Dr The Singh Posted 15 August 2015 Posted 15 August 2015 Drinkwater is better than Cambiasso of last season. Yeah, I said it. You been sniffing Bertha's undies again
fazzyfox Posted 16 August 2015 Posted 16 August 2015 No comparison, Drinky can play well on a hot day whereas Scholes would disappear and put it down to his pale skin and general gingerness (I covered more ground during that World Cup defeat to Brazil than he did - and I wasn't even sitting that far from the bar)
Littletoe Posted 16 August 2015 Posted 16 August 2015 They have similar play styles, it's so blatant. He's isn't and never will be as good as Paul Scholes, but Drinkwater is the closest thing we will ever get to that quality. Was my favourite player two seasons ago and if this form and crisp passing continues, he will be worth a shout for player of the year again, my words. Must also mention Andy King worked well in the midfield.
benpicko Posted 16 August 2015 Posted 16 August 2015 Drinkwater is better than Cambiasso of last season. Yeah, I said it. Keep this up and I'd agree. Without the leadership qualities though.
shailen Posted 16 August 2015 Posted 16 August 2015 I can see why the comparison is made, but Scholes is possibly the best ever CM England have produced and was not appreciated by the national side. They have similar playing styles but he is nowhere near the levels Scholes was at.
Wymsey Posted 16 August 2015 Posted 16 August 2015 Drinky doesn't do the 30 or so-yarder passes that Scholes was famous for.
benpicko Posted 16 August 2015 Posted 16 August 2015 Drinky doesn't do the 30 or so-yarder passes that Scholes was famous for. He did today and against Sunderland
Master Fox Posted 16 August 2015 Posted 16 August 2015 You been sniffing Bertha's undies again Every day without fail
4everfox Posted 16 August 2015 Posted 16 August 2015 Good luck to N'Golo Kante and Gokhan Inler breaking into the team ahead of King and Drinkwater, they have both been fabulous so far.
ScouseFox Posted 16 August 2015 Posted 16 August 2015 King has had about 20 better games for us. Edit: sorry I just realised that might sound confrontational, it wasn't. Thought he was good today but King has had some super-human performances and a few other dead good ones too Andy kingy IS OUR BEST PLAYEr ever
Master Fox Posted 16 August 2015 Posted 16 August 2015 Kingy is an absolute diamond. He really is a different class. He's been nothing but outstanding for us through the leagues. He'll lift a trophy for us soon enough.
shailen Posted 16 August 2015 Posted 16 August 2015 Tbh Cleverly or Wilshere are more like Scholes than Drinky.
Fox92 Posted 16 August 2015 Posted 16 August 2015 Scholes would have scored the chance Drinkwater blasted over.
ZeljkoKalac1 Posted 16 August 2015 Posted 16 August 2015 Can't believe people are actually having a debate about Danny Drinkwater compared to Paul Scholes, one of the best midfielders ever. What next? Mahrez the new Messi? Kasper the new Buffon? Get real people!
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 16 August 2015 Posted 16 August 2015 Against Sunderland at home he looked very good and it sounds as if he had another good game today as well. Great for the confidence and hopefully his good form continues.

dbtcity Posted 16 August 2015 Posted 16 August 2015 Like has been mentioned before he probably learnt alot off cambiasso but in a playing sense he hindered him as they both play the same sort of role, I just hope he carrys on this form and players like inler don't come in and have the same effect on his game as cambiasso did
foxes_rule1978 Posted 16 August 2015 Posted 16 August 2015 Drinkwater > Scholes Mahrez > Messi King > Lampard Huth > Moore
dbtcity Posted 16 August 2015 Posted 16 August 2015 Drinkwater > Scholes Mahrez > Messi King > Lampard Huth > Moore Schmeichel > Schmeichel
Fox92 Posted 16 August 2015 Posted 16 August 2015 Drinkwater > Scholes Mahrez > Messi King > Lampard Huth > Moore Harsh on Liam.
AKCJ Posted 16 August 2015 Posted 16 August 2015 DD is bigger than scholes. At least in one department... http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_pulBXmpBd8s/R_TsiSHYOUI/AAAAAAAAAMI/SiHaq9g19fE/s320/knob.gif Edit. pazzerfox Posted 16 August 2015 Posted 16 August 2015 Scholes was a master at controlling the tempo and his range of passing was off the chart. Drinky made one 30 yard pass that was Scholes esp and can control the tempo but he is a long was off Paul Scholes at the moment.
Viva Posted 16 August 2015 Posted 16 August 2015 Maybe have this debate in a couple of years, rather than a couple of games? He couldn't get in our team last season!
Lestoh Posted 16 August 2015 Posted 16 August 2015 Before the start of this season the majority of this forum were saying DD isn't good enough, and now after 2 games he's 'the next Scholes'. Over-excited football fans are the best.
