Babylon Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 Club stability and ensuring we maintain a premier league status is key, it's something we shouldn't get carried away with now we're not the new boys BUT... It doesn't strike me with much confidence when a new manager comes in and says he is aiming for just 1 more point than last season! He has a good set up here, we have just spent £10mil + this summer with potentially a lot more and he wants only 1 more point! Stop taking everything so literally, he's foreign, what he means might not always be what comes out of his mouth. Just take it as he wants improvement.
Richmondfox Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 1 point more is better than last season, take his comment to mean he expects us to do better. It's a combination of lost in translation and managing expectations.
Finn Claw II Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 Improve is the key word. That is what I think he is saying. he doesn't sound like a fan of international management!
The other Ollie Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 Watching the reaction on here to some of his more "off the wall" comments will be interesting
RowlattsFox Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 Its also clever of Ranieri to not go over-board, otherwise he's making problems for himself if he doesn't manage to meet them.
kingcarr21 Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 Its obviously a sign of improvement gaining 1 more point than last season. He doesnt mean it literally. Thought that conference was pretty sound. 2-3 more players i think is about right. Couple of midfielders and a RB/RWB for me. Delighted he is keeping the backroom staff. Would suggest he wants to try and keep the togetherness of last season.
Stevosevic Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 He's not spoken English regularly since he left Chelsea i imagine, he's just picking it up again.
EGBFitness Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 Stop taking everything so literally, he's foreign, what he means might not always be what comes out of his mouth. Just take it as he wants improvement. What's his nationality got to do with anything? He has been learning/speaking English for 10 years so I think that is a poor excuse. Like I said its important to not get carried away thinking we will be playing for Europe etc this year but 1 point isn't really an improvement is it. For the money spent in this club already this season does it justify 1 point?
Captain... Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 He also said he is looking to double everything up, so I think he wants us to finish with 82 points, and in 28th position next season.

Mourinho comes out with some absolute horse shit that makes no sense whatsoever, I think it's common from foreign managers.
davieG Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 So did he say this - New Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri has said Esteban Cambiasso will be club captain - if he signs on for next season. Currently the Argentine midfielder has not yet put pen to paper on a new deal after playing a key role in the 'Great Escape' of 2014/15 and earning the club's Player of the Year award. Speaking at his first conference since taking the reins, Ranieri pledged to put the armband around Cambiasso should he sign. Reporters were also told the club was "hopeful" Cambiasso would return, although the veteran player was "well sought after". http://www.hinckleytimes.net/sport/football/football-news/cambiasso-captain-foxes-signs-next-9693566?
EGBFitness Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 Mourinho comes out with some absolute horse shit that makes no sense whatsoever, I think it's common from foreign managers. Yeah you're probably right, foreign managers do have a talent to just answer there own questions and confuse a journalist. To be fair to Mourinho he does it probably better than any other foreign manager.

FrankieWorthoYaggedMyWife Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 I love him. bet he does some serious slaying!
Tielemans63 Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 Blamed his failure in charge of Greece on the debt crisis there What a hero.
MattyFromLE Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 The most important thing from that interview is saying that the backroom staff doesn't need to change, too much.
lgfualol Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 Just said: "After my trip to the stadium, I am impressed very much with it but I would like to see the family stand swap with the Kop"

No direct quote, suspect it could be the Hinckley times journalist mis-hearing/misunderstanding what was said as I've not seen any other comment from any other news source.

EGBFitness Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 It seems you made up your mind about him already. To quote the late great Knockaert 'people are very idiot' I haven't made my mind up about him at all, I think he could take the club to the next level. I just believe stating that he is aiming for 1 point more than last season doesn't fulfil me with hope and encouragement for next season.

He said Esteban was a team leader and if he didn't come back we would need another team leader
