Nalis Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 If he joined Forest and was successful would we play them for the Nigel Pearson Cup?
Fox92 Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 If he joined Forest and was successful would we play them for the Nigel Pearson Cup? No, don't be stupid. We'd have to be in the same league to do that
Nickfosse Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 If he joined Forest and was successful would we play them for the Nigel Pearson Cup?His odds of joining qpr are very short. I hope that's where he goes as I fear that forest will make it easier for our back room staff to relocate if he comes calling. Personally, I think it's hugely important that we keep everyone who has been responsible for our form together.
Isle of Wight Fox 86 Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 Sorry if this has already been posted somewhere else, but I have just heard from a QPR fan that Nigel Pearson is set to become their next manager.... Will be interesting to see if he tries to take Steve Walsh snr, and Shakky. Just thought I would post it anyway.

thursday_next Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 'planting the seeds for a disproportionately negative response when we do inevitably go on a bad run.' As opposed to what? It's a forum. People have every right to go round tearing their hair out if we lose one game. They did under Pearson. Expecting football fans to have a reasonable sense of proportion is a triumph of hope over experience. Actually, most of them do, on the quiet, They're simply drowned out by the weepers and wailers, all of whom are convinced that if things were done as they would wish it then everything would be fine. If we finish 10th this season, then don't expect Ranieri to not come under any criticism. A significantly large section of people would happen to think that we have blown our chances of a European place, ridiculous though that would sound to anyone who had any common sense. They'll be convinced that had Ranieri got their tactical knowledge and ability to pick teams we'd have done much better. They did under Pearson. They also would have done the same under Bloomfield and O'Neill, had we had the internet in those days. Don't go all precious about Ranieri, it won't do you any good. People who actually supported Pearson from day one have had loads of 'arrogant, stubborn, white trainers, Co-Co the clown, tactically naive' posts to wade through for about five years. Now he's gone, and the same people are trying to rewrite history to the extent of Pearson not having anything to do with the team's rise. It's all been down to the owners, Steve Walsh, Craig Shakespeare, our 'scouting team', the physiotherapists and the tea-boy. It's enough to make you sick. I happen to enjoy Claudio Ranieri's press conferences more than Pearson's. He doesn't say much, but he does so in an appealing Italian accent. However, when the losses come, as they will, people will criticise, because they can. People will say that he picks Okazaki instead of Ulloa, or vice versa. There'll be people who moan about de Laet not being picked ahead of Simpson. There will be supporters of Kramaric, because he's great and only needs a run in our side. Football is about opinions. Unfortunately, the majority of those opinions happen to be complete rubbish, but they're opinions. Get over it. I've replied to Moose Breath here, while I was writing this the topic has been closed. Che sera sera.
Oxfordfox83 Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 From the other thread: Moose Breath: To me there's a pretty clear ulterior motive at play, and that's to continue pushing Pearson forward as the main reason for our current success, in doing so undermining Ranieri's effect and planting the seeds for a disproportionately negative response when we do inevitably go on a bad run. This negativity will destroy the carnival atmosphere we've been enjoying on and off the pitch and potentially contribute towards a further downturn in form right at the time when the team needs positive support the most. In other words, I think the "pearsonsites" are being subtly malicious in order to bring about a negative spiral that will end Ranieri's success and thus justify their continued negative opinion of the club in respect of their managerial decisions. See also: the FEAR of shakey and Walsh leaving ("the success is all down to them and not ranieri, if they leave ranieri will fail"), and the comparisons of supposed Pearson signings (Kante etc) against Ranieri signings (Inler, Benny) and how this proves the future is not bright under ranieri Call me paranoid, but that's how I see it. You're paranoid. It was possible to love NP and hate Sven, possible (but weird) to love Sven and hate NP, and it's perfectly possible to love NP and love Claudio. That's what all sane fans of this football club do. MON is still mentioned all the time here without trying to give him credit/undermine the present/predict a downfall. NP, being that much more recent, is still a presence at this club and a natural point of comparison with our current outstanding progress-deal with it. Just because people are saying something you disagree with doesn't make them the enemy, they're not trying to undermine anything. Just chill out and ignore the threads about him if you don't want to read positive opinions, because that's what you will mostly hear, except from the weirdo trolls who hate one of our best ever managers.
MooseBreath Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 I think that by ignoring the fact that Pearson, unlike MON, was sacked in controversial circumstances you're leaving a few elephants in a few rooms. Lots of people were very angry at the time and although performances under Claudio have placated some, once our form turns I suspect that we're going to see the backlash. The more people bang on about Pearson with increasingly ambitious reverence the more disproportionate, and damaging, that backlash is going to be.
MPH Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 I think i might have to end our relationship if he goes to Forest
Guest MattP Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 1/5 for the QPR job, looks like it's him. Perfect job really, a rebuild, finance available and a lot of talent there to work with.
Guest Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 Warnock listed him amongst others as a good candidate. Surprised he'd want to go there though. Delusional owner. Bit of a sham behind the scenes. London too..

AKCJ Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 Best of luck to him. Hope he does very well as long as it's not to our expense.

ousefox Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 QPR isn't a project too dissimilar to ours when he came. Loads of overpaid shite but huge potential with the new stadium and the rich owner. If he does go, I hope they give him time and they'll get their rewards for doing so.

If he does go, I hope they give him time and they'll get their rewards for doing so. There's that word 'project' again. However did we manage in football in the old days without a 'project' .....to manage

The more people bang on about Pearson with increasingly ambitious reverence the more disproportionate, and damaging, that backlash is going to be. Yeah, you're right, and that's the burden of every manager following a success. Same with Moyes after Fergie, same with Koeman after Pochettino, same with Taylor after O'Neill. Some swim, and many sink, but our start, spirit and style of play is cause for real optimism. Still, I'm old enough to remember thinking Taylor was progressing after MON... We have a template for justifying caution, but we are ALL loving the start we've made. Frankly, we can have a massive slump and for me that wouldn't define Claudio. Whatever happens this year, CL or 17th, we'll really only see for sure how he's taking things forward in September/October next year. But people will still compare with NP from time to time, because football clubs' identities live in the minds and memories of fans, and we want to see a thread of continuity going through the club, for better or worse.
AjcW Posted 13 November 2015 Posted 13 November 2015 When exactly will he take over there though, i'm a little confused by the Warnock interim thing, they made it sound long term, and they brought in Kevin Blackwell as his assistant yesterday... are they planning on appointing someone any time soon?
john ridley Posted 18 November 2015 Posted 18 November 2015 Seems talks have broken down with Fulham, their now talking to Steve Clark.
