Saints away next!.. Early thoughts..

Could Schlupp be a doubt for this? Playing in Washington DC tomorrow.

If that's how CR approaches this, Albrighton on the left and Dyer (assuming healthy) on the right?

Kicks off midnight UK time - not likely to be flying back to the UK until late Wednesday so arriving back in Leicester mid to late Thursday ish. I would expect Claudio to rest him which might explain in part why he put Fuchs in at left back for Norwich to give him some PL game time before this bigger match. Mahrez will take his place in attack too I would imagine

Ah, lovely squad depth. Also, could see Mahrez return though I think he might stick on the bench if he doesnt play centrally. Feels weird leaving Mahrez ou but think Southampton will have an easier time if we don't do what we did vs Norwich.

Good point. I'd like to see him start. I would love to see a formation that allows him to play more CAM behind the strikers but I don't anticipate that. Mahrez on the right, Albrighton on the left, then Dyer on for the last 20-30 might be the way to go.

I wonder what the chances of an Ulloa start are. Made himself dangerous within seconds at Norwich, even if the goal was called back.

he got back late last time and started the next game so did Shinji so don't assume anything

Ive seen Okazaki play in midfield for Mainz.

He has a massive engine, could we play him for Inler.

Then his strikers place is free for Ulloa/Kramaric.

What are other fans thoughts on this idea.

Lets face it, if all fit.....Mahrez, Dyer, Schlupp, Albrighton, Dodoo, are competing for a couple of slots, so squad use is not going to be obvious. So for these positions we have cover.

Kante, King, Drinkwater, Inler, later James, can be moved around to cover midfield.

Vardy gives us that special style, do we have an equal replacement.

Can Claudio change the set up, if Vardy is injured and still pick up points consistently.

Not forgetting Vardy has played his 1st International games, which will take it out of him somewhat.

Should we expect he can return and turn it on at his high level , this weekend.

Should he be benched for this weekend.???

it's not like he's had a particularly strenuous game, just been jogging around waiting for someone to accidentally pass to him

Vardy can now play stress free, with his best mates, in his natural style...

Hattrick for the taking.

Well his international games have certainly boosted his confidence which can only be a great thing for us so possibly could see him getting at least 1 hoping we can carry on with a win against the saints keeping us in the top 4!

I used to travel on the old Midland Red buses from Humberstone gate or by the 'Football Special' trains back when I was a teenager, but since then I've been going to away games by car.

Not sure why, but I've decided to go with my two sons on Fox Travel for the Southampton game.

Question for those who use Foxtravel regularly and know Southamptons ground (it's a new one for me).

What time will we get there (approx) and is there a pub away fans can use nearby.

You'll be let off the buses about an hour before kick off if you're lucky mate. Any pub is pretty much ok, its very different to pompey down there.

I had a weird dream about this game. We won 0-7 and I was so excited I went down the pub and got drunk. However I forgot to record Match of the Day or the game on Sky so I was running around try to watch the game at various venues; houses, pubs etc but i was so drunk everyone refused me. I ran out of one room and landed on a window ledge with a big drop below and was not sure I could climb back in when my dream stopped.   :sweating:

This fixture is a bit of enigma for me.

Id take a point but can see is losing sadly due to Southampton form.

Though if I'm going on form, why should we lose.... And three points would be incredible table wise cementing top four!

It's all a bit much for my head to fathom.

rumours on twitter that Pelle and Long are doubts for this. Randomly as well Senegal play Sunday so will Mane be with them?!

That would be a bonus.

They're got a strong squad but Pelle and Mane are on form

Dont know what competition it is for Sunday but saw someone tweet the Mane is not up for selection in that competition... so assume he will be playing Saturday against us.

African Nations Championship, Senegal v Guinea I think, be a bit of a bummer if he ends up playing for Saints this weekend

Incredibly tough game, will be very surprised if we get anything from it.

Mane if he plays will more than likely run rings round us, plus he will probably dive all over the place as usual and get one of our players sent off.

Agree with this.

Mane would fall over his own bootlaces.
