There is no way Liverpool would take a £12m hit on a player in six months, Jan is the period where cubs get ripped off not good deals. He's also supposed to be on 140k a week so would need a sweetener to come to a club of our level.

Why don't we spend it, we have it and we've nothing to lose. A lot of well respected people think Dwight Gayle has the potential to be a 20+ goals a season man in the right system. He's rapid and busy. Would suit us. Darragh MacAnthony rates him. That's about it.

steflcfc Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 Regarding Benteke, I feel the way Liverpool are trying to play, press high all over the pitch and break with pace, Benteke doesn't fit into that system. Likewise if he came here he wouldn't fit into our system/style. At Villa they played to his strengths long ball into the box/crosses. We would have to adapt our style of play to get the best out of him which we don't want to do.

But highley sort after Aboubakar. Beast strong fairly quick consistent goal scorer. Would cost a lot. 15 million plus easy Luis Adriano scores goals at all levels can play 9 or 10 role. Cost 25 million plus.

These things matter. There's a spirit in our club which helps bring the best out of everyone...the kind of spirit you come across once in a lifetime. Dany Drinkwater summed it up when he said the team would "run their socks off no matter who the manager was." In other words it's the bottom line expected by and from everyone - 100% effort whatever and a helping hand for anyone who needs it. The last thing you want is that attitude diluted. .
