Kilworthfox Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 A 34 year old who scored 8 goals last year (Ulloa scored 13) and now struggles to get off the bench for Stoke is an improvement on Ulloa? The man's not at his best lately but come on. You can quote stats all you want. I'm only interested in getting a centre forward in who can win the ball in the air and retain possession. Also the he's on the bemch arguement is not a shout. What about Ulloa, he's on the bench. I'm not a huge crouch fan or anything, but he is effective. I haven't seen Milik play, I just think we are so deficient in that area. It needs to be sorted asap.

Honestly, yeah Crouch can win a ball in the air better than Ulloa, but that's about as good as it gets for him: When it comes to using the ball though, even Ulloa easily trumps Crouch. I won't quote the stats at you since you aren't interested in them but just know that if you want a striker who can win the ball in the air and retain possession then Crouch definitely isn't your man anymore and you aren't watching enough of him either.
Guest Col city fan Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 I've always been a fan of the much maligned Peter Crouch. I think he's not only a plank but a better player than he's been given credit for. But AGAIN.... Two or three seasons ago...not now. He's well past his best. People were suggesting DeJong would be a good signing. Far from playing in the top flight, it now looks like he's off to the MLS! We are better than this... and again I don't see the point in acquiring players who are not wanted by their parent club. If last night showed us anything it was that we are devoid of quality if we don't play our first team and to our best. I don't think big Crouch is any sort of answer personally. It smacks of desperation when we don't need to be desperate.
dbtcity Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 Mahrez then. Then Gray / Albrighton on each wing It just doesn't work for Mahrez in the number 10 role, we've tried it so many times but he just goes missing. We are desperate for a creative number 10 though some1 who can just have a free role like silva and just ghost about in the hole unlocking defences
Kilworthfox Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 ok, I'm bang up for another big lad upfront, but realistically who are we going to get in January, who will improve on Ulloa? We are talking a top 4 finish here. I'm happy with the Remy shout, but we have 2 similar players to him, but I'd be buzzin with him. Similar to him is Demba Ba, apparently available? Again though winning the ball in the air, at present we only have Vardy who can, and that's not really his main focus.

If we're ambitious & looking to sign someone for a bit of wonga why not Lacina Traorè from Monaco? He's 6 ft 8 great on the deck & wins a lot in the air due to his size. 10x better than Peter ****ing Crouch!! Then bring in Shane Long too. Solve all our problems.
dbtcity Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 I know it wouldn't happen as Chelsea and Liverpool are in for him but Alex Teixeira is exactly the type of player we need in behind Vardy
Steven Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 Get Shane long in now Hello Championship. Zero to no ambition.
EGBFitness Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 Said Remy weeks ago, even made a thread that got shut down might be a possibility now Pato looks like he is on his way to Chelsea. Apparently Liverpool are considering selling Benteke, would welcome him here. Not sure how possible this is, great player IMO, just don't think it has worked for him at Liverpool. Siggurdson (however spelt) from Swansea is another one I'd like to see down here, great distribution, movement and got a good shot on him - will be a great link between midfield and forwards. We need other players to be picking up goals and taking pressure of Vardy and Mahrez becoming our only hope, think he could chip in with easily 4/5 goals before end of season and set up a good few too
narboroughblue Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 Forward / number 10 with ability to hold the ball and bring others into the game looks more and more desperate. Playing so deep and hitting it at our current three isn't going to work with only Vardy out of them able to do anything with that style, albeit rarely I expect. We are also crying out for a right back who can play football and not just defend. Our current pair are either too gung ho or too scared to get involved. The amount of times our midfield look right for a pass and have zero options is getting beyond annoying. Two players and I believe we can get top 4, stay as we are and it's going to be a long, nervy, pretty turgid few months.

eddylcfc Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 If we are serious about making the champions league we need another 3 players with, Amartey being one. We need another striker as Ulloa is useless. Break the bank to sign Aboubakar or why not challenge Chelsea and Liverpool for Texiera. I mean yes its a long shot but with our position he must surely consider it. Id like to see another RW come in as Dyer is clearly not good enough. Again go all out for Carrillo. IF we manage to do all this then CL is a certainty, no?

Now is the time to bring in the right characters who will improve the squad in the weak points you have suggested. We won't have a better opportunity to bring in top quality players, and the owners did say about top 5 a few years ago. So now is the time!

Agreed I'd say with those 2 players top 4 would be guaranteed, have a good chance with Carrillo but as much as I'd want him no chance of getting texeira
dbtcity Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 If we don't go for this type of player I'd be a bit dissapointed like everyone else says we will probably never be in such a position to attract such quality of player
dbtcity Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 Wouldn't mind us sticking a bid in for nolito either can play both out wide and in the number 10 role, a lot of speculation about Arsenal and barca being interested and apparently available for €12m, bit older than the type of player we seem to be going for but getting a quality player for that amount is worth a shot, plus he's got the pace to slip into our set up
kingcarr21 Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 apparently Liverpool bidded 24m today... they have loads of number 10s! least we could offer him first team football Apparantely pulled his hamstring. Must be the Liverpool connection
