Fez of Mahrez Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 It got brought up a lot in the summer that we'd miss Cambiasso as a "leader". Not just the media - Ranieri said it himself a few times. With Inler not yet stepping up to be that replacement leader, how many players in our current first team do you see as leaders? Is it important to have leaders or is it a media or fan-driven buzzword that means nothing? If you're playing well do you just label the best players as leading by example? And do you think we'll need more vocal, more organisational or more experienced players stepping up when we have our tougher run of fixtures in December?
ScouseFox Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 kante is our leader he wears a leaders hat an when he sees the ball he says im havin that we all hate leeders we all hate leeders
cityfanlee23 Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 I think Kasper and Huth are very vocal at the back, I would not say we have really got that "Leader" that controls the game, although Drinkwater is definitely coming into that role, Seriously think DD is our future long term captain if he carries on progressing like this, His stats blow our midfield we have out of the water, Including Kante which is surprising.
Stevosevic Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 Kasper, Huth, Morgan and I'd even say Vardy Oh and Fuchs
filbertstreet Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 I want Jeff Schlupp to lead the squad, he's ahead of his time
Salieri Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 Vardy leads from the front, not so much in a vocal sense but more so by the manner in which he plays. His relentless energy and style of play undoubtedly inspires the rest of the side to give their all, he's our talisman without a doubt.
fuchsntf Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 At present : Fuchs. and DD, he had a go at the crowd some time back, translate that emotion to team talks, then a leader is born. Future: Inler, if he can earn his place. WE need a mid-field terrier with Skill, and attitude at present I dont see one. Maybe we just have Claudio, to get the crowd going, and wave his arms alot.Build up a reputation of not shaking hands, but inviting managers to the obligatory after game drinkies. Lets face it, at present there is no natural leader in the squad.
Great Boos Up Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 DD Learnt from Cambiasso; applying it this season and is respected for it. Especially when we're on the back foot.
johnny the fox Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 Gary Glitter was the leader of the gang..look what happened to him.
MC Prussian Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 The system's somewhat changed, our central midfield with Drinkwater and Kanté is working fine (for now) and I also believe that we've got a handful of (quiet) leaders which spreads influence accordingly. The spirit within the team makes one particular leader on the pitch obsolete to a large extent. If at all, credit must go to Ranieri and the coaching staff for orchestrating it all from the sidelines.
Finnegan Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 I can see Fuchs really stepping up. Strikes me as a bright footballing bloke and a calm head. Captain of his country to boot. Also, I'd do literally anything Wasyl told me to do.
Countryfox Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 I want Jeff Schlupp to lead the squad, he's ahead of his time Did he forget to put his watch back ?
Sampson Posted 29 October 2015 Posted 29 October 2015 Fuchs is the captain of a nation who just won 28 out of 30 points in Euro 2016 qualifying and are a lot of people's tip for the dark horse of Euro 2016. He also comes across as really grounded and composed. I think he's perfect leadership material.
Fox92 Posted 29 October 2015 Posted 29 October 2015 Drinkwater. He's very good at telling players and isn't afraid of telling them either. I saw him berate De Laet against Arsenal.

It's not quite that simple. Neither Drinkwater nor Kante - outstanding as they are in some ways - offer enough goalscoring threat nor do they win the ball much in the air either defensively or offensively. With us lacking height up front too, it means too much reliance on Vardy and Mahrez to get our goals, costs us potential threat at attacking set pieces and leaves us light defending opposition corners/free kicks. It's an area that needs improvement, perhaps with a good, mobile, attack-capable centre-back or someone in the mould of the colossus that was Vierra.
AyewJoking Posted 29 October 2015 Posted 29 October 2015 Drinkwater. He's very good at telling players and isn't afraid of telling them either. I saw him berate De Laet against Arsenal. no one ever berates De Laet

BrummieFOX Posted 29 October 2015 Posted 29 October 2015 DD Learnt from Cambiasso; applying it this season and is respected for it. Especially when we're on the back foot. He's definitely leading by example but you still don't see much from him vocally. Cambiasso was orchestrating a lot of what we did on the pitch last season.

HighPeakFox Posted 29 October 2015 Posted 29 October 2015 Maybe a potential leader will soon issue a 'COME AND GET ME PLEA' to us. There's media bullplop if ever there were
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 29 October 2015 Posted 29 October 2015 Huth and Morgan really should be, but don't seem to be very influential on the others. Kasper shouts a lot but not sure he's a leader. Don't agree with Vardy, don't think he's extroverted enough to be a leader of men. Maybe Wasyl is a good candidate if he begins to start games
