Babylon Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 I find it a bit strange that Drinky has been getting mentions for a possible England cap and Albrighton isn't. In what position? We don't play with wingers and in those wide striker positions England already have a large number of decent players. There were rumblings last year about a cap, I think he needs a few more goals for him to stand a chance of that though. Central midfield England are lacking a lot more at the moment.
ScouseFox Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 none of our players fit england. they're good enough but they don't fit the team/system. we are amazingly exciting, fast paced, like the RAF or whatever claudio described us as. england play with possession. slowly. boring if you like. albrighton wouldn't fit into the england team in any position, much like vardy doesn't (and probably never will), and possibly drinkwater wouldn't either. it's a shame but until england play the way we play then none of our players will excel, and likely none will be capped except vardy, playing poorly in his wrong position.
eye666 Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 Marc AlbrightonMore Premier League assists than any other Englishman this season. No. 39 on our last England ladder and rising. http://www.football365.com/news/premier-league-winners-and-losers-9
Izzy Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 I wonder how long until we start reading speculation of Albrighton being lined up to join one of the big teams. Seems to be fashionable to suggest City players are attracting big money moves at the moment.

That's very poor for a site which purportedly disseminates football info.
Monk Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 I wasn't there to see the rest of his deliveries but those two balls to Mahrez were sick!
Vlad the Fox Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 Only a matter of time before he gets the credit he deserves. The man is old school, he must be related to Beckham, I'm sure of it! Next suprise England call up, heard it here first. Don't be daft, he'll never get called up for England. England like wingers that run down blind alleys before knocking the ball back five yards for a midfielder to pass across the middle to another midfielder and so on generously allowing the opposition to get back into defensive positions, as to score without opposition players being in position just isn't cricket.
eye666 Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 Euro 2016 - Albrighton whipping balls on to Andy Carroll has got to be worth considering as a Plan B when Vardy gets subbed in the 85th minute after banging in a hat-trick...
Sampson Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 In the few matches before this was his not put back on the right wing quite a bit? Whenever he's on that side the balls in are obviously your more traditional type of cross, where he gets a bit further up the pitch and crosses sideways or backwards to Vardy and Okazaki, who are up against big lump centre backs who have had a bit more time to set themselves and they are moving away from their own goal to head it. When he's on the left he plays the ball in from deeper and they are in swingers, with defenders often on the back foot going towards their own goal, not having as much time to set themselves and with our players running in on it. We look far more dangerous with that type of cross. Definitely agree with this. He looks far more dangerous on the left when his crosses are "inswingers" rather than the "outswingers" on the right. If your a defender running backwards and you get an inswinger like the sublime one which set up our first goal it must be an absolute nightmare to defend against.
TJB-fox Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 Differs from game to game, definitely helped having Ulloa there on Saturday. In some games, He repeatedly does pointless stupid crosses which 1) our 5'10 strikers have no chance of winning against 6'3 defenders 2) are too close to the keeper. He can give the ball away an awful lot by doing this. But when it works, like Saturday, he can be so so so effective
Wymsey Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 He's one of those players who knows when it's the right time to do something, very decisive on the ball.

We look far more dangerous with that type of cross. Entirely valid points. Ulloa might something of the occasional outswinger - an important reason to utilise the guy - but otherwise they're likely to be a waste. But with Ulloa also able to threaten the inswinger we get the added bonus of opposing defenders having an extra problem to think about, especially with Mahrez showing himself capable of using the space behind Ulloa and finishing on the volley without the need for a controlling touch.
Thracian Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 Ha! I was wondering whether you'd show up in here. A salutary lesson, even for the old boys, against taking two games and basing your opinions on those... If you look back (or simply take my word) I think you'll find I've generally been supportive of Albrighton's being a first choice presence. He's clearly our best crosser of the ball but needs to tailor the deliveries to suit the situation or choose to do something entirely different if the cross isn't "on". He wasn't the only disappointment in the Hull game but he sure lifted his standard against The Baggies - in part because there was far more movement up front and a much greater determination by more than one player to make something happen when the crosses arrived.

Well, I don't want to pick a bigger fight, as this post is clearly fair. The post you wrote after Hull said the team in that game wasn't relevant as none of them were premier league players, and next to Albrighton just put "not good enough". I'm glad he's changed your mind, because I think he's been nearly as important as Mahrez so far, and is likely to be consistently influential...
NewEnglandFox Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 I just noticed that Albrighton sent the first cross in with his left foot and the second one in with his right. Woh. Let him have some real targets every week, Claudio.

The performance at Hull warranted little praise at all...and Albrighton was no less disappointing than most of the others. We had a wonderful opportunity that night to make further progress in a cup competition we could have won but turned out with a luke-warm attitude that did us no credit whatsoever. As for the future it will depend which Albrighton turns up but I know which I prefer - and another thing I prefer is for him to have the kind of team around him to do justice to his abilities and, hopefully, to focus his mind.

possiblygeorge Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 He's been playing out of his skin! Has to be within the top three players at the Club right now, in flying form!
STUHILL Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 He's been playing out of his skin! Has to be within the top three players at the Club right now, in flying form! Vardy, Mahrez, Drinkwater, then Albrighton
possiblygeorge Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 Vardy, Mahrez, Drinkwater, then Albrighton I'll give you that
Guest Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 Vardy, Mahrez, Drinkwater, then Albrighton Kante?
Charl91 Posted 3 November 2015 Author Posted 3 November 2015 To be honest, I'd go Vardy, Kante, Mahrez, Albrighton, Drinkwater. Though I can't decide between Kante and Mahrez.
possiblygeorge Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 I don't want to play this game anymore!Given in Vardy, albrighton, mahrez imo
