Jack1993 Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 One thing that I think many people have noticed since Claudio's appointment is the tactically great substitutions that he has made on many occasions, which I think have been worth a good number of points for us this season. Anyway, enough about how brilliant Claudio is, his current success in this area has got me thinking about how much in the past they have impacted games that we're involved in. Whether it be by us or another team, I fully believe that these kind of decisions split the best from the rest in terms of managerial success. So, from memory, what are the Best/Worst/Most amusing/Confusing substitutions (or even just managerial decisions) that you've ever seen live?
Corky Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 Schlupp running off to replace the West Ham player in the home match last season.
lgfualol Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 Tim sherwood's subs against us didnt work very well
Izzy Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 So, from memory, what are the Best/Worst/Most amusing/Confusing substitutions (or even just managerial decisions) that you've ever seen live? Not strictly Leicester related, but I'm still pissed off that Graham Taylor substituted Gary Lineker in Euro 92 and deprived him the opportunity to beat Bobby Charltons record. I remember feeling really angry about it at the time and it still grates on me 23 years on...

It'sblueupnorth Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 Paulo Sousa bringing on Michael lamey whilst losing 1-0 against Burnley away. We lost 3-0 in the end
HEGGSY Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 Schlupp running off to replace the West Ham player in the home match last season.Who was it against this season at home when we made a sub and Riyad got took off instead on Jeff and Jeff couldn't quite believe it? he was absolutely ****ed , when the number 26 popped up his reaction said it all
kingcarr21 Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 Kalac being subbed on in the play off final ready for penalties only for Claridge to shin the winner. Not so much an inspired sub but one that i will never forget
Fox92 Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 Beckford at Upton Park and then just stared at us all.
DB11 Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 Kevin Phillips when he was subbed on for his debut and allowed Nugent to score the winner against Leeds
possiblygeorge Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 Who was it against this season at home when we made a sub and Riyad got took off instead on Jeff and Jeff couldn't quite believe it? he was absolutely ****ed , when the number 26 popped up his reaction said it all Against Aston Villa i think or Crystal Palace. Might have been Crystal...
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 Pearson was a bad subberer As much as I loved Nige, what must-win game was it last season when we were already losing and he took off all our potential goalscorers and stuck on 3 non goalscorers and everyone was just absolutely baffled?

Soar Fox Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 hull at home? We were never losing against hull.
Guest Col city fan Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 Possibly one of the biggest differences between Ranieri and Pearson is this. We said it time and time again...Nigel made substitutions very often, just too late in a game. There were times when he got it right, but these seemed to be the exception not the rule. Ranieri on the other hand, seems to instinctively know who to bring on and when. He seems to get this right time and time again.
Sampson Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 Pearson was a very good sub maker in his first spell but it never quite followed in his second. Holloway was always the worst and most baffling sub maker. We used to joke we half expected him to bring Conrad Logan on and stick him on the wing.

fox766 Posted 1 December 2015 Posted 1 December 2015 Kalac being subbed on in the play off final ready for penalties only for Claridge to shin the winner. Not so much an inspired sub but one that i will never forget THIS. Never have I seen a team look at a opposing sub and thought what the fùck how are we supposed to score against that and whilst they stopped we scored. What a day can still remember all of them play off finals like is wasn't that long ago some of which are over 20 years ago now I feel old!!!
EverybodyDannsNow Posted 1 December 2015 Posted 1 December 2015 Beckford at Upton Park and then just stared at us all. I remember that. It was an incredibly awkward few seconds
urban.spaceman Posted 1 December 2015 Posted 1 December 2015 K A L A C. If only for what happened 20 seconds later. Unforgettable.
Górnik Leicester Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 THIS. Never have I seen a team look at a opposing sub and thought what the fùck how are we supposed to score against that and whilst they stopped we scored. What a day can still remember all of them play off finals like is wasn't that long ago some of which are over 20 years ago now I feel old!!! I'd say possibly the most inspired sub in my time supporting City. Palace players all later said that the sub affected their concentration.
Dan Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 We were never losing against hull. We weren't but we badly wanted a win there and the subs were pretty horrific. Ranieri seems to nail his.
dibbdroid Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 1978 away to Cov losing 1-0, Frank McLintock bought David Webb on as a striker. It was like a shire horse chasing a cheetah And some Cov hoolibums thought picking on my mum was a good plan
