............... Posted 1 August 2015 Posted 1 August 2015 What do people think his role will be this season? I still think he's got something to offer, probably not as a starter mind. Be a shame to see him binned though.
st albans fox Posted 1 August 2015 Posted 1 August 2015 i expect him to go out on loan. if not this year, then certainly after the jan window.
Dan Posted 1 August 2015 Posted 1 August 2015 Think he will slip down the pecking order slightly this year. I think he's a steady player but if we want to kick on we probably have got to accept that there is better out there. I do like Nugent though and always will do.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 1 August 2015 Posted 1 August 2015 I think he'd be a useful sub. Kramaric and Okazaki need to demonstrate that they can replicate his linkup play with Vardy, not just that they're better technically.
EverybodyDannsNow Posted 1 August 2015 Posted 1 August 2015 I think there's still a place for him in the squad, I would be disappointed to see him go out on loan. His chances will be rare this season which is why he needs to perform when he does get game time. He showed towards the end of last season (before his injury) that he can be very useful
Stadt Posted 1 August 2015 Posted 1 August 2015 Sometimes I think he's not shit but then sometimes I do
Soar Fox Posted 1 August 2015 Posted 1 August 2015 we probably have got to accept that there is better out there. Shame none of them want to join us.
Danizen Posted 1 August 2015 Posted 1 August 2015 He can still do a drcent job behind the forwards. We definitely shouldn't play him up front, though. His finishing is nowhere near good enough.
Bryn Posted 1 August 2015 Posted 1 August 2015 Decent backup, noone will sign him because of his wages. Contract can't have that much longer to go? Given his all for the club, he'll still make 20 appearances next season, he's a decent number 10. Let him play out his contract.
MattyFromLE Posted 2 August 2015 Posted 2 August 2015 I don't get the negativity towards Nugent. He's obviously got his limitations, but he is a decent player. Doesn't deserve the abuse he gets on here.
Claridge Posted 2 August 2015 Posted 2 August 2015 probably a striker Whose better from 25yds out than 5. Nowhere near the quality we need in the starting line up,sub at best for some away games when an headless chicken is required in the final 20 mins
Tellmeitsjustarumour Posted 2 August 2015 Posted 2 August 2015 Probably will be used as backup this season, but has always gave and will give his best for the club when required.
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 2 August 2015 Posted 2 August 2015 Still think he's one of our best players. Works really hard, links up play intelligently and one of our only players who can score a goal out of nothing. Also a really good player to come of the bench, unlike Ulloa and Kramarić he comes on and makes a difference when the side isn't playing well.
MC Prussian Posted 2 August 2015 Posted 2 August 2015 He's an intelligent player with plenty of Premier League experience and entering the last best years of his career. He's a model pro, doesn't muck around and contributes whenever possible. His workrate is pretty good and he links up well with the other players around him. It's questionable whether he'll be a starter in league games, but can see him being given a bigger runaround in cup competitions.
Swiper Posted 2 August 2015 Posted 2 August 2015 Not the most consistent, but still has the ability to do something outlandish and grab a goal from nowhere. Wouldn't imagine he'll be first choice, but worth a place on the bench. Popular with the squad and loves playing here...Two qualities that shouldn't be taken lightly! I remember someone posting in a thread within the last 6 months that Nugent is not a great scorer of goals but a scorer of great goals. That was the best description of him I've seen. Terrible trait to have as your main frontman, but absolutely fantastic to have that trait as one out of your five strikers. Under a half-hour to go in a game where we're trailing by a goal and absolutely need a result, Nugent is perfect for that role. Then if an injury or two hits the strike squad, he's more than capable of stepping up. Not sure if there's a player on the squad that seems to love this club as much as Nuge. Should get some minutes here and there in the hole behind the strikers as well, especially if Ranieri plays Mahrez out wide some.
HoustonFox Posted 2 August 2015 Posted 2 August 2015 Love me some Nuge. Think he will be in and around the first team and his link up play is essential to the team, especially with Vardy.
Larry_LCFC Posted 2 August 2015 Posted 2 August 2015 I really like Nugent. Scored a nice goal or two in preseason and I imagine is a good influence in the dressing room. The pace and urgency of a game always feels quicker when he is on the field. Never stops running around.
Clever Fox Posted 2 August 2015 Posted 2 August 2015 A good all round striker but probably in his last premiership year with us. I still think he's the most natural striker we have unless the new lads start to show something special. Definitely worth having in the squad if only to teach and pass on his knowledge to the others.

Wouldn't imagine he'll be first choice, but worth a place on the bench. Popular with the squad and loves playing here...Two qualities that shouldn't be taken lightly! I'd say he is pretty consistent. He doesn't score many but you know you're always going to get some decent link up play, unselfish runs and defending from the front from him.
Big_Nige Posted 2 August 2015 Posted 2 August 2015 I like Nuge, always have. Never complain if I see him in the XI because he will give it his all. One of the main reasons we are where we are now, arguably not of the quality we are aiming for 'going forward' but he's more than earned my respect and I'll never slag him off. Do do do do David Nugent!
