brisfox Posted 17 November 2015 Posted 17 November 2015 I'm going to the England v France game tonight at Wembley and I expect to see a huge Police and Army presence. I was wondering if City fans felt a similar response was needed at the KP, given we are now so high profile worldwide. I wouldn't be surprised if these idiots tried to attack a Premier League game. How would you feel about the army in SK1 ?

goose2010 Posted 17 November 2015 Posted 17 November 2015 Personally I don't think we are high profile enough, but I do think they will start searching everyone, which is fair enough.

Fox92 Posted 17 November 2015 Posted 17 November 2015 Can't see it. We're not high profile enough first of all. It's not as if we're Manchester United and have 70000+ people in the ground. Might change how they search fans though, everywhere.

Alexikokopops Posted 17 November 2015 Posted 17 November 2015 Premier League to issue new security guidance to clubs after Paris attacks
tom27111 Posted 17 November 2015 Posted 17 November 2015 Any televised game is high profile enough. I've often thought that Premier League games watched all over the world could be an easy target for extremists. Even at the King Power, there's over 30,000 people in a very small place. The death toll could easily exceed that of 9/11. I'm in a cheery mood this morning.
DB11 Posted 17 November 2015 Posted 17 November 2015 Do you think they've got enough armed police to send to the KP? lol lol lol

Good job there is no political reason to target an LCFC game then, no countries to invade as "repercussions" to get huge amounts of oil and opiates, or billions in insurance money then, isn't it.
Tommy G Posted 17 November 2015 Posted 17 November 2015 I have a friend who is in Leics Police and if anything like Paris happened in this country outside of London and Birmingham the force couldn't cope, not enough man power. There are hardly any trained armed police in leicester either, its a grouped midlands force with most based in the West mids. Worrying, especially given all the cuts ahead.

What about Greater Manchester?
Leicesterpool Posted 17 November 2015 Posted 17 November 2015 I don't think it'll be as extreme as that here, security will be stricter though I can imagine. I can imagine premier league matches which will take place at Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge, Anfield, Emirates Stadium, White Hart Lane and Etihad. Will perhaps maybe see Police officers with guns.
AKCJ Posted 17 November 2015 Posted 17 November 2015 No. National games are more at risk (as we saw on Friday). It's more of a statement. I have a friend who is in Leics Police and if anything like Paris happened in this country outside of London and Birmingham the force couldn't cope, not enough man power. There are hardly any trained armed police in leicester either, its a grouped midlands force with most based in the West mids. Worrying, especially given all the cuts ahead. You could also argue that places outside of London and Birmingham are far, far less likely to be attacked.

If someone wanted to kill as many people as possible while taking themselves too, hijacking a plane and flying into a full football stadium would be the most effective way to do it. Dreadful to think about I know, but it just seems like a really obvious future step for IS (or whoever follows them as the cvnts of the decade).
yorkie1999 Posted 17 November 2015 Posted 17 November 2015 The only way the kp would be at risk is if someone, or a group, stood outside the ground with a big flag with Fvck ISIS on it, not that that would ever happen.

Bayfox Posted 17 November 2015 Posted 17 November 2015 Time to leave this country if we are going to have soldiers and police with guns on the streets Really, I feel the opposite, I will add that when I took my 3 y/o to Disneyland Paris, explaining to her why as soon as we step of the eurostar there where armed police was a little difficult, I do feel it is time we had either more armed police or the servicemen that are based back in the uk, visable on the uk's streets, not in high numbers maybe, but would it do any harm to have a few 2 man teams on patrol in most towns and citys, I am sure most people would feel reassured. Although I get that the counter to this, is that paris does have and they seemed very slow to respond.

Bayfox Posted 17 November 2015 Posted 17 November 2015 Will be a sad day when we see the army patrolling towns in England. Sadder than the huge loss of life that could be inflicted? Not saying it's ideal, but we live in uncertain times. I'm glad I live far enough out in the sticks not to worry. I do remember my mum having to deal with several bomb threats when I was younger, suspect packages etc. These guys are walking bombs and don't give warnings.
danny. Posted 17 November 2015 Posted 17 November 2015 They have police with guns walking around in the USA and they murder several people a week - I guess you wouldn't feel so reassured if it was you being shot.

I completely understand that point of view, and I guess you have to way up the potential loss of one life against the loss of many. I would also like to hope we have a little more sense than the americans, seems they have a gun culture way beyond ours. I also plan to spend most my life if at all possible not having a police marksman stood aiming at me. Unless they start shooting at speeding drivers.
Dynamogoon Posted 17 November 2015 Posted 17 November 2015 Time to leave this country if we are going to have soldiers and police with guns on the streets We already have armed police on the street
