Merson absolutely bummed us then said we can't finish top 6.

I think it's time people started taking us seriously, people are assuming we'll get injuries and slide down the table, but what if they don't?

Injuries is one, but I feel they are wondering whether we can keep this team together in Jan too...

Very special performance from a very special TEAM!

WTF is there to bicker, snipe and bitch about? Get a fkn grip with the playground arguments and enjoy the football ffs.

Fooking spot on that

This midfield is so much better than last season's midfield. I think it's just time people accepted it.

We are top of the Premiership by two clear points after yet another display where the midfield pairing ran the bloody show.

Kante is proving to be one of City's most important signings in decades. And Drinkwater should be in the England squad, make no bones about it.

I'm so so proud of this side and pleased that we finally have a midfield to combat any in this division.

Good post.Last week the two were not poor but lets say fell off form somewhat.

Its interesting to read after 15 games that, even some of our own forum members cant believe

what they are watching. Drinkwater and Kante are really that good, with Mahrez and Albrighton,

Giving them the perfect links, or straightforward to Vardy or Ulloa. The front 5 seem comfortable

playing to feet or open space, looking for those gaps.I want to see the game again , because it

seemed Vardy was more involved in the moves, not just an end target.

Yes we missed chances, but ffs we are making them.

All the pundits saying the bubble will burst but I think we're improving every week

Let's be honest though Drinkwater was awful last year! He has probably learned from Cambiasso in training and also adapted to premier league life!

It's not just that. Ranieri's tweaked the balance of the team so well it must be much easier in central midfield now.

a) We've found ourselves a consistently strong and uncomplicated right back who does the simple things well and doesn't leave anywhere near the gaps that appeared in the past. No that's not a condemnation of DeLaet who's been an excellent servant but found it hard in the Premiership to attack in the way he liked while not leaving the space behind him to be exploited. Yes, others were arguably at fault at times, but Simpson is much more "no risk" it's helped tighten us up considerably.

b) Fuchs has shown himself to be everything a seasoned grade A international should be. Again he's Mr consistent but with the odd extra or two thrown in. Again, he's a major improvement.

c) Kante's been a revelation. Most any team would benefit from his presence in breaking up opposition attacks but also in showing himself capable of instigating goalscoring attacks of our own. His energy is amazing - another big plus.

d) Options - our team has far more competent and effective alternatives now. King, Ulloa, Shinji, Schlupp, Benny and Weso are damned good players to be sitting on a bench and that's before mentioning Kramaric and Inler.

e) Tactics: Ranieri seems so astute tactically not just in giving his teams balance but in playing people in such a way as to get the best from themselves and changing the manner of approach to a game quickly and decisively when necessary. Whatever team we use seems to make life difficult for the opposition.

f) He improves players....something I don't think we've ever done enough of....without destroying what they're best at. Look at Vardy now. He basically focuses on what he's good at and everyone knows where and how to find him. Mahrez is the same. Yes, he'll do this or that defensively but essentially he's employed where he can do the most damage - scoring goals, making goals and keeping defenders occupied. Drinkwater's improved enormously and Albrighton's also showing signs of increasing his impact. Tactically the pluses have been enormous and he seems able to make changes seamlessly.

If you are top 4 in Jan and you have money in the bank then we have absolutely no reason to cash in. We can keep them until at least the summer surely.

Collymore on TalkShite just now pretty much just saying that we're a 2 man team in Vardy and Mahrez. I get the feeling people think we'll lose them in Jan or their form will dip or get injured etc. But like you say, what if they don't?

At one point towards the end Kante was pressing one of their players on one wing, the ball got switched quite quickly and he sprinted over at the speed of light and pressed on the other wing.

That's my excuse for yelling "Go on Jeff" at him anyway.

I'm so so proud of this side and pleased that we finally have a midfield to combat any in this division.

Firstly it is a team game and having players like Vardy, Mahrez, Albrighton running the defence ragged on and off the ball makes so much difference, we press as a team and defend as a team and it is the rest of the team doing their jobs well that allows Kante and Drinkwater to do their jobs.

Drinkwater and Kante wouldn't win the ball back half as much if the rest of the team weren't pressing and defending and leaving no easy outs, likewise on the ball, Drinkwater and Kante would not be able to move the ball forwards without the movement and running of their team mates.

As for the comparison to last season

First 5 games last season, great midfield and effort across the board, everyone worked their balls off and allowed our midfield to play.

Then Pearson got diamonds in his eyes and we became static and slow and frankly terrible.

Then for our great escape we finally found a formation that clicked and we played again as a team, working for each other, but that midfield 2 of Cambiasso and James were just as good as Kante and Drinkwater and arguably better as we controlled games, created lots of chances and didn't squander possession. we have one of the worst possession stats this season, last season with Cambiasso and without Drinkwater we even achieved 50%+ possession in some games.

Despite handing out a few thrashings this season, we still average 44.2% (44.8% last year and we were shit for 2 thirds of that).

Col, we get it you didn't rate Cambiasso, praise Drinkwater all you want, but you are banging your drum again and it leads to people not even seeing the Drinkwater praise, leave your Cambiasso agenda out of it. He was integral to our great escape, and culpable for us being in that position, you may not have seen the class he had, but many ther people did.

It is scary to think that... we are actually getting better

We look very well organised now just got to sort defending set pieces out and be more clinical in front of goal and we can certainly finish in the top 1

I'm often critical even in victory but that was just superb entertainment from our team. Some of the football was breathtaking and the bodies we got forward - even in the second half when we'd might just have protected our lead in the past - was so positive. Three more goals - going on eight, three more points to move to 32 and one defeat all season. That's impressive by any standards.

This team is so, so good. It's an absolute miracle that a club like us can have a team so well drilled, so positive and so effective.

Do not under-estimate how well organised we are. Post Arsenal we've been a completely different kettle of fish. You have to go back to the Norwich game to find a goal we conceded that wasn't from a set piece or penalty.

I genuinely believe we're well in the top four race, or even better, we've actually improved on our strong start rather than dropped off, that's the key factor.

Forza Don Claudio.

Only criticism is why not use the subs better, we had the game won after we went 3-0 up why not get Benalouane and Inler on get them integrated into the team more as we may need them, or give Schlupp/King/Okazaki more of a run out.

It's a small thing, but just seems a missed opportunity.

In my opinion we need to wait until after the Liverpool game on the 26th to answer this.

But everything else is spot on. We look so confident at the back which is a minor miracle considering how we looked in the first few weeks.

I'm the same I analyse the performance from difference aspects, But today was a bit special to witness especially how quickly we broke. That third Goal is one I will remember for a very long time. You can see the Team getting better and growing in confidence. Again it speaks volumes for CR and the Coaching staff.

In the pursuit of perfection we did give them a few chances which I'm sure CR will not be happy with, and I'm sure he'll work on it during the Week. But that just me wearing my Managers hat.  A grat all round performance.

Onwards and upwards we go.

Good team performance, Kante and Mahrez the star performers. Simpson has turned into a real pleasant surprise at full back as well.

Swansea were atrocious - Gomis in particular is dire: probably the worst regular centre forward in the premier league.
