HitchinFox Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 Just a heads up – the LCFC team of groundsmen are up for the "IOG Football Grounds Team of the Year" award. It's organised by the Institute of Groundsmanship (IOG) and the winner is announced tonight at a huge gala dinner in Birmingham. The LCFC guys are up against Man Utd in the final and a reliable source tells me that they have more than a good change of winning! Just thought I'd highlight it as the turf at KP is rated among the best in the country and the guys who are responsible for it don't often get enough credit for their hard work – not that they'd ever ask for it, they're a humble lot! Among their achievements is the amazing job they did with hosting the rugby last month. So fingers crossed my source is right and we can grab the first bit of silverware of the season!
Jaspa Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 Newish team aswell isn't is? I remember us having a very aptly named groundsman for years that whent last season, cant remember it now though . The pitch is an absolute peach though, it shows in the footy thats played there. The owners also deserve some credit for installing the Deso and maintaining it, they appreciate the finer details it seems

johnny the fox Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 well deserved ...all part of a winning team.
TrentFox Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 Our surface is fantastic and, whether they win or not, they deserve every credit for what they produce for each fixture.
Biggus Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 Should be up for Rugby pitch of the year aswell!
Wymsey Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 The groundmen's performance has been cut above the rest in the league. Excellent strokes of grass everywhere.
MPH Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 The groundmen's performance has been cut above the rest in the league. Excellent strokes of grass everywhere. We just need to nip this in the bud before it runs away from us...
filbertstreet Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 Pearson's influence still going strong don't think that's what gardening leave meant mate

Guest CityFan 06 Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 The pitch at the King Power always looks fantastic, and absolute credit to the groundsmen for what they do every home game creating a smooth surface for the team to play on. I reckon our pitch is certainly up there with some of the best in England.
sdb Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 Always impressed by it, can't remember the last time it didn't look great
Fox42 Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 The design for the QPR match alone should win the award.
demon_dog Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 Were Man U the top seeds for this award? If so we need to weed out the culprits. Who will grass on them?
Aus Fox Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 If we don't win this award I will be calling the Mown in on Monday to voice my displeasure. It could be a lawng night for all involved.
promised land Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 Always impressed by it, can't remember the last time it didn't look great Off top of my head, the fa cup game against man city in the Sven era, it did look quite bad then and he had it relaid straight after that game. Since then we've had the Desso stuff stitched in so it doesn't get relaid now, they burn it off in the summer and reseed it. Despite what some fans say, after the rugby games it is still the same grass, afaik it hasn't been relaid.
Steven Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 Pearson's influence still going strong Sven's influence.
Corky Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 We could well suffer the IOG Football Grounds Team of the Year curse on Saturday.
HitchinFox Posted 4 November 2015 Author Posted 4 November 2015 They've done it! Well done lads – congratulations!
