benpicko Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 Hang on - I don't think he's said anything other than he's a leader? He hasn't. He's reading a headline and pretending that's what Ranieri said because he's determined to hate him
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 Cambiasso would be the ideal captain. I just pray he stays.
AyewJoking Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 Reminds me a little of Sven. We're doomed I tell ya, fúcking doomed.
cc_star Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 You perhaps shouldn't take everything he says literally, if you do you'll be constantly moaning because there will be a lot lost in translation. Just take that as he simply wants to improve on last season. This, stop panicking, he wants to improve that's all we need to know Well that's all any manager wants, that's a given - Just the bare minimum expectation For me, to justify this summer's upheaval, his expectation is surely 'next level' stuff, but without the benefit of being established first, ie. the owners are trying a Sven-style quick fix approach to their goals, rather tyhan the continuous improvement & solid foundations approach that NP delivered. He's done nothing to allay my fears, except I'm delighted there's the chance that Shakey & Walsh will continue their work at the club
CKB Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 Perfect for the Thai brand but they will be crying tears of gold when it goes Sven's up!
The Horse's Mouth Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 Perfect for the Thai brand but they will be crying tears of gold when it goes Sven's up! Ranieri has indicated he's only wanting two or three additions, so even if he does fail he bares absolutely no comparison to sven
CKB Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 Ranieri has indicated he's only wanting two or three additions, so even if he does fail he bares absolutely no comparison to sven I just can't help but feel this will fail but I truly hope I'm proved wrong
ChrisFilter Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 Honestly, some of you lot do my head in. If he'd have said he wanted 10 news players and to finish in the top six you'd all be moaning about him being unrealistic. As it is he's saying exactly what he should say - consistency, look to build on last year with slight improvement, keep the backroom staff. Moan, moan, ****ing moan. I just can't help but feel this will fail but I truly hope I'm proved wrong Why? We have a great squad and an excellent manager. Why are we doomed?
Dynamogoon Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 Win the premier league and foxestalk would be moaning.
CKB Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 Why? We have a great squad and an excellent manager. Why are we doomed? We have a decent squad, as for excellent manager? that's questionable. Yes he has a decent cv, yes he has experience, yes he may have some contacts around the world but lately he has been far from excellent It's not doom and gloom I'm just very cautious and not confident this will work, but like I said I hope I'm proved wrong
chapero82 Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 Win the premier league and foxestalk would be moaning. Win the league by winning every game 1-0 and they would be moaning that we did not score enough goals
SemperEadem Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 Do worry that he is bringing his own staff in aswell as keeping the existing lot around.

You mean four games with a shite team that is Greece, that as he pointed out still lost to the Faroe island's without him
hackneyfox Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 We have a decent squad, as for excellent manager? that's questionable. How far back are you going?
Dynamogoon Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 Win the league by winning every game 1-0 and they would be moaning that we did not score enough goals Quite right. 1-0? Rubbish score line. If it's not 3-1 I'm ripping my Season ticket up. Bloody owners
Dan Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 lol It's like football manager, "sign for us and I'll make you captain". Exactly what I thought. My god that game needs to leave me alone.
melrose Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 Speaking on the clubs diverse outreaching of merchandise Ranieri said: 'I like the fact we have fans in Thailand, I think our store is the best in the world, however we need more hats with club logos on' And beanie hats!
EnderbyFox Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 Good comments RE: Cambiasso. Interested to see who he'll line up to replace him if he turns us down.
Captain... Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 Well that's all any manager wants, that's a given - Just the bare minimum expectation For me, to justify this summer's upheaval, his expectation is surely 'next level' stuff, but without the benefit of being established first, ie. the owners are trying a Sven-style quick fix approach to their goals, rather tyhan the continuous improvement & solid foundations approach that NP delivered. He's done nothing to allay my fears, except I'm delighted there's the chance that Shakey & Walsh will continue their work at the club The key word in there is upheaval, after the summer we have had another 14th place and 41 points would be excellent, we are not going for a Sven style quick fix, we have added a lot of experience and know how to work with our existing set up, we haven't started throwing money around we have brought in someone whose last club job was getting newly promoted Monaco to second in the league, and not overseeing the biggest farce in English Football at Notts County and getting paid 1 million in the process. Stop comparing this to Sven, there is no evidence this is anything like Sven's regime. We have attracted Ranieri on the back of an incredible season in the Prem giving him an established and settled team to take over and not by throwing a load of money at someone to take over a struggling disjointed side at the bottom of the championship. This is not Sven mark II and anyone who can draw any parallels, is doing so purely because he is experienced and foreign, at the moment that is the only comparison.
Babylon Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 What's his nationality got to do with what he says in an interview? Just cause he is a foreign manager doesn't mean he doesn't have to answer questions correctly. Have you ever spoken to someone who isn't English and doesn't have a complete grasp of the language? Are you aware that people who aren't English, who don't speak English day in day out can have problems expressing themselves in the manner they wish to. Are you aware that sometimes the meanings get lost in translation? Why am I even explaining this to you!!!! How do I know? Well he got sacked from Chelsea 11 years ago? It's been quoted that his English wasn't great during his time at Chelsea and he was learning then, his English is a lot better than what it used to be and once again has been quoted in number out news outlets that it has improved so unless he has had a bang on the head and suddenly picked up the language I'm guessing he has probably been learning it? He was at Chelsea for years, his language clearly improved over time. But again quite clearly if you've actually bothered to listen to him speak he's not fluent and struggles to find the words to express exactly what he means. See point above. Yes 1 point is clearly more than last year but over a whole season is it really an improvement!? Not really especially with how poor we was for large parts of the season. Again I hate to break it to you, but yes it is. I can only suggest you look up the definition of improvement as we're facing an uphill battle here. Yes we would like to remain a premier league club and like I have said before you just copy and quite certain posts from here we can't get carried away thinking that with 1 premier league behind us we should now be challenging for Europe BUT as mentioned in other posts I don't think it raises much expectancy for next season from a fans prospective. What exactly are you expecting then? And again i feel the need to point out you shouldn't be taking it as gospel that he literally just wants one more point that last year and that is it. We have already spent in the region of 10mil so far and been linked with 3/4 new players with CR stating he would like to sign 2/3 more players so I'm sure we will be in the region of around 20 mil this summer, like I said isn't very ambitious for the money spent. Most clubs in the league spend that amount of money each summer, if not more. It's not going to propel you up the league when most clubs are doing exactly the same.
Babylon Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 Well that's all any manager wants, that's a given - Just the bare minimum expectation For me, to justify this summer's upheaval, his expectation is surely 'next level' stuff, but without the benefit of being established first, ie. the owners are trying a Sven-style quick fix approach to their goals, rather tyhan the continuous improvement & solid foundations approach that NP delivered. He's done nothing to allay my fears, except I'm delighted there's the chance that Shakey & Walsh will continue their work at the club I'm sure it is, but he has a three year contract to make that happen. It either takes time or a shit load of money to jump quickly, until I see the latter happening then it's the route of the former we'e taking. He's not going to sit there and set grand goals.
Corky Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 Surely the one point improvement is seen as a minimum, not the limit?
Ricey Posted 20 July 2015 Posted 20 July 2015 He's certainly saying the right rings and appears to be approaching this in the right way. I don't believe Susan Whelan for one second that he was our first choice. Reading between the lines regarding the Pearson sacking, an incident or conflict was never referred to, instead a lot of terminology used to suggest the board just felt they could find someone better to build on the work he did.
