NewEnglandFox Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 We're woeful. 4 Direct off the corner and one in the ensuing chance. https://streamable.com/ly7m https://streamable.com/4rkp https://streamable.com/yckw https://streamable.com/4ahz https://streamable.com/9xsw Tactical errors? Personnel errors? How can we be better? (If I missed any tell me and I'll grab the replay.)
ousefox Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 Been shocking for the last few years. How we can't sort it out I do not know
StanSP Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 it's weird cos it's not even a recent problem. we've constantly been bad at defending them for as long as I can remember. it's like we just don't care
Unabomber Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 We either concede or go and score, pretty exciting.
Goddard Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 It's schmeichel's only weakness. Probably the reason he hasn't been snapped up.
StanSP Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 It's schmeichel's only weakness. Probably the reason he hasn't been snapped up. it's not just schmeichel. definite weakness of his not to come and claim crosses but defence and poor marking are also to blame.
Goddard Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 I'd agree, but it would obviously make their lives easier if they knew anything in the 6 yard box was schmeichel's.
Len Finsbury Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 We've hardly been deadly attacking them ourselves, which obviously goes hand in hand with defending them.
dbtcity Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 You look just how small our starting 11 is and it's no real suprise we can't defend/attack set pieces, other than fuchs huth and Morgan we literally had no1 else who you would genuinely fancy in an arial duel, for me it's another reason why ulloa has to start over okazaki
sdb Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 Keeper not commanding and relatively small starting XI most weeks. Definitely our weak spot.
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 It's schmeichel's only weakness. Probably the reason he hasn't been snapped up. This
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 it's not just schmeichel. definite weakness of his not to come and claim crosses but defence and poor marking are also to blame. Eh up Stan...we agree!
Benji Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 One of the obvious reasons is a lack of height. If Ulloa doesn't start then in most games we are outnumbered by tall players on corners and you'll end up with Simpson or Fuchs marking a 6ft plus player. That doesn't excuse goals where there is just no one there (there was a massive gap in front of Kasper for the United goal) but I've almost just accepted thisas a consequence of the kind of player we have and the way we play: smaller, pacey players.
Mike Oxlong Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 We don't properly defend the six yard box. Stacks of space in there for the Man U goal.
Tuna Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 Goalkeeper rooted to the goalline is the problem. Sell on and get Buffon in in the summer.
theessexfox Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 We seemed to have half of last season where we appeared to have tightened up in this department. Looks like the problem is back.
urban.spaceman Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 I'm sure we're working on it - since Fuchs and Simpson have started playing we've not conceded a goal from open play in the last 7 matches - pretty chuffed at that improvement to be honest. Give them time and we'll improve on set piece defending too, hopefully
Weller in Tights Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 It's schmeichel's only weakness. Probably the reason he hasn't been snapped up.Might be his only weakness but it is quite a major one.He is undoubtedly a great shot stopper. However, does he command the box, sorry but no. I'm not saying he's a bad keeper, but he is way down the list of players I would put on the team sheet first. Yes I know it's not just up to the keeper to defend corners/crosses. I just feel this is his Achilles Heal.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 Think back end of last season we looked better as someone said because we had Huth, Was, and Morgan in a three along with Ulloa. Just seemed to be better. Is actually embarrassing. Kasper at times should do better but so should most our defenders, no one attacks the ball at all
TeamRocket Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 Cant we play K D D D DM M M M M S S ????? So we still have our back 4 but more like a back 3 plus an extra and have mid 4/5 and the Strikers dont change? Like a 3-1-4-1-1 Or am i just playing to much fifa hahahaha
Mike Oxlong Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 We are not a particularly tall team. Simpson marking Smalling on one of their free kicks was a total mismatch
FLAN Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 Not sure why we don't go zonal to allow those with height a free run at the ball instead of marking one man I'd put money on huth or wes at least making it hard for anyone to score if you put one each front and rear of 6 yard box. I also wish we would put two munchkins on the halfway line to keep 3 defenders busy
GaelicFox Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 I suspect CR has a top class keeper planned and a top class centre half lined up he knows we will need to strengthen that up but I suspect that will be in summer ! If we loose Vardy we will need to find another proper striker and quickly , and one with pace Bony might be one to go for ? But a classy goalie and centre half is a must
