Did very well and a performance like this can help make your career tbh. If he is now given more chances in 'harder' games and performes competently then he could come into the first team in the future. Great to have if we have any injuries, would be happy to play him

He could well have played himself in to the first team selections which as we might have needed another winger who can change games if needed then that's perfect for us. If we can't get someone in such as Gray then this could be a huge chance for the lad. We've said we don't necessarily need someone who will come in and replace Albrighton or Mahrez, just someone who can come in and help if needed. Brilliant.

Challenging for a place on the bench, could cover winger and forward. Doubt he will be a starter for a while though!

For those saying "it's only Bury",if you think you could do what Dodoo can do, do it, I do doubt you could do what Dodoo can do so do one, he do well for a debutant.

Leicester City’s academy player Joe Dodoo admitted he was stunned after scoring a hat-trick on his debut in the 4-1 win against the League One side Bury in the League Cup on Tuesday.

The 20-year-old midfielder was the standout player as Leicester ran riot over their hosts in the second-round encounter at Gigg Lane.

“It’s amazing. I could never have thought this was going to happen. It’s an amazing day,” Dodoo said after the match.

“I have to thank the manager and the players for helping me through the game. The manager gave me an opportunity and a lot of them just talked me through the game … but it’s an amazing feeling. Really amazing.”

Dodoo’s first goal, which came in the 25th minute, was arguably the pick of the bunch. After controlling a pass from the forward Leonardo Ulloa, he lifted the ball over the Bury defender Peter Clarke and smashed an unstoppable volley over the head of the goalkeeper Christian Walton which then went in off the bar.

The striker Andrej Kramaric added a second and although Bury struck back after the break through Danny Mayor, Dodoo killed the game off with two low finishes in the last four minutes.

The first had a touch of fortune about it, with the player seemingly in an offside position, but the flag stayed down allowing him to slot home through a despairing Walton’s legs.

There was no controversy about the third, however, after the substitute Jeff Schlupp charged down Walton’s attempted clearance and squared the ball for Dodoo to complete his hat-trick with an assured low finish.

The Leicester City manager, Claudio Ranieri, hailed Dodoo’s performance. “I am very happy with him. He deserved to show his quality and tonight made a very good job of it,” said Ranieri, whose side currently sit second in the Premier League table.

“I watched him once with the young players and he scored three goals. I wanted to play with wingers. I put him on the right and it was a good choice. It was a fantastic performance,” the manager added.

It might "only be Bury" but that first goal was one of the best pieces of skill and finishing you will see, the 2nd goal I've seen more experienced professionals miss similar chances and the 3rd goal wasn't exactly a tap in.

Rather than bringing somebody in on a transfer I see no reason why this lad can't be moved up to the 1st team squad as a fringe/substitute role and slowly get exposed to the Premier League. He was very impressive last night.

Fantastic from Dodoo last night. Looked like he really wanted it. A really well taken hatrick. The first goal was absolutely sensational and cool finishes for goals number 2 and 3. He also used the ball really well, getting to the byline a lot and putting in decent deliveries. Deserved the match ball and I dare say he's earned himself another cup appearance against West Ham at the minimum. A real prospect for the future from last night's display.

Chilwell played really well in friendlies too, so the future looks bright...

Reckon he'd make a decent wide forward in a 4-3-3. He's a good finisher but didn't think a lot to his dribbling. Very early days though and that's as good a debut as he could've asked for. Good on him.

I think you're right pal. In a settled squad I can see him really being made to feel part of it and allowing him to excel. A bit like how Southampton seem to be able to throw several youngsters in every season and they don't look out of place. Sometimes in the right setup, youngsters who aren't necessarily completely ready for first team football at such a level can make great progression because of the players and system surrounding them. That 2nd goal would 9/10 have been missed by Nugent and Vardy misses his fair share on 1 on 1's as well. It was clinical and composed. If we can't get Gray in before the transfer window then let's make every efort to developing this lad this season. He's not going to feature every week but he seems like he could play a part. Buzzing for him.

Would do him the world of good.

I think Halle Berry sat on the end of his johnson would do him more good. Bury are the pits of a club. Get him on loan somewhere half decent if at all.

Agree entirely with that. If you don't throw him in now then when will you?

I'm far from convinced that he's good enough to start for us but he will only get better for the experience of being in and around our first team.
