Guest Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 No. There are no pluses for me. Get ripped off.. get into fights.. listen to shit music.. queue for ages to get into places/get drinks. If I wanted any of that there are better alternatives. Not surprised they are dying off.
filbertway Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 yeah some of you clearly aren't going to the right ones/don't have any good ones to go to. obviously if you go to envy/republik/whatever the rest are called on a saturday night it will be shit. loads of boss ones in liverpool that i frequent weekly. great places. free to get in on the whole too. Agreed. Love Rock City on a Saturday night.
Wymsey Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 Not sure how much of it is actually true, but just came across this. http://www.sundaypost.com/news-views/scotland/fun-loving-90-year-old-celebrates-his-birthday-by-going-clubbing-with-his-pals-until-3am-1.862924 Nightclubs are for any age...
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 I go in other cities, yeah - if I'm ever back up in Leeds or something. Down here - no, not any more. We've got plenty of great bars that stay open late enough.
ousefox Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 I go once or twice a week and still enjoy it, more so in Sheffield than York. What age did most of you stop going?
whoareyaaa Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 Not been out to a club in Leicester for years doesn't really interest me anymore and all the clubs in Leicester are terrible anyway. If im digging away with work then we do sometimes end up in clubs, last club I went to was in Chester called Rosies 3 floors full of fit birds, was a good night actually.
Staffs Fox Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 No I can't stand them. I used to when they were the only places open after 11/12 but now why would anyone go to a Nightclub nowadays? Last time I went it was £10 to go in £4.50 for a Bottle of Stella and it played the exact same music and stayed open until the exact same time as most other bars. Being a bit of a Rock Fan I might go to a club night for a bit of something different but that's once in a blue moon
Samilktray Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 Unless I was out in London/Bristol I'd see no reason to go in any nightclub.
Tincy Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 it does not cost £10 to get into a nightclub in leicester
Rincewind Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 A lot of pubs open until midnight now some longer so no point. I'm too old now anyway.
Tincy Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 A lot of pubs open until midnight now some longer so no point. I'm too old now anyway. your never to old
GaelicFox Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 Starlight 2000 off my head on yokes (disco biscuits) but gave that all up when I turned 40 Used to be open till 5 or 6 am and sold red stripe cans .... What a mess we used to be coming out of there
Grandad. Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 Not into the Leicester 'clubs' if you can even call them clubs, just a fan of bars now. Really like XY at the minute, when I go out. Republic is for our annual last Friday before Xmas piss up, pop/cheesy room is a must.
AKCJ Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 If anyone is a fan of alternative music then you've got to go to Corporation in Sheffield. That place is absurd.
SemperEadem Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 If anyone is a fan of alternative music then you've got to go to Corporation in Sheffield. That place is absurd. Coloured pints and the sticky walls = filth. Regularly gets done for knocking out dodgy vodka. The place is one of a kind.
filbertway Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 If anyone is a fan of alternative music then you've got to go to Corporation in Sheffield. That place is absurd. Fallen down those metal steps and covered myself in blue pint many a time. Great place.
Stevosevic Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 Clubs are shit, few bars till late are where it's at.
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 I'm 26 and I've given up on them, which is quite sad. Shame as I like having a fair few bevvies and a dance but can't be bothered with the expense and nobheads looking for a fight because they can't get laid.
sphericalfox Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 Leicester's never been a decent clubbing city. The last time I went clubbing in Leicester was a very long time ago at Junction 21, and the last time I went clubbing was a good while back and I didn't enjoy it as I'm old was tired, and not into the music being played. Sheffield has a good spread of genre clubs, and less agro than most cities... But in answer to the question - not any more, I'm too old, have kids, and recovery is a bitch these days.
sphericalfox Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 What's too old? Probably 30+ imo. You don't make the rules Wymes, I know plenty of non-married, no kids individuals who still go clubbing on occasion. In fact when I went clubbing regularly, seeing an older person still giving it some, put a smile on my face, and as long as they weren't letching on every single female in sight, the more the merrier.

SystonFox Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 Too many weekend millionaires out their for me now. Pretentious pricks
Wymsey Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 Venom nightclub (Belgrave Gate) is apparently crap, if anyone's been there.
