KFS Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 Another Vardy? Matt Taylor (25 years old) Currently plays for Bristol Rovers. has scored 31 goals in 66 apps. 13 this season. Worth a punt for probably under 2M? 80 goals in 92 league appearances for North Leigh. Okay, it's conference level, but that's insane! Why not have a punt!
AKCJ Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 80 goals in 92 league appearances for North Leigh. Okay, it's conference level, but that's insane! Why not have a punt! Because we're top of the Premier League? We're not scumming it in the Championship any more. We don't have the time or squad space to risk it on these players. The chances of finding another Jamie Vardy are not worth it. Lets get some proven talent in while we've got the chance.

maynefox Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 I think we need a winger (cover and push the starters) Andros Townsend (cost 5-7 m not in favour) D Gray ( sure 5 m release clause) Would love to sign Montero Swansea A centre back ( Wez and Huth good Waslleski and yohan worry me) so again cover Steve caulker ( 8-9 million) Curtis Davies ( 4-7 million) A right back got to go with either as Simpson playing well but need better. K Naughton (3-5 m) K Trippier (5-6m) And last number 10 role. No idea. Think we are so close to being. yeah there going to be in Europe but not quite there yet so think if any thing happens it will do so late on. I will be genuinely disgusted with our recruiters if we went for any of these Premiership flops.

Was there a forum glitch and this list was actually posted 12 months ago? :xmastongue:
les-tah Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 Went to Goodson park Saturday and I think we need another game changer either from the wing or second striker/number 10 role. Once you got more than a couple of game changers you can't double up on them like people do with Mahrez which then partially eliminates his threat.
dannythefox Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 Ashley Williams turned down Liverpool on several occasion as he loves Swansea what makes you think he will leave for us? Also isn't Dyer out of contract in the summer? With Shane Long I think he's definitely worth a shot at the right price always rated him & always said I would like him here. nothing stopping us from trying to tempt him also knowbody has ever bid for him so we don't really know.
Gerard Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 First thing try get dyer signed up. I'd try get Ashley Williams why there struggling. Shane long would be a good shout he's a good finishers and he's rapid. But it will probably be players from abroad which is always a gamble. Why sign Dyer up? He's no better than what we have and is a squad player. As good as Albrighton has been for us I would prefer us to sign a player who could oust him from the first XI, not someone who isn't as good as him.

The beauty of our front four if you like is that Vardy & Mahrez can't really be improved upon. Albrighton is good but not exceptional and only three players in the league have more assists than him which emphasises this. Ulloa/Okazaki are adequate but could really be improved upon. I'd love us to get the best player we could to play in the Ulloa/Okazaki position. Preferably one who was very quick and could play in Vardy's position if he got suspended or injured.

I don't think this club could both find a No. 10 who could also play in Vardy's position. That, in theory, is Okazaki (who has similar qualities to Vardy, aside from a horrendous first touch). A player in the Troy Deeney mould would be perfect -- Ighalo is essentially their Vardy, with Deeney doing well in support.
AjcW Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 I like Marc But i'd love to see us get another AML in.. someone like Cheryshev. Mad looking back and thinking Sevilla got Konoplyanka for free in the summer . Someone like either of those though. Michy Batshayi would be a good shout as Vardys foil. Having a good season too.
Legend fox Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 It is called an opinion guys and every one can have one. Plus I'm looking at players on the cheaper side either not getting a game or at smaller club. As we are in the position we are and playing so well u have to look at not upsetting a winning starting line up. So u look at players that can push and add depth. These are the players that come to mind. If I was being ambitious I would say. Winger Joel Campbell, Pione Sisto,Andre Carrillo Right back Seamus Coleman, Van Der Wiel Centre back Aymeric Laporte, Maxime Gonalons Number 10 Stephan el Shaarawy, Breel Embolo I did not want to put as I'm worried maybe to soon.
Nick Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 I'd love Coleman here - been saying this for years.
foxes21 Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 Coleman would cost 30M+ He is also extremely loyal to Everton, turned down Chelsea and Arsenal not so long ago.
Dan Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 But we bid for him in the summer? Our perspective is totally different to what it was in the summer.
Lcfc till 1 die Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 In my opinion if we did get Austin he would work great with mahrez and vardy in a number 10 role. Even as an all out number 9 pushing vardy out left. Would great signing if can get him for less than 10-15 million.

So you are saying we should avoid trying to find absolute gems like Vardy in lower league football because we are top of the league... correct me if i am wrong but Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Man Utd and Spurs would absolutely love Vardy would they not? So why not try for another one. The fee is minimal, send them out on loan to a higher division if you must, its certainly worth a punt because if history repeats itself and we find another gem it would be brilliant. Taylor: 31 goals in 66 apps in league 2 Vardy: 31 goals in 36 apps in conference

Breel Embolo can play in both positions apparently, he's quick, a great athlete and a "wonderkid". https://www.clubcall.com/leicester-city/leicester-scout-eyes-swiss-wonderkid-1784540.html It looks increasingly unlikely we'll get him as I've just read Liverpool are interested. Who knows though, he might just come to us as his path to the first team is easier and it looks like he would suit our style of play. If Inler could have a word and the possibility of winning a league title medal and CL football he might think Leicester is a better option at this stage in his career rather than a big club like Liverpool. Coming to us gives him more options to move on in 2/3 years than it does with Liverpool.
CharlieCharles Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 Taylor from Bristol Rovers (loan to championship club) Ziyech from FC Twente Austin from QPR Sorted.
Gerard Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 I wouldn't bother with any PL players. We're just not going to get the ones that would improve us, no PL clubs are selling their best players unless you pay through the nose for them. We might be able to get Collins from West Ham or Townsend from Spurs but we're just buying cast offs which won't improve us.

Taylor: 31 goals in 66 apps in league 2 Vardy: 31 goals in 36 apps in conference Vardy is the player he is because we allowed him the time and space to grow. This Taylor lad would not come here and start playing at Vardy's levels and we're not in a position where we can afford the time to try out another cheap striker in the hope he pays off. Obviously the top sides would love the 2015 Jamie Vardy, but we didn't sign the 2015 Jamie Vardy either. Our resources are far better spent elsewhere, the looking-through-lower-leagues-in-a-hope-to-find-someone-half-decent ship has sailed.
CharlieCharles Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 Lavezzi from PSG Out of favour, out of contract. Marchetti from Napoli is also out of contract.
