Tuna Posted 14 July 2015 Posted 14 July 2015 Apparantly he wants Carrick! Expect his first signing will probably be one of those we have on the go - Sako or Konte.

thybluefox Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 I've not seen anyone suggest that. Oh? Am I the only one that is concerned that this could actually be the way the club could now be going under Ranieri? Thiago motta, Sulley Muntari, Didier Drogba, Dimitar Berbatov?? Not saying the these weren't some great players a few years ago, some world class, but now they are all past their best, and I'm sure still commanding high wages and bonuses based solely on their reputation from that era. Don't get me wrong, I highly doubt these examples will ever play for Leicester City, but I'm very nervous that we could end up with players of the same ilk, that will have no pride in the shirt, soak up Millions of pounds, and still leave us in the Championship. I really hope I'm wrong, and we sign young, eager, developing talent, but I'm fearful right now...... I would rather the Young hungry players but it's very unlikely now we have Ranieri- I fully expect us to sign a player like Drogba, Berbatov or Eto'o. It's just inevitable It will be interesting as I wonder if Ranieri has even heard of Austin, Kante and the other targets. I assume he will trust Steve Walsh based on their previous relationship but a lot of the players he "knows" will be heading towards the end of their careers.
psychonaut Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 Apparantly he wants Carrick! Expect his first signing will probably be one of those we have on the go - Sako or Konte. Where did you hear that? or are you putting 2 and 2 together as he's spoke of his admiration for him in the past and tried to sign him before?
Lesteban Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 I heard from a continental journalist who was close to him in Italy (can't remember the name, he was on one of the many radio phone ins we were mentioned in over the last few days), that Ranieri prefers to let a director of football figure handle transfers and not get involved at all in the negotiations himself. He is just providing a basic outline of what he would like to the DoF before the scouting team go away and select suitable options. So I would imagine that as before, Rudkin and Walsh will be responsible for the names we sign and Ranieri will have little to no input into the actual player we go for, aside from their desired profile.
RedSoxUK Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 Where's the Carrick thing come from??Need hard evidence on any interest for that, Carrick is a ****ign beautiful player, would change us from struggling relegation fodder to struggling mid-table fodder.

There has to be at least 10 other clubs he could jump straight into over us. I highly doubt theres any truth in that. But I agree with you...if he were here we'd be more or less complete.
WiFoxes Posted 24 July 2015 Posted 24 July 2015 Lots of smoke linking us with midfielders. One is surely coming in any day now, right guys? Right!?

Bamba's Babes Posted 24 July 2015 Posted 24 July 2015 Should this thread be named, 'Will Ranieri make a signing?'
Great Boos Up Posted 24 July 2015 Posted 24 July 2015 I heard from a continental journalist who was close to him in Italy (can't remember the name, he was on one of the many radio phone ins we were mentioned in over the last few days), that Ranieri prefers to let a director of football figure handle transfers and not get involved at all in the negotiations himself. I would agree with this at this point in time. It's too near kick off for CR to start talks with someone new when the background staff must have courting players for years. ie: Kramaric. Possibly even Esteban was first contacted after promotion and eventually signed on the last day. The clock is ticking so we must concentrate on what we are already working on. Wish I knew what those were.
A-Davis Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 Think John Obi Mikel would be a decent solid signing, doesn't really feature much for chelsea

Was exactly the same under Pearson. He let Walsh identify targets and Pearson would be part of the final decision.
VLC86 Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 Alberto Aquilani. You laugh but I saw him play against Milan last season and he was quality.
EverybodyDannsNow Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 Well he said he wants 2/3 more players, with Cambiasso leaving that means the figure is 3 rather than 2. He has 2 weeks exactly to get the required players in (2 CMs and a CB). At this moment in time I don't see a need to panic, but if we start hitting Wednesday/Thursday next week and we're still getting no where by bidding for players who are never going to play here I.e Motta then I will be concerned. I think we need to set out some realistic targets, use our Premier League appeal and money and get deals sorted so the signings have time to gel before Aug 8th. For all I know this could all be happening this second behind the scenes, but all I'm saying is that from watching this from afar, it seems we are not using this valuable transfer window time wisely
Steven Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 Joey Barton and Kevin Nolan by Wednesday You make baby Jesus cry.
