Where Will Nigel Pearson Go Next?

Recommended Posts

I had a quick look at a QPR forum last night and it's quite evenly split between people who want Nigel Pearson and people who don't.

A few people said that he's a good team builder whilst others didn't want him based on his antics last season. Though quite a lot of them on there want Kenny Jackett or Nigel clough.

Also read on there that they hired Lee Hoos in the summer. Wasn't he the bloke who was behind NP sacking the first time round under MM?

You couldn't make it up. How can anyone want either of those over Pearson? lol

So.... who's up for following the new team he takes charge of then and sacking off this Leicester City nonsense?

Some tool will suggest a bus load of us pop round there to support him on his first game or something shit like that !

I hear that a condition of him taking the job was the signing of his son on a Professional contract.

Steve Clarke now 1/10 for Fulham

Staying at Reading according to SSN.

I think it's to do with how much control Pearson would have in terms of team selection, tactics that side of things - as well as selecting his own transfer targets etc.

That's why Pearson wouldn't have moved to Forest or Leeds - both owned by owners who seem to be known for controlling the above.

Surprisingly 'talks' break down between fulham and pearson.....he would have made a good cottager.

I wonder why he's finding it so hard to walk into the jobs so many think he'd be top contender for.

I don't know any more than the next man but keep wondering about the reason he was dismissed at Leicester and the unusual step the owners took of asking the fans to "trust us" about the reason/s.

Cos the first thing any potential employer will be asking him is what actually happened at Leicester just in case there's any recoil. And whether of course, Pearson is still planning legal action which, so far, seems a long time coming if he is?

Unusual step? In what way is that unusual.

As for the reasons, I'd imagine it's quite clear what the reasons are. People think he's a nut job and would rather go off headlines in the sun than his managerial ability. Also the fact his staff are all still employed elsewhere.

Think Dan is probably spot on as to why talks keep breaking down.

NP has probably told them he wants to bring his own staff in and clubs are refusing as they know it will cost them a considerable amount to prise them away from us.

'So Nigel, can you tell us what your plans would be to turn this club into a real contender for promotion?'

'I can look after myself'

'Ok Nigel, thanks for that. Regarding the team though, what plans would you put into place?'

'Are you an Ostrich? Can you bury your head in the sand?'

'Nigel I think we're getting off on the wrong foot. I really just want to hear about what your plans are for the team'

'You ****ing twat'

'Right thanks Nigel for your time, we'll be in touch'

... While showing them his CV which reads league survivals with Leicester, Carlisle and Southampton, two play off semi final defeats at Leicester before winning the league and getting rid of the deadwood at Hull too.

They wouldn't usually call for "trust" at all. they'd make the decision, possibly make a brief statement and be done with it. There'd be no "appeal" to the fans of any kind.

They called for trust and appealed to the fans because he was a very popular manager and they knew a lot of fans would be unhappy with the dismissal. You're reading into something that isn't there.

Sacking a popular manager is unusual so having to appeal to the fans afterwards is also unusual. Thracian is right, potential employers will need to know why he was sacked, and if the actual reason is ugly then that will be harming his chances.

Ok, so potential employers want to know why he was sacked but with all the legal gags surrounding both Nigel himself and the club will he be able to reveal them details?

I understand it'd be a 'private' conversation/interview but we all know about information being leaked and there is potential for the information to become public.

"Potential" yes but not likely.

a) The source would be readily traceable.

b) Any comment would be made in an entirely private conversation of the kind owners have all the time and seem to manage to keep that way for the most part.

c) Any information passed could still be nebulous and unspecific.

Finally d) Even a journalist would be wary of quoting a private conversation he could never get verified honestly, and his editor would never accept it without qualification.

As I was once told when headline writing for the finance pages of a morning paper:: "Always be careful, because the featured subjects have the clout to sue".
