Ranieri's first signing?

Recommended Posts

Was asked if there was news on ec replacement and said, hopefully some news very shortly.

What does this mean?

"@7Footballfr: Leicester : Ranieri veut un international algérien http://t.co/qLxlmGFOez"

We're in for Slimani, whilst our attempt to sign N'golo has slowed down or something.

Cool. Replace EC (A midfielder) with another striker :appl: :appl: :nono:

No he wouldn't .

Let's put it this way. He's a much better player than Dean Hammond. If Hammond is getting games in our squad, how can any one turn their nose up at Huddlestone?

Ginger on the ball again. I like Deano but simply not good enough for where our fans and owners want us to be.

Where does Dean Hammond come into the equation? You said Tom Huddlestone would be quality for us, all I said was 'no he wouldn't'. I'm not comparing him to Hammond or saying Hammond is better, just that Huddlestode would not be quality for us. If you want my opinion as to why, that's different. IMO he's not mobile enough and not really worth paying millions for to replace Cambiasso. I agree it would be a real issue going into the season with Hammond as first choice, but to replace him with Huddlestone, no thanks.

Dean Hammond is good to bring on for the last 20 if you're 1-0 up and desperate to keep the ball, break things down etc. Apart from that, he's nothing. He's ginere.

Huddlestone would warrant a place in the starting 11. He's much better for us right now than Hammond.

Dean Hammond comes in to the equation because he's currently 1 of 3 fit central midfielders in our squad. 1 injury to Drinkwater or King and we are left with Hammond starting. That is a ridiculous situation to be in for a club who's owner openly talks about wanting to compete for European football in the near future. I'd go as far as to say that Huddlestone is better than any central midfielder we currently have on the books. He's certainly more proven at this level.

Tom Huddlestone is a very good player if you ask him to perform a role that plays to his strengths, put him in our team to replace Cambiasso and you get very little drop off (if any) in passing ability or technique. Ask him to run and chase the opposition in defence and he's not a good player. It's that simple really. He's a Garry Parker not a Robbie Savage.

I'm not quite sure where this high opinion of Leicester City football club has suddenly come from amongst our fans, compare Huddlestone to the likes of Thiago Motta then I agree he's not quality but Motta is playing for PSG and is in talks to move to Athletico Madrid. Way out of our league. People are turning their noses up at players who would instantly be an upgrade on players in our squad.

Tom Huddlestone may well be a good player but he just wouldn't fit into our style of play, we base our team around hard work, energy and pace, all of which he lacks

If it's European football they want then they'll need to replace all three, not just Hammond.

Last year was like a dream- IMO we have no chance of replacing EC. Motta, Pirlo, Xavi? No chance. Maybe ugly is better than failure? Who'd want to face Huth, Was and Barton?

My guess is either Veretout or Mendy as his first.  But I am sure we will being in I say 2 players this week and at least another 2 by close of the window. Hoping for 5 or six including loans.

A Nigel Pearson team based it around this. A team managed by Claudio will have a different approach.

I can't get my head around it really. I have been told that the way we conduct our transfers hasn't changed from Pearson to Ranieri. It was all ran through Walsh and Rudkin with managers opinions just a part of it.

It's disappointing we can't pull the likes of Mendy or Kante who at clubs in a similar position to ourselves but in Ligue 1.

My worry is that the scouting team have previously expressed that once you go past their targets 1 and 2, the quality drops off.

I'd say we are four essentials short. CB, 2 CMs and a winger.

Well at least you accept Pearson would have had the same problems as some claim we now have with Ranieri

The WG is irrelevant if we play 3-4-1-2.

If we have been turned down by Mendy & Kante that is very worrying. They would be earning a lot less at their clubs and it doesn't appear they'll be going elsewhere imminently. So it appears they'd rather stay in France with their mid table teams than come here for a lot more money.

We've been linked with some dream players like Motta & Charles Aranguiz and some what you would think would be excellent additions in Veretout, Kante & Mendy and you just wonder who we'll end up with? Probably Barton & Huddlestone.  :(

I've got a feeling that one of 2 things will happen.

Either we'll sign 1 player and 1 or 2 more will follow within a couple of days or we'll make 2 or 3 signings on deadline day in a bit of a panic and end throwing money around to get players in.

Got an awful feeling it's gonna be a bit like when we sousa in, we'll play ok ish but not get results, a big signing to please the fans will come in on deadline day but it just won't work out. Hope I'm wrong of course, but just can't shake the feeling of this happening.

He might just bring in a biggish name, or someone proven at least, just to show that we are active no matter what position it may be. But as has been said a million times already I hope that we get at least 1 centre mid, even though it's blatantly obvious we need 2

The likes of Mendy or Kante (or their agents) probably hope for a move to a bigger club than LC.

In Kante's case Marseille were sniffing but not prepared to meet Caen's asking price.Marseille now appear to have looked elsewhere at more experienced players.

Whatever ambitions these players may have,as August and deadline looms, their options will narrow and City may become more attractive
