Rileigh84 Posted 12 August 2015 Author Posted 12 August 2015 Were you the caller on 5Live last night with Darren Fletcher and Robbie Savage? Nope not me, they may have read this first though - its been doing the rounds on twitter. Agreed. Very impressed with it. Thanks!
Wymsey Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 Glad he's got a good reception in the past few weeks, I sure he'll be here longer than six weeks (unlike Megson ).
Rileigh84 Posted 12 August 2015 Author Posted 12 August 2015 Thanks for all having a read. And thanks for your comments.Yes, I seem to have got Cambiasso's height wrong - a design error copy and pasting the Kanté info I think. Also, all points very valid. The objective of the article was to install some confidence in the coming season and in our manager, and to dispel some of the myths pundits and media outlets were dishing out on Ranieri and how much a significant loss Cambiasso will be. Back it all up with research, facts and figures, and hopefully inform people to make their own informed decisions on whether he was a good appointment - hopefully installing some faith and optimism in the process. The media in my opinion have treated Ranieri unfairly. I'm not saying he's going to win us the league, but his record speaks for itself, he's obviously a good manager who should lead us to mid table security, theres very little reason beyond his performance at Greece to think otherwise.A good win on Saturday - I have to say I wasn't sure what to expect at kick off but I was very impressed - here's hoping that carries on throughout the season!
Captain... Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 Has Ranieri not failed to achieve the expectations of a similar number of clubs? You can't have an issue with people underestimating the difficult task Ranieri had at some of his clubs and then label McClaren a failure for turning a struggling mid-table Championship side (Derby) into a legitimate promotion contender. The point is the media are saying McLaren will be successful for Newcastle and Ranieri will fail for Leicester, despite both having failures on their record. McLaren failed in the second tier of English football twice he was awful at Forest and couldn't get derby over the line despite being one of the better teams in the Championship, Ranieri failed with Greece on the international stage and explained why and "failed" with Monaco, he got sacked for finishing in second place. So why are people focussing on Claudio's failures yet hailing the likes of McLaren and Billic as being a success this season. As for Ranieri's motivation, he had a miserable time in Greece and wanted to get back into club football, there weren't many top flight jobs around and we seemed like a good fit.
Bagworthblue Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 Many ‘Expert’ pundits are writing off Leicester City’s chances in the 2015-16 Premier League campaign, with the majority siting Ranieri’s appointment as a key factor in their reasoning for predicting the foxes to be serious relegation candidates. In fact after reviewing over 25 prediction articles by reputable British media outlets, over 80% of pundits believe Leicester are heading for the drop! Most of these pundits seem to be guilty of some very lazy journalism with a lack of research as these predictions don’t seem to be based on anything but a perception they have, rather than fact and analysis. So I have put together a blog article going into detail with hard facts and figures to back up why I feel Expert pundit opinions are being unfair on Ranieri and Leicester City in their predictions, and why their arguments are filled with contradiction and hypocrisy. You can see the full article here: http://lcfcstatto.tumblr.com/post/126005688933/why-ranieri-is-the-right-man-for-the-lcfc-job If you like the article go find me on twitter: @lcfc_statto and Facebook: LCFC Statto for more insights throughout the season. Here's a sneak preview of some of the graphics and analysis involved (Attached). Great stuff - most of it my exact thinking.I think you could go further and include a section on 'stability'. Everyone talks of upheaval but to date only 1 thing has changed in terms of the backroom staff - the manager - the fact nothing else has changed is a big + and the fact Ranieri has gone on record as saying he intends to change very little quickly rather than slowly over time can only be a further positive point. The success of LCFC under Nigel Pearson was............. 90% down to him? ......................50% down to him?.................. 10% down to him? or 90% down to the whole backroom team, 50% etc etc. We know that Walsh is the scouting magician, for all we know Shakey and Walsh could also have been very important in terms of tactical decisions, team motivation, development etc. Pearson was the leader but as a team how influential was he personally towards the success? we don't really know. The key point is - the team remains unchanged, only the leader (NB- I was and remain a big NP fan)
norwichfox Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 A super post Rileigh84 with some top quality graphics, thank you. It's dispelled a few of my fears regarding Ranieri’s appointment
Foxymcoxy Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 A lot of this is exactly what I've been telling people in real life who come up with the exact same crap as the pundits. So I agree with you on almost every point and it's nice to have it in a little more depth.
Stadt Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 Good article on the brilliant Outside of the boot, its a few weeks old though. http://outsideoftheboot.com/2015/07/21/in-defence-of-claudio-ranieri/ Cambiasso is 5'10 btw
Dickov22 Posted 13 August 2015 Posted 13 August 2015 The Cambiasso v Kante comparison box is ridiculous. Different leagues, different teams etc. Kante might be good but I doubt he's in Cambiasso's league. Not many are.
Ron Combo Posted 13 August 2015 Posted 13 August 2015 A super post Rileigh84 with some top quality graphics, thank you. It's dispelled a few of my fears regarding Ranieri’s appointment Yes, agree 100%, well written and heartening. Thank you. Having read it, it reminded me how much Richard Keys gets on my tits. Iirc, in the cracking match against Man U last season, he managed to review it without mentioning Leicester. His blog this week that reviews the weekend's action covers all the teams bar....? Yup, you guessed it.

Newspapers just looking for something rubbish to produce imo! McLaren may have flopped at the Sheep and Florist, but he also took Boro to the Euefa Cup Final as it was then, although they got spanked by Sevilla. He also won the Dutch League with Twente and had time with Wolfsburg, not that it gives any more scope than working in the championship. I am not a fan of the wolly with the brolly but just my point of view. Just some bits on Ranieir on his Wikipedia page; Cagliari Serie C1: 1988–89 Coppa Italia Serie C: 1988–89 Fiorentina Serie B: 1993–94 Coppa Italia: 1995–96 Supercoppa Italiana: 1996 Valencia Copa del Rey: 1998–99 UEFA Intertoto Cup: 1998 UEFA Super Cup: 2004 Monaco Ligue 2: 2012–13 I for one am looking forward to this season, time will tell but as everyone else is, im hopeful! LCFCTID!
Dan Posted 13 August 2015 Posted 13 August 2015 It's quite obvious that Kante isn't a replacement for Cambiasso. I'd say he's more of one for James and that Inler, should it go through, will be the Cambiasso replacement.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 I have to say I am really growing to like Claudio in the way he comes across. Still would prefer if Pearson were still here, but he has own me over already with his infectious positive outlook. Obviously results matter so I can't judge properly as of yet but he is saying and doing all the right things.

dedlock Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 A really interesting read. I know 'one swallow doesn't make a summer' but our start, albeit against a poor Sunderland, was promising. We have to beat or get points from that group of mid-table teams.Last Saturday was the bottom end, tomorrow is the higher end. Clearly CR is not the hopeless manager some lazy journalists think him to be.Let's hope he brings stability, improved results and consistency.

Guest ttfn Posted 15 August 2015 Posted 15 August 2015 Bloody Tinkerman with his same starting XI and subs.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 15 August 2015 Posted 15 August 2015 Within two games I can see he is right, stuck with the winning team , got the goals and changed things at the right time... Ranieri knows football
weller54 Posted 15 August 2015 Posted 15 August 2015 Within two games I can see he is right, stuck with the winning team , got the goals and changed things at the right time... Ranieri knows football Tactically astute!... Experience counts for everything!

The spaffing over Cambiasso remains even now I see.....I can't see where Ranieri has put a single foot wrong yet. In what he's said and done, he's been, thus far, exemplary.

In what he's said and done, he's been, thus far, exemplary. Abso****inglutely His tactical changes today were the work of a very astute manager. It was changes like these that we often lacked last year (no intended disrespect to Pearson). He has so far come to the club, kept a winning team and kept the work rate/pressing/harassing when all the media bods said he's bring boring, slow Italian football and today he has shown tactical nouse that was beyond us last year. His interviews have been great, he's already on the Kasabian bandwagon, he shows emotion on the touch line and he clearly communicates with the players very well, always barking orders. Was also ice to see him and Shakey laughing and chatting away together on the touchline today. I think given all the doom and gloom after Nigels sacking, we have pretty much come up trumps.
