the league to be happy Quite. Fvcking ridiculous some of the ignorance on here. See Juventus and Chelsea on the CV and think he's a clown for not having won the league.
Babylon Posted 13 July 2015 Author Posted 13 July 2015 But going back to my original post that you quoted, I never said there weren't other managers out there. There are 1000's of football managers across the world, I guess the point i was trying to make was that I am much happier than I would be had we got one of the other many names that were mentioned. Yes it could be seen as a gamble with Ranieri but I am happier taking a gamble that could push the club higher than we ever thought possible than have a manager like most of the other clubs around us that have little ambition and are happy to just avoid relegation eg WBA - Pulis, Newcastle - mcclaren etc That's fair enough, it came across a bit differently having listed just those few others
The Doctor Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 I'd never heard of Gourvenecc until a fortnight a go. I think most fans would accept someone they hadn't heard of if they analysed their CV's and were impressed. For me Ranieri is someone who has managed for decades and not over performed wherever he's been. He doesn't fit the profile of a manager who wants to build a dynasty either and I don't think he'll be as ambitious and hungry as a younger man. And if we're analysing cvs, ranieris is superb.
RonnieTodger Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 For goodness sake.... only ten managers in the history of the premier league have a better win ratio... With Chelsea over 10 years ago.
BlueSi13 Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Firstly his recent club record is a hell of a lot more consistent than Svennis, and he doesn't come with a reputation of wasting money on shite. Secondly, our circumstances are now completely different to when Sven came in 2010. When Abramovich took over at Chelsea, the first person Ranieri signed was Glen Johnson.
theessexfox Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Don't really agree that this is the direction our club needs to be heading in, to me he doesn't seem a good fit for the stature and type of club we are, but time will tell, he's our manager so we have to support him.
Guest ttfn Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 When Abramovich took over at Chelsea, the first person Ranieri signed was Glen Johnson. Who at the time was the hottest property in English football. Hindsight is 20/20
Corky Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 People like linekar saying same old names getting jobs! Would he have said the same if allardyce got it? A man who hasn't managed in this league for 11 years. The same old names, clearly.
Harry - LCFC Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 I'm not thrilled tbh. I don't think he fits our current squad that well and there'll be a number of changes that need to be made as a result. After some of the names we've been given I'm just glad we haven't handed ourselves a disaster appointment.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Well after all the shite has died down and let's be honest he isn't everyone's first choice but that said good luck to the bloke, he is now our glorious leader. Up the Foxes
teblin Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 I'll be behind him. Decent track record. We will probably splash some cash too.
Wymsey Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 I'll be behind him. Decent track record. We will probably splash some cash too. How much cash have we got to spend, though?
Tielemans63 Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Pretty pleased with this, got a few reservations if I'm being 100% honest though. I'm slightly nervous that his best days are behind him however he has managed some of the best sides in the world and you dont last long at the highest level of you're not the real deal. He has been sacked a number of times but he has managed a number of Italy's top clubs and they are not renowned for their patience so I take that with a pinch of salt. I'm more positive than negative, I just have this completely ageist perception that managers pass their sell-by date when they get into their sixties. Hope I'm wrong. Good luck Claudio.
Unclebuck1983 Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 4 years ago any Leicester fan would have dealt in a second at 14th in the premier league with an Italian manager at the helm, breaking our transfer record on several occasions and our number 9 in the England squad. We should be embracing this appointment and daring to dream of more!
Gerard Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 And if we're analysing cvs, ranieris is superb. The Club's he has managed are "superb". I would argue he has generally underperformed at those clubs though. His CV is far from superb given the tools he has been given to work with.
ImBlue Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 When Abramovich took over at Chelsea, the first person Ranieri signed was Glen Johnson. Who has been playing at top level for most of his career. And Liverpool shelled nearly £20m to sign? Is it that bad?
BoneDog Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 We've signed him up then? YES GET IN THERE. Let's do this Claud me old mate.
iamafox Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 I'd be interested to know for those who said they are 'underwhelmed' or 'not excited' about Ranieri, who did you want instead?
Tielemans63 Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Great to see the fans getting behind the new guy. At least give him the chance to prove you right.
Guest ttfn Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Great to see the fans getting behind the new guy. At least give him the chance to prove you right. I think probably 70% are behind him, let's find out.
whoareyaaa Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 The Club's he has managed are "superb". I would argue he has generally underperformed at those clubs though. His CV is far from superb given the tools he has been given to work with. I read an article the other day that suggests otherwise, I'll try and pluck it out for you so you can be a little bit at ease
BlueSi13 Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Tell me where exactly he should have won the league. But isn't he supposed to be a 'world class manager'? After all the clubs he's managed in the past proves it right? Far from it, despite managing some of the biggest clubs in the world with the budgets to match, he has won next to **** all. Hence why he's joined us after the phone stopped ringing after the Greece debacle. But let's see what happens. His task is to beat 14th this season. Surely that can't be that difficult considering the mans reputation?
Danizen Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 https://twitter.com/Redknapp/status/620628397132124161 Fvck off Harry you gammy knee'd saggy faced pillock. Yet he thought he could walk into the West Ham job after his shit show of a season at QPR. He's bitter.
