I think its actually a very astute and rather out of the box way to sweeten the deal. Im actually all for us grabbing bull by the b0llox and making our ambitions and intentions known - and if that takes a shit ton of cash now - within reason - then so be it - i'd rather like us to take our slice of the 5.1bn in broadcasting revenue the following season.

They've just finished third in a league that co-efficients score higher than the Premier League. I doubt Aranguiz is more arsed about 11 year olds in Bangkok wearing a shirt with his name on it than he is about playing in the Champions League. I'm not trying to be doom and gloom about Leicester, but I'm looking at this from a perspective of someone who's had one brief spell in Europe in his entire career. There's a lot more to the game than money. If it's money he wants, he'll come here. If it isn't, on we move. That would be a tough deal to turn down to play in the Premier League, he could use us a stepping stone if he really wanted to. The thing I think that's going against us here is the fact he's probably too old to risk using a stepping stone. It's not like Kramaric, who given the interest in him WOULD see Leicester as a stepping stone because he's young enough to play here for a while, developing into a better player before someone bigger takes a punt on him. Aranguiz is 26 years old and probably coming up to his peak in the next couple of years. I'd understand more if he was 22 but he hasn't got many years of potentially playing in the Champions League left and regardless of what some say there is literally no way we are a bigger draw than Leverkusen for anything other than money, which makes it all a bit materialistic to me anyway.

dbtcity Posted 30 July 2015 Posted 30 July 2015 Regardless of whether bayern leverkusen are a bigger more attractive option etc etc etc is irrelevant as they haven't offered enough money.... if they do he will go there, but they haven't and if reports are to be believed they have offered around 5m less than us so it's not like just upping there bid by the odd million, the money is in the bpl so it will make it tough for any bundesliga club bar probably bayern Munich, dortmand or possibly schalke to compete financially
