Mark Lawrenson's Predictions

Recommended Posts

Whenever I think of Mark Lawrenson I think of this. Such uncanny impressions, especially the camp Lawrenson

as always whenever Leicester is impersonated on the TV out come the Brummy accents.

There is a story of a striker called Robin Friday having a dump in Lawro's kitbag after kicking him in the face and getting sent off in the late 70's....

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robin_Friday   Friday went on to appear on  the single cover for the Super Furry Animals ' The Man Don't Give A fvck'

Story may be a bit of an urban myth but funny all the same. Moral of the story is that Lawro knows fvck all...

Most neutral's and/or pundits are expecting the Leicester bubble to burst soon, he's probably just thinking law of averages would dictate we'd slip up in one match sooner or later. Still means he's a shit pundit though.

Lawro's most favourite scores are 1-1, 2-1, 1-2 and 2-0.

At a guess i'd say they're the most common results in the league

Lets face facts here, Lawro is a Merchant Banker.  Who gives a toss what he thinks.  Of course we are going to lose soon, so he is going to be correct at some stage.  I bet he tipped us to go down.

The strange thing is, he back us at the start of the season. He said we'd win 2-0 at Upton Park, get a result against Spurs and away at Bournemouth. What exactly changed after the Villa game to then make him think "actually you know what, Leicester aren't going to beat Watford at home"?

I think he keeps making the classic mistake of thinking our bubble will burst, or that teams are "due a loss".

We've all got a mate who says things like that, yeah Leicester are playing Newcastle and Newcastle are shite and Leicester are flying, but  Newcastle are due a win/Leicester are due a loss. As though not winning a few games means you deserve to win one or vice versa. Unless you are one of the big teams then you will win every game, "you can't bet against Chelsea" why not they are playing shite and just because they are Chelsea doesn't mean they have an automatic right to win a game.

Yes it is just an opinion, the problem is he is paid for his footballing "expertise" out of our license fee money, my mate isn't, they would be better off bringing in a statistical analysis of teams and players and seeing how the stats predict the outcome of a game.

Exactly, if you're going to base your predictions on the fact that we will lose more games this season rather than actual insight into the game, you may as well get a computer to do it and base the whole thing on averages.

I can statistically guarantee that he predicts that least 50% of the team's playing every Saturday won't win. Why do people have to take it so personally? It's a 2 minute slot on football focus, it's no big deal.

Sorry to piss on anybody's chips, but he's actually third equal in Bentley's Roof score predictions chart (having been included there by Sgt.Wilko, who runs the competition).

If he was any good at predicting City's results, he'd actually be comfortably top.

I don't know if this tells us more about Bentley's Roof or about Mark Lawrenson, but he's not that bad.

He has a system... and it works for him, he is just predicting Leicester must lose a game sometime, but been wrong the last 9 times, trying to play the averages and it isn't coming off when it comes to Leicester or West Ham..

Tbf he's got villa bang on.

I thought the same thing, but then I realised no one that has ever seen them play would have really given them 5 points! The most shocking thing about his table is having Newcastle 10!! Just...wft! lol

Another defeat this week, fortunately West Ham are also losing this weekend to keep us out of the bottom 3.

Meanwhile West Brom beat Spurs to take their record to just 2 defeats from 15 games, 17 points clear of the hapless Leicester.

"Most people will expect the Foxes to go to the Liberty Stadium and win. I am going for something different though."

Very predictable, Mr Lawrenson.

Swansea are another team on a bad run but, unlike Aston Villa, I think they are better than their results suggest.

The Welsh side did not offer much of a threat against Liverpool at Anfield last weekend and they are struggling for goals, but I still think they were a bit unfortunate to lose.

Garry Monk's side have only won one of their last 10 league games but I do not look at Swansea and think they will keep on falling and drop into the bottom three."

Lawro's prediction: 2-1

Yet another weekend where he predicts no team will score more than 2 goals lol He may be a dick but Merson's predictions are usually a lot less boring, predicts a lot of high scoring draws and a 4-0 away win for Liverpool this weekend which could well happen tbf
